Amazing video as always,I have a question for cog armor what was the development stage like for each armor design and for cog,onyx and uir helmets except for protection did the helmet have any other uses like did it have targeting reticle or give any battle information or anything else that helped it in combat?

If I recall correctly, helmets are primarily used for protection and air filtration to save them from toxins, fumes, ashes, and anything that could impede them during a firefight! I believe the standard 3 helmets were already around by Gears of War 1 (14 AE), but at least the first variant (Anthony Carmines) has been around since the Pendulum Wars! I wouldn't be surprised if the Onyx helmet had special systems to improve their performance like reticles or enhanced comms but as of now its not supported in lore!
@@CarmineForever ahhh alrighty that’s interesting because I remember in gears 2 Benjamin said it helped him breathe when they were going through that tunnel with the grind lift and between gears 1 and 3 the helmets got better with headshot protection between Anthony and Clayton helmet
@@gearreadyforwar1545 Yeah the helmets have always helped with redirecting bullets that weren't direct! Anthony's bullet was dead center with a Longshot which was way too much for the helmet but Clayton was lucky and it scrapped the side!
Alongside the books, was fun to read through these all earlier this year. Barren is probably one of the darker points in the series I gotta say. Like if there was a graph it'd be near the bottom. Also! Curious, what's your favorite and least favorite of the books? If I had to pick a favorite it'd probably jacinto's remnants. It was cool to see what happened immediately following gears of war 2 and seeing them try to hold together was interesting. As for Least favorite, bloodlines is probably down there for me. I was really hoping to learn more about what happened after settlement 2 in gears 5, and it did have some of that but I feel it focused on the past/flashbacks a bit too much. I understand it was meant to tie into gears tactics but I'll admit I haven't played that one yet so I wasn't exactly invested I suppose. What we did get focused on the present was nice though, like the scene between Baird and Jinn in the hospital. I've actually been writing a story about JD post act 1 and how he got promoted to captain. Going over his missions with Fahz. I feel he and that space of time between act 1 and 2 has a lot of untapped potential for stories.

Not sure how I am going to go about covering it when I eventually get to that series haha Hmmmm my favorite is probably "Aspho Fields", a great look into the life of our main duo of Marcus and Dom and more perspectives and characters from the Pendulum Wars era! Least favorite would also be "Bloodlines", I just remember it being less exciting than the others and felt the swapping between Kait and Gabe was a bit "meh" 😅

Focused a bit too much on the past. Even if it was nice to see/read about Vectes in its heyday. Definitely felt less exciting during the action I feel.
@@ODSTJake yeah it was strangely off-tempo, especially since "Ascendance" felt like an exciting 6th act to Gears of War 4 and "Ephyra Rising" was great worldbuilding for after Gears of War 3! But to their credit, 1 "meh" book out of 3 isn't all that bad I would say! Hope they have more books planned for us!

Seeing glimpses of things like Baird's home in New Ephyra. And the way it leads right into the beginning of 5, it felt very rewarding to have read it and gain that context.
@@ODSTJake I hope Gears 6 shows us what happened to the twins Mackenzie and Eli, their survival skills and dynamic was a breath of fresh air when working with Marcus and Oscar, the two old, grouchy soldiers! A lot of characters I would actually want to see make appearances on screen, Eli, Mackenzie, Karima, Brandon, Raul, so much potential! PLEASE give us more The Coalition

It was the old design for the COG Bolo grenade before it got revamped in Gears of War 4! We also see it in the opening cutscene in Gears of War 2 during the "Pendulum Wars" battle when the Gear soldier throws one and the camera follows it!
