Really hit me when Ashley talked about negative self talk in front of her daughter. Growing up, my mom would look in the mirror and say "I hate myself" and that would just kill me because my mom was the most beautiful kind smart loving funny amazing woman and how did she not know that?!
And also, if she was all those things and still felt that way ... what chance did I have

Same. I think my mom is gorgeous and I would love to be like her. But she also was so negative. She’s gained some weight now that she stopped smoking (still weighs less than me and is slightly taller) and she hates it. Although I know how to lose it but she doesn’t seem to want to do that but she has a lot going on in her life right now and has depression as well :/

I grew up seeing this as my role model, single mom, working full time, university part time. My mom would drive me to school, go to work all day and my grand pa would help out a lot, pick me up from school, do my homework with me and feed me while my mom would go to university at night, she would pick me up at 9, drive home, put me to bed and study in her bed until midnight. I remember my mother as this super hero who could do anything. I know as an adult now with my own kids and a part time university student working full time (the apple doesn't fall far from the tree), how hard it must have been (I have the advantage of having a partner). Single parents are incredible people!

When she said she's insecure about her stretch marks because she had a baby, that hit home. But I've learned one thing: having your body change from having a kid is so much more. You're body made a human, you devoted yourself and your body to this person, you sacrificed so much, went through so much pain, just to take care of that tiny little human. YOU ARE A HERO! And so is every other mom! It's not easy, what you've done is amazing, what your body is capable of is amazing! Wear those strechmarks with pride! It's like a big scar from an accident or something, it has a story, and it tells what you've been through and have overcome! It tells how strong you are! ❤

I would really love a makeover with a teenager. I understand that it’s harder because parents are involved, but honestly there isn’t enough information for teens health and fitness out there. I feel like a tonne of teens watch “glow up” and “makeover” videos is portraying an image of health and fitness than we can’t achieve. Teens also struggle a lot with body image and self identity and I feel that even just having a video out there would be amazing. Idk if you’ll see this but if you do, please consider this because I truly believe that it will help so many people.

I absolutely love this entire video!! It hit me hard. Especially when she talked about the "negative self talk". We can be SO MEAN to ourselves and say things to ourselves that we'd never in a million years say to a daughter/son or friend. We gotta have compassion towards ourselves too.
And Ashley, you loving yourself will also teach your daughter to love herself too. You're doing an amazing job!!!
And to ALL yall single moms out there slayin, YALL ARE SUPERWOMAN!!
Sidenote: Can we start a GoFundMe or something like that for her? Raise money to help her go back to school, and cover some bills when work is slow etc.

girl! look up “the budget mom”
kumiko love, she has some great budgeting advice and tips!
I’m a young parent also, I wasn’t young as you but I’m still young and started my pregnancy with nothing! homeless carless and jobless. I’m currently in low income housing but with kumikos budgeting plans I was able to save some cash, I don’t keep my money in the savings/checking account because if I see it there I’ll think I can spend it. I use what’s called an envelope method & that has worked wonders! Another thing that I did to save money was STOP EATING OUT. it’s so easy to just go thru the drive thru and get 5 dollar meals for you and babygirl, I did the same for me and my son. It didn’t seem like much cause I would make sure to order cheap but when I looked back at my statements & added everything up it turned out to be ALOT. I’m talking 100s. Money I could have easily spent on groceries. Anyways that’s just a little advice from me to you 😊
you’re a very sweet & beautiful girl & I hope the best for you and baby girl!
