That feeling of selfishness to take time for yourself is so real. My weird trick has been to pretend I have a kid. Would I feed them that meal? Would I order them what I’m about to order? Would I sit around for several hours? Keeps me much more accountable for bad behavior because I wouldn’t want them to grow up the way I did.

For season two how about Extreme Body Makeover: College Student Edition? Id be really interested to see how nutrition would play in for someone who eats on a student meal plan. And as junior who has gained 40 pounds since coming to college... I volunteer as tribute!
Also having NO control over meal time- My hall is open 7 AM-7PM and they are strict AF about what is served.

I agree with this! And I also volunteer haha. It sucks when you can't even really cook and the only healthy options are to eat a salad every day. The campus gym is full of people and intimidating. I would love to work out and feel better about my body but I literally have no idea how
Briana Nicole I was in the same boat. I started my college journey 2017 weighed in 160. December 2019, junior year, I weighed 180. I started changing January 2020, currently April 2020 I weigh 160. If you want some tips read on, if you don’t then stop reading I know how unsolicited advice can be taken.
1.) Low calorie dense foods (fruits and vegetables). If you are eating in a dining hall, eat a couple plates of salad first. Find a vegetable you like and eat that in bulk. I hate Lettuce and Tomatoes, but I love Spinach, Kale, and bell peppers. When I eat, I eat Spinach, Kale, and bell peppers. In my dining hall, plates are very small, so I eat 3 plates of that salad, with lean meats (grilled chicken or beef).
2.) Diet cola, people say it will give you cancer. Not really, if you consume Diet cola for a REALLY long time, it may give you cancer, but no calories no problem. Makes your “diet” bearable.
3.) for breakfast, keep it boring, oatmeal, if you can buy some protein powder, do it and have oatmeal with protein powder.
4.) training: walking up hills for 30 min to an hour is good training. If you have access to a gym, and would prefer that, go to a treadmill and max out the incline. It burns nearly double the calories compared to walking to a flat incline. Weight training, so building muscle increases your metabolism, so incorporating weight training into your plan is a good idea.
5.) Lose .5% to 1% of body weight per week. This is a safe way to lose weight. Also prevents metabolic damage. If you’ve watched The Biggest Loser, they try to lose about 10 lbs per week, and then they come out with metabolic damage. If you don’t want that, lose .5% to 1% of body weight per week.
6.) You have to COUNT calories, everything that you eat has to be tracked. I know it’s a lot of work, but it has to be done. There is a way around this, but it is also as hard. Weigh yourself everyday and take the average weight of the week. If your average weight for the week increased, eat less than the week before. Much easier to track by counting calories, but if you don’t then you’ll have to guess. Lose It app works best for me.
7.) Enjoy the journey. I know, as someone who has constantly gained and lost weight for most of my life, that we want to lose weight and go back to the way before. That isn’t the most productive use of your time. We want to lose weight and keep it off, so learn to love vegetables, learn to love working out. This can be VERY hard during exam times, I know after an exam I want a large bubble tea with boba, and some cookies. It’s fine, but you do have to track those calories. If you can’t eat it, save it for next time.
Bonus: cheat meals are a thing. Every week, I eat one meal that I absolutely crave, however I don’t pig out. I still keep track of the calories, but I adjust my meals before and after the meal to accommodate.
I really hope this helps, and I wish you luck if you decided to embark on this weight loss journey.

The body transformation series is one of my favorites! Especially this one, it’s so motivating to see a couple like them being so supportive and selfless for one another.
It would be great to see a couple in their middle aged years attempt this challenge. I see my parents always putting their children first and never making time for themselves. Also feeling like the days of fitness are behind them, but still wanting to feel better about them selves.

I’ve seen comments about this but I’m glad that the groom also took part in this challenge because I think it’s kinda a weird message when shows suggest the bride get in shape for the wedding day but the groom doesn’t have to!

one key to enjoying the workout while you are actually working out is to find a workout that you actually enjoy. i didn't enjoy workingout until i got into marital arts and body weight/old school exercising.
bs jeffrey lifting weights and doing yoga both make me feel so good afterwards too. Seeing changes in my body make it more rewarding when I feel/look better & that keeps me working out too. But definitely find things you love. I kayak when I can too...
Yes.. I adore weightlifting! It’s the only type of exercise that doesn’t bore me terribly. Plus it’s had tremendous physical results over the past 5 years. My metabolism is swell. I can’t imagine never working out, though I love watching people develop and get involved/overcoming their sedentary lifestyles
Yaaassss! It’s a shame that public schools only teach sports. It gave me an unhealthy relationship with exercise because I’m really shit at all forms of sports (I’m basically blind in one eye). I wish I’d been taught and then given the freedom to choose alternatives. Team sports are even sustainable for adults imo.
I've been trying to loose weight because I've been getting teased at school for being fat. I wouldn't call it bullying because it's not that bad but I still find it annoying.
I'm not there, obviously, but it sounds like bullying and it's not okay. Depending on your weight, there are lots of reasons to lose weight, especially while you are young, that set you up well for the rest of life. Try to do it a healthy way, like these videos advocate- which I know can be difficult when you are likely too young to make the grocery shopping choices in your house.
StarkillerGoose im sorry you are being teased. here are some great ideas listed here. But switching out healthier options for soda/fast food/candy can be a big start for a lot of people. Lots of sugar, sodium and bad fats are in fast food & a lot of boxed food.
Check out the fresh fruit and vegetable section. Challenge yourself to try new foods. You can roast a sweet potato in the oven for 45 minutes at 400 degrees, flip and cook for another 20 until its smooshy when squeezed. You can also microwave it if necessary for a quick meal. They are cheap & nutritious, with fiber & vitamins which is why I suggest them. You can roast bags of fresh green beans, frozen okra and more.
And there are free workouts on UA-cam where you use your bodyweight. And I love yoga too.
I don’t know your age, but focus on eating healthy food, adding in servings of colorful fruits and vegetables. This way you AREN’T starving yourself (which isn’t sustainable or helpful). But I love sliced apple for snacks at night, popcorn, oatmeal with frozen blueberries, beans, banana, salads (dark greens). Lean meats like chicken are always good. Try it for 3 weeks. It takes that long to form new habits! But once I cut out candy, my body started craving fruit. I make fruit and spinach smoothies for breakfast. Finding a few “clean” meals to eat help maintain it as a lifestyle! You can even start with doing push-ups, squats and crunches.
And walk 30 minutes, 3-5x a week. Increase it until you are running. But take time out for yourself to get healthy. Focus on that, eating foods that fuel your body, rather just stressing about “losing weight.” And be thankful for your body and what it can do for you & how you can move and do what you can! Good luck, and message me back if you have any questions.
Edit: also, water is a MUST!!!! Drink at least 64oz, if you are a teen, or there are ways to find the proper amount online for your weight. If you sweat a lot you probably need more.
Food is fuel!
Also, finding things you enjoy like playing basketball and riding bikes can be easy ways to get movement in while having fun. Even soccer, you can practice dribbling and scoring goals almost anywhere. A jump rope burns a ton of calories. Finding a friend to walk with or workout with can be fun too.
Dont make the choice to lose weight bc of how others make you feel. You are giving other people too much power.
Sugar thekitty that’s true! It gets more difficult to lose weight the older you get. Being involved in grocery shopping & finding healthy recipes can help your family find easy meals. Those are definitely good ideas too. It might help inspire everyone!
I did weight watchers when I was 20. We didn’t have UA-cam to learn from back then, lol. But I knew the basics, but couldn’t figure out how to put it into action-creating a grocery list from recipes, etc. (I can send some sites if anyone wants some).
It taught me the basics of eating right, learning new recipes & importance of exercise. My family ate pretty healthy, but we did eat at restaurants a lot, & there was room for improvement. But...I taught my mom & sisters & eventually even my dad decided to make changes.
And my sister and I actually hiked a famous trail in South America a couple years ago & have kayaked in cool places. It really can change your whole life! I love channels like Michelle and “Yes Theory” because they inspire me to make positive changes to my life!
Don’t lose weight for the sake of those teasing you. Lose weight because it will extend your life and improve your health.

I think it might be a bit critical the way they did the before & after pictures, there was definitely a difference but some of the differences were achieved by putting on better cloth, eg. her pants hit higher on the hips & her bra lower on the back which gave her a better figure. I understand that these videos can have a very positive impact on a lot of ppl to make healthier choices, but if they do the same thing , they shouldn’t be disappointed if they don’t get the same visual results you see in the before & after picture. I think maybe the outfit thing wasn’t intentional, but just to get the most real impression the same outfits in both pictures might be a good idea. Sorry for the criticism, it is just something that I had to think about.
don't be sorry! you bring up some very valid points. a lot of the times these transformation videos are just clickbait and they intentionally manipulate the results to look better than they actually are. Transforming your body is HARD WORK and no one should feel bad if they don't look like a new person in 4 weeks (or even 8 weeks!). that's just not realistic for most people, and it does the community a disservice when these types of rapid weightloss videos go viral. it's actually pretty harmful.
I hate that about al lot of before and after vids. Like honey you would look the same if you pulled your pants up a little higher lol. I understand your point, its no hate :)

I’m 19 years old, born in El Salvador, raised in the U.S. (California & florida)
Last year, at age 18- I moved to Taiwan (yes- ASIA)
I am an outcast here in the daily life, but get to meet a lot of wonderful people, the last year I spent learning Chinese and now I’m starting my university degree here, I have known change, instability & discomfort my whole life, broken through a lot of obstacles, my parents divorce, moving around at least 8 different schools, countries, bullying, and social anxiety.I have been an advocate for self growth and self love and I practice it as much as possible, but I realized the one thing that I can’t break through on my own- that I need to reach out for help is- my relationship with having a healthy body, I see my relationship with food as unhealthy, because I see it as happiness, although I do enjoy eating healthy foods it’s even harder for me here in this country to eat the way I’m supposed to, I have always made excuses for my lack of effort into making my body the healthiest possible. I have cried countless times and put myself down, I hate shopping because I don’t like looking in the mirror and seeing how it doesn’t fit well, if you see this Michelle, and you are able to take on an international project, you would be the help I need to finally enable me to meet myself in the best version. Congrats to both - they looked magnificent! Kudos to Joe. We all know how Activision did a greed pull by forcing Blizzard to fire a large number of employees while making those employees that were left pick up their work. Don't know if it affected Joe's department, but what a time to be changing fitness/eating habits and preparing for a wedding as well.
