My Polish grandfather taught himself to read and speak English as did my Ukrainian grandfather who spoke and could read and write five other languages. @@tnzayatz6579 i know westerners are xenophobic and that is why all that action towards tolerance had been set to the max. Unfortunately it is being targeted towards Poland as well while Poles are an example of tolerance and friendliness…. Speaking multiple languages is nothing to brag - especially when you come from families with multiple backgrounds. I also speak five languages but had to actually work to learn them.
@@ipodman1910 hmm, interesting. You assume westerners are xenophobic but have you considered Russians, Chinese, Japanese, and many other countries with strong ethnocentric outlooks? Having grown up in a mixed ethnic area and traveled very extensively, I have met many friendly people and not so friendly people in many countries including Poland who were not at all tolerant and welcoming to individuals from a different country. You also don’t know me so you have absolutely no idea how hard or not I have worked for my language skills. I can tell you that even though my parents spoke Polish and Ukrainian, they did not speak Russian, French, Spanish, or Swahili, I had to work and learn these through my own efforts so I don’t brag about it but I am proud of it. My only point in response to your original post was there were legitimate reasons for immigrants insisting on their children speaking the language of their “new” country wherever that happened to be. Enjoy your day and have a Merry Christmas and a successful New Year.
@@tnzayatz6579 thank you. But unconsciously you are supporting my point. I don’t “assume” westenrs are xenophobic - they simply are xenophobic - for example French are famous for it, same as Britons but a bit less, while I was not mentioning any Asian nations while that is another ballpark. I was talking about Poland versus west. You cannot use your anecdotal experiences with overall experience of foreigners coming to Poland and loving friendliness and openness while there is a hate campaign against Poland - historical one and current one to smear Poles as intolerant. Facts are facts. Also - foreign kids in Polish schools don’t have to learn Polish to avoid being discriminated like in the west (here you’re confirming my point about the west). They do it simply to be able to communicate with their peers.
Awww thank you for the video! Just the right moment! So much stress from Christmas preparations and your videos always lighten my mood 💗 Love your positive energy 💖
I once reI once read about research on language transmission in blended families. The result - regardless of the language of the country they live in, children are much more likely to pick up the language their mother uses. When you think about it more deeply, it's not surprising. Mothers have a closer relationship with their children from the beginning, even when children learn to speak and say their first words. Women also communicate more with words. Yes, they are talkative - it's a real stereotype. 😉
@@ipodman1910 Yes "The basic difference in communication between men and women is revealed in the way they formulate statements and choose vocabulary. Research shows that girls say their first words earlier than boys, learn to read faster, and cope with grammar and spelling more easily (Moir, Jessel, 1993, Nęcki, 1996). At a more mature age, they speak their native language more fluently than men (Moir, Jessel, 1993). They use richer vocabulary, to emphasize their own message, they saturate the statement with the so-called "intensifiers" of adverbs and adjectives, e.g. "really beautiful", "terribly ugly", "especially sensitive" (Mulac, Lundell, Bradac, 1986, after: Nęcki, 1996). And "It has been noticed that already in infancy there are differences between the sexes in the sphere of interests (Vasta, Haith, Miller, 1995). Little girls focus on people, little boys - on objects (Moir, Jessel, 1993)."
@@ipodman1910 Oh, I totally agree that this is the art of manipiulation based on what triggers human emotions. If we really analyse this with a cold brain and scepticism, we will find very many things wrong with the picture.

7.27 If the child lives abroad and the mother is Polish, the child will naturally be in a better place to at least understand the second language as the mother is more likely to speak to the child at home whereas the father is out at work all day. However, as the child grows up, goes to school and meets English speaking children with whom he/she becomes friends, Polish is going to be more or less 'out of the window.' Also now in England we are experiencing mass immigration and as I sit on the bus I see Eastern European mothers with their offspring getting on and off the busses and more often than not, they are speaking English with their children and not their mother tongue, whatever that may be. These mothers obviously realize that their mother tongue is not a good investment in the U.K. If you want to go to university in England or want t good career job, the Polish language is not going to give you much mileage over here! Added to this is the fact that I know Polish and even have a Polish language certificate B1 but can only stay in Poland for a maximum of ninety days in any 180. On the other hand, my son automatically qualified for a Polish passport through blood line even though he has no interest in the country or it's language whatsoever.

Merrry Chrristmas. Happpyy New Year. Also Allegro - Twardowsky, Jaga, Twardowsky 2.O, Bazyliszek.
These are good ones as opposed to the one Russel brought up!
Stereotypes are real. Don’t give up to the brainwashing. We should be combating against false stereotypes (for example - Polish mother stereotype)…
@@ipodman1910 I don't know this stereotype about a Polish mother. Can I ask for details?
@@ipodman1910 Yes
"The basic difference in communication between men and women is revealed in the way they formulate statements and choose vocabulary.
And
"It has been noticed that already in infancy there are differences between the sexes in the sphere of interests (Vasta, Haith, Miller, 1995). Little girls focus on people, little boys - on objects (Moir, Jessel, 1993)."
@@obserwator1766 Polish Mother stereotype is falsely painting all Polish mothers as saints, martyrs and best of the best. It’s bollocks.

If we really analyse this with a cold brain and scepticism, we will find very many things wrong with the picture.
@@Dadas0560: Exactly! And it’s not any “Polish” ad, more an international one, advertising learning English with Allegro books. Nothing in this ad is Polish, apart from one word and one phrase. All the scenery and props are not from this time and Polish millieu, it looks like from Ikea, or Scandinavia some 50 years ago maybe. I can tell, I’m Polish, I left my country nearly 20 years ago😢
It would have been awesome to hear just one Polish word, yes!

There is a lovely advert by a British company Robinsons. They make fruit squash drinks. Ad is called Robinsoss - Thanks Dad.

I'll look for it, thx!
I'm an American married to a polish woman for the past 42 years. My kids are now in their thirties and my wife never taught them Polish which she regrets everyday
Is it just me or does this guy look just like Buddy Valastro the “Cake Boss” this is my favorite Polska vlog. Merry Christmas everyone
We do favor a lot in my opinion! :)
I think my fav is Talizman from there, but all time fave is 2014's Saintsbury "Christmas Truce"
I'm a father of 2 and my boys teacher's actually sain not to speak to them/chat in Dutch. Because we've an accent and it'll be better if they learn native language at home, foreign at school. Worked out perfectly. Both speaking native and foreign fluently. Plus b2 English and French at age 7

Good for you, Russell, for teaching your children to be bilingual. This is a great asset, and they will be very grateful to you when they will be adults.
I’m not so fond of this commercial. Why isn’t the child speaking Polish to the Polish grandfather ? Also, why wasn’t he picked up at the airport?
Bingo!
And why allegro is pushing mixed agenda upon Poland? 99.9% of Polish kids are white and we want to keep it that way! Same as we want to keep the crime rate low in our beautiful country!
Do grand children generally speak a foreign language when living abroad?
@@michaelmckelvey5122 many of them do! It depends on the quality of their parents. If their mothers are **** - the kids don’t speak their parents language but only local.
Regards😊
Both my parents learned English in school and never passed on Polish. For them it was all about assimilation.
Allegro has other Christmas commercials, some are very good, like the one with the doctor and the tatooed boyfriend his daughter brings home
This christmas tree can hold all of this stuff ? ;)
Yes it can! :)
It looks like that Black Fox is first here :P Well, not really, some comments popped after putting my comment.
Yes Russ, You're right. This commercial was beautifull indeed. I love it too.
It so beautifull how this old man was doing his best to learn the language which is hard to a lot of people ( well, my English still sucks :/ ).
But well, the sad thing is TV don't show the more beautifull stuff these days. In past years I could to watch animated movies ( And I still love animation - even as the adult person I am ). But today We can to find a lot of borring stuff - and that sucks!
Yes, I know... You will tell us about Your fave TV movies and shows airing durring the Christmass next time - and that will be cool.
PS. I wish You everything best Russ.
You’re confused and wrong - Russel is American so he doesn’t get it. If you’re Polish you should be ashamed!
Did you get anything on Polish TV? With the whole Tusk thing... *rimshot* (ba dum tss)
We watch satellite TV mostly :)
Be careful. It may appear, you have an alergic reaction after seeing this.

I’ve been following their commercials ever since. I love the one with the biased doctor who hates her daughter’s boyfriend and then… (no spoilers) and the one that ran right after that one you showed with the grandma who was once a race car driver. This year’s? Meh
🤮 so disgusting. You’re supporting the agenda of cultural destruction and erasing of tradition - basically hate towards everything that Poland is…

That is a strange commercial not even meant for the Polish market. Who is its meant for?
Bingo! It’s meant for Polish market to brainwash Poles and destroy our culture from within!
Sorry that you don't understand... let me explain... the guy in the clip is a Pole. A Polish grandpa. In order to understand his granddaughter and be able to travel abroad by himself he decides to learn English. So he orders a set to learn English through Allegro (that is as popular in Poland as Amazon is everywhere else).
