      People dont understand that the prices of things are never going back down. This inflation is deeper than we think. Those buying groceries are well aware that the real inflation is much over 10%. The increments dont match our income, yet certain investors still earn over $365,000 in stocks and assets. Wish I could accomplish that.

    I had a similar, albeit much lower key issue. Back when I did the collab with JoergSprave, he sent through his "Instant Genghis Khan". No problem first time, it's just a wooden box with a few crossbow bolts. Second time, it got flagged. I presume that Joerg may have messed this one up, as he also included some of his handheld rubber-band crossbows. That flagged the whole thing as a prohibited weapon i.e. "crossbow parts".

    If it’s 3,000 dollars to have customs search the container, and 1,500 dollars to send back to China, and not knowing how much does it cost China to reship back to you, it may have made more sense to have customs do its thing. Seems the price is the same, and you’d have product to sell.

    • @vaazig
      @vaazig 2 місяці тому +3

      Yup. It was an emotional response that wasn't based on rational thinking. Say that he saved 1.500 on 100k, that's not profit, but rather the cost for having 100k tied up for 9 months instead of turning it into profit.

      My customs broker said if you get flagged for importing prohibited goods then all your shipments will get flagged and customs will go through every container. So it is safer to send it back. I did not get a price for Customs to unload and reload. They estimated $3,000. I did tell customs broker to let customs find the box but he said all you shipments will then be flagged and flow on costs will be bad.

      The kicker is, the arm brace does little to nothing to make the slingshot any more or less precise/accurate! Nor any more powerful or lethal than a normal handheld slingshot, in fact most records and best competitions are almost entirely shot using slingshots without an arm brace. 😂 the trigger mechanism I can somewhat understand, but at the same time, the responsibility is entirely down to the eventual user... To be perfectly honest, save yourself the hassle and money in the future and don't bother listing/selling them altogether, it's obviously not worth it.

    FAR OUT slingshot with a trigger is illegal but crossbows, compound bows, kitchen knives and truck rentals are completely legal. Reminds me of when they banned gel blasters for being "air rifles" (based on lies by the way, they are identical to Nerf) despite Nerf blasters being potentially lethal when modified in a certain way (gel blaster projectile deforms and breaks before it gets to any sort of dangerous velocity)

    I'm just not understanding the logic behind sending a 100k shipment back to China, and waiting until Christmas to get it back just to save $1500. It's just not adding up to me at all (literally).

    • @Makka316
      @Makka316 2 місяці тому

      100% This was a ridiculous knee jerk reaction. If a customer wants something that was in that order why would they wait till Christmas to buy it when they can probably buy it direct. He wont just loose those sales, he also wont be able to start selling the stock (that he's already paid for!!) until Christmas. It would be better to simply accept that he didn't handle the paperwork properly to start with, bite the bullet on paying the extra customs processing charges, and get on with selling the stock.

      If customs open the container the importer becomes flagged. All future shipment will also be flagged and subjected to customs searches which the importer has to pay. However, if it's sent back, then it won't be flagged, nor will future shipments... either way you're screwed. You have to decide which way will screw you the least...

    Can't sell it until its in the store?? At least half the time I buy online I get told it's not in stock and will be ordered in. Not had that issue with Archery Supplies in particular, but most places will take your money regardless of whether they can actually ship a product out immediately or not.

      Yes it can be hard estimating how long it will take to come in. I have 2 bows at Elite archery ready to come in. Elite quoted $1500 for 2 bows in freight. It was $100 a bow previously. So now I have to place a larger order and bring in a large order to cut the price.
      With Bearpaw there is almost a 1 year wait. So currently I have stuff ready at Bearpaw but I need to know how much and calculate the freight.

      In the past and my understanding is the sling shots are allowed as long as they are not the Brace type. then in 2019 they added new legislation I was unaware of to stop the import of Trigger slingshots. My customs agent reads it as Slingshots or slingshots with a trigger.
      You are allowed to sell them. I currently buy from interstate at $35 each roughly. These would be significatly cheaper.

  • @Alan_Edwards

    I think people, maybe me included, think dealing with China would be super easy since they our the worlds largest supplier of just about everything....well everything they can copy and/or make cheaply, but I guess that is not always the case. I'm actually surprised that bows don't fall under the same licensing model as slingshots. I mean it's more of a weapon than a slingshot for sure?

  • @shortbuslife3440
    @shortbuslife3440 2 місяці тому

    It would probably be cheaper to get customs to find it in Australia because the $1500 I'd bet is only for the return and you'll probably have to pay for shipping again and as you say you're going to have to wait another 6 months before you can sell them. Either way that sucks!

    Just goes to show you that the folks who make the rules, dont actually know anything about them.. A slingshot would hurl a ball at around 7 joules of energy, basic slingshot.. A compound bow by todays standards is about 100 joules.. Enough power to kill or injure everything and anything.. But a slingshot could take your eye out.. and worse if you use a wrist brace then you would be comfortable while doing it.. Idiots !!!

    I call BS. There is clearly more to this. Firstly, you should be aware of the rules there is no excuse. Secondly, the container can be removed under seal to a registered customs premises to open it. Thirdly, I’m surprised your supplier is going to cop all of this messing around, as having a container returned, having to pay port costs, transport, loading etc twice more will likely be more than the loss. If I was them, I wouldn’t accept it as it seems they are not at fault, you are. Best business practice in this case, talk to your supplier, ask them to share the loss with you. And get on with selling the product. So what’s the full story?

  • @farhadelavia

    Very sad to hear your remarks about your Chinese supplier. Mocking their most significant festival and questioning why the country closes down for Chinese New Year is highly unprofessional and culturally insensitive.
    Imagine if someone questioned why Australian companies close for two weeks over Christmas and New Year, implying that employees are wasting time. The Chinese New Year is a time-honored tradition, rich with cultural significance, much like our own festive season. Dismissing it in such a flippant manner reflects poorly on our values and your professionalism.
