Be very careful using sulfuric acid! About 40 years ago, I used it for my bathtub drain and ended up with hazardous materials people coming in their funny little costumes for safety. The tub pipe went down into the basement and out to the sewer. It was a copper pipe From 1939 and it had a pinhole in it that up until that time was no problem. But the sulfuric acid opened it up just enough to let all of the acid drip down and hit the cement floor which it ate up immediately. It made fumes and it was a mess. The fire department came with the hazardous waste people. I had to open all the windows in the house, because the smell went up into the house. We opened the bulkhead door to the basement and we couldn’t go back in the house for about three hours.
Should spend an hour researching the benefits versus the negative benefits of using acid chemical for a blocked drain, whether its good for the plumbing system or not, old houses always have bad drain systems by not having PVC plumbing

I almost never put drain cleaner in a toilet because yes it cannot get to the clog to start working and never plunge a toilet with drain cleaner in it as it will splash everywhere while plunging a toilet, best to pour it down another drain, let sit for required time to digest the organic clog and then rinse with hot water, if the clog is really bad, use a drain snake, best to know the schematics of the drain lines to figure out where the clog actually is so the plan of attack can be formulated to work best on where the clog is
