Picked this baby up when my Singer bobbin winder stopped working. Got a $100 quote to fix it. So when I saw this at a yard sale for $5 I bought it just to use it to wind bobbins. When my Singer finally died I decided to try using the White 1777 and boy am I glad I did. Found the manual for it on line. I think I paid $5.95 for it to be downloaded.
Your “crazy” thing is the snap-catch for your open door. My long basting stitch is not working it only gors about # 2-3 length un less i pullto make the stitches longer, which can get very uneven lentghs how do i fix that?
First you need to give it a deep cleaning and oil inside the sewing machine. Sound to me that the gear that switches the nob needs some oil. To loosen up the connection. To get it to work probably.
You need to oil the connection in the bottom of the machine a lot of times. When you open small compartment, up there's a lot of dust and other things that's in the way needles and thread like that you need to get rid of so that way the machine will be able to run correctly. Sometimes the gears that run feeddogs are broken. Will pray that's not the issue.
