Hi Ashley, what is the best way to send you footage? I had some idiot reverse into me, then take off. I would like to send you the footage but my email only accepts video files of upto 25mb and the file is 300mb.
@urbanshadow777 people usually upload their footage to Google Drive or similar and then send me a sharing link.
The last clip i call sheeple, where a queue of cars gets an opportunity to overtake, where the sheep are just following the first car without checking oncoming traffic correctly and decided because the car in front of you can, so can i, end of thought process.
Watching the red light jumper I thought "I've seen worse" then saw the following two and went "I take that back never mind" :)
"hands up if you want driving lessons" .... love it !
It’s been pointed out before we shouldn’t be making fun of people putting their hand up to apologise. It’s civil and should be encouraged
3:05 WOW!
I think I've learnt three things from your videos. 1. When I'm out about, I should assume I'm on camera. 2. I can't drive, but even as a pedestrian who only crosses the road at zebra crossings or one with lights, I need to be much more careful. Just because I have a green nan doesn't mean that the car is going to stop. And 3. The truly mad things people will do to save themselves 20 seconds on a journey.
I don't see why what colour your nan is has to do with road safety.
It's got nothing to do with time usually, because if you don't let them do it, they are not in any sort of hurry anymore, and have all the time in the world to "talk".
@@JonnyUnforeseen🤣🤣🤣
Your nan should probably go to hospital. Green complexion can be a sign of hypochromic anemia.
Yeah, I suspect it's more a competitiveness thing. It reminds me very much of when I run a long distance race and am just focused on getting front of the person in front, and then the next person, then the next person. Except when someone pulls ahead of me, I won't throw a strop like these guys do. They're hyper competitive, with fragile egos.
5:05 "I've been driving for 30 years and I've never had an accident! I've SEEN hundreds though!"
I knew someone who used to say exactly that - and he was a nightmare driver.
All those years and still doesn't have any idea as to where they are or how to navigate a roundabout
You beat me to that one 🤣
@@PedroConejo1939I know about 3 and they are also nightmare drivers
Probably all in the rearview mirrors!
Hi Ashley. Your channel is the only one which educates and push drivers to question themselves. No hate, no "watch that idiot driving.". I had anger issues in the past and seeing your videos teached me to relax behind the wheel, to act with focus but especially distance (in litteral and figurative sense lol). It was an inspiration that I was a part of the issue and I must work on this in every aspect of my life. Thank you.
Many years ago I heard a joke line something like "he's been driving for years and has never been in an accident but has seen loads in his rear view mirror"
I believe Jasper Carrot has a routine about his Mother-in-Law being that type of driver
They say driving is a privilege, not a right. Nowadays, it's a liability.
that last clip, wow... not only was she trying to overtake the red car with zero visibility but the cyclist too... absolutely shocking driving
…and there was a bunch of cars right ahead anyway! Where was she gonna go?!
@@Drenwickification The Audi badge gives her the right to both sides of the road......
That overtake of the cyclist at 5:46 and 6:10 is an all too common sight and only a few days ago I had one like the second example only it was across hatched markings for a junction, with traffic approaching and then followed by solid white lines. The impatience of some is unbelievably shocking.
I have had cyclists say thank you to me for stopping when someone does a poorly timed overtake like in the first one. I hear a mix of Ogmios and Ashley when it happens “Not a problem, making it a non event so we can enjoy a beautiful day”
As for “Didn’t See or Didn’t Care”, I have had a few recently where they did see but took so long in processing or getting moving that what they saw was no longer valid. So for those I have “They looked, they saw, they forgot”
People who make such big mistakes when driving need some sort of punishment, they will never change and continue to drive in such manner.
Unlikely when we have a government that cuts the number of officers on the road needed to address this directly.
There was such a system in place until a big oaf came along and sold magic brexit beans to those with very low intelligence.
@@toxlaximus3297 Law enforcement was a joke for decades before Brexit. The safety of people is not seen as a priority by successive Over-Lords.
The real problem is that many of the 'mistakes' are deliberate actions by drivers with a sense of entitlement that means they just don't care, and they know the chances of them being captured are very slim indeed. Roads policing has suffered disproportionately far more cuts than most areas of policing because it's expensive.
People are dumb, and more people are driving these days.😁
Mondeo Ladder driver, you say, Experienced driver, driving 30 years, never had an accident so they must be good! I can tick three of those boxes! I am an experienced driver, been driving 30 years, never had an accident, but still learning!
I actually do think e-scooters should be legalised. Its a more ecologically friendly way to get around. If you based everything's legality status on how idiots use it, then nothing would be legal.
At 1:03, although it was the silver Renault that was reversed into by the VW in front, the Renault itself was stopped in the Advanced Cycle Box. Still doesn't excuse being reversed into of course.
You don't have to leave the box clear when queueing although it is courteous to do so.
@@andyalder7910 I know also sometimes ending up stopped in the box was a result of diligently stopping for a red light when someone was following too close behind.
One thing with the kind of situation at around 1:05. If I come up to a set of red lights and I see the vehicle ahead has stopped having "overshot the line", I will leave sufficient space for that vehicle to reverse back behind the stop line. And if such a vehicle is a van of some sort with no direct view from a back window, I will stagger my own car so that I am visible in it's driver's side mirror. I've had several cases whereby carrying out these actions, I have indeed provided the vehicle in front with an escape route to reverse. This technique is also useful if the vehicle ahead blocks a side street, a Keep Clear or similar.
in that clip, the silver car not only didn't do that, but also overshot the line.
@@kenbrown2808@ibs5080 I sent this clip in. Just to confirm, both cars did pass the stop line when the lights were on green but were then queuing to turn right and didn't didn't make it though before it went red again (you can see the lights changing at the very start of the clip). The car that reversed should really of cleared (it was #2 in the queue & there was plenty of time) or just stayed put as it wasn't in the way. Good tip re handling "overshooters" tho.
@@simonmunroe963 it's why I won't cross the line, unless I'm sure I can clear before the lights change. I'm in the US, and all junctions are to be considered yellow box junctions in my state.
Top tip!
10:05 Well, you do say use all the road space. ;)
I am sure I have seen at least two other clips of that exact Bentley driver road raging at other drivers on dashcam channels. I can't believe that obvious psychopath is still allowed to drive. I wonder how they got into a position of wealth to own such a vehicle - how many people have been bullied or worse to progress up that slippery ladder?
I was thinking the same thing re seeing that Bentley in another clip. In fact at the beginning of this one, I actually thought it was a repeat clip that I'd seen elsewhere but this one was indeed different.
Some heart-stopping moments in there!
Thanks to your other viewers for sending them in.
Cheers, Ashley. 😊
Re: the Bentley driver at 6:13, I'd say that any reaching into someone else's car should be viewed as assault or attempted assault - even pulling at the door handle. The only exceptions would be emergencies, such as to offer medical aid or intervene with a dangerous (drunk) driver. I'd have submitted that clip to plod and let them sort it out. The first part was just handbags, as you say, but once it escalates, that needs dealing with.
Bentey Neanderthal got a case of too many 'roids and enlarged testicles. Can't be a very enlightened or self-aware individual.
The interior of your car has the same status as your house. Nobody is allowed to open or enter it without your permission. That is for example why the police has to ask you to open the trunk or so. In my Dutch it is called Huisvredebreuk (House peace breaking / breaching). You see in this example how non British people can be very brutal.
@@gerhard6105 What does it mean, "You see in this example how non British people can be very brutal"? It definitely looks like the UK to me.
@@PedroConejo1939 it means that some of these drivers have an other mindset regarding behaving to other people. I am Dutch, regards from the Netherlands.
He was lucky not to get the rear-end of his Bentley rammed.
I'll be honest, that lady in the last clip would have heard my full range of English language skills if she'd stopped next to me in those circumstances. Sometimes, you just have to.
Disproportionate number of Audis and Beemers in this little lot. Again.
Much better to just roll your eyes, shrug, and let them carry on. They'll know what they did wrong.
@paulsengupta971 Agreed. And if they really would have felt proper remorse, they never would have done it in the first place.
1:05
Had a similar scenario, except hit and run while my car was parked. Woman denied all of it against the video evidence and also got done for driving without a seatbelt - insurance called it a slam dunk, I received compensation and my dashcam paid for itself 3 times over.
The UK has never been in more need of periodic training and testing!
Seems to be a national plague...
At around 8:32 on the multi lane large roundabout. A classic textbook case of Ashley's advice re "Try to drive in a staggered formation". I'd also add, be on particularly high alert when approaching roundabout exits and be prepared to go in an unintended direction to avoid an incident, then get back on course afterwards.
That's Hermiston Gait roundabout in Edinburgh. Four lanes on entry, three exits from the roundabout including a tricky third exit where you then have four lanes of which two join the bypass Eastbound and two stay left going up to a roundabout. In short, this kind of thing happens all the time. If you negotiate this roundabout without expecting someone to cut you up you're not really anticipating well.
you are correct, anyone who decides to undertake on a roundabout (and in this case at quite a significant speed difference) then they are inviting a collision.
Always leave space for others to manoeuvre.
I have had to take evasive action many times due to inconsiderate drivers who think they are special and don',t have to go back round after missing a turn off
8:34 I'm sorry you cannot blame the cammer in any way there. They did nothing wrong.
9:44 Hmm, a suspiciously 'darkened' registration plate on the red light jumper- looks like more than just dirt to me.
10:34 a417 from West Hendred to Wantage, as someone who drives this road frequently I have seen a few different awful overtakes on this stretch of road. I often imagine this scenario unfolding. Kinda scary to see it on video.
7:28 Something similar happened to me a few years ago before i started driving when i cycled home from work and at a crossroads (i was on the main), a car just blindly went across nearly clipping me. I was so tempted to slap the back of their car and WANT them to stop so i could shout at them. When i calmed down i realised it wasn't worth it. So i'm glad i didn't.
If you get out of your vehicle and road rage at someone you will have already lost. If the Police see it or get evidence of it be prepared to be put in front of a Magistrate and face possible jail time. It's as simple as that. Just a deep breath and getting on with your journey (or pulling into a safe spot and calming down) is all that is needed. Don't get out of your car to rage/fight, with all the dash cams, CCTV and mobile phones about it wont look good.
"use ya brain" easier said than done for most people! 😆
At around 9:16 the RR driver brushing up against the hedge. The obvious thought is that it was due to distracted driving. Either phone use or trying to adjust a vehicle setting through the on screen menus.
I honestly think that they can't judge the size of their massive car. They were nearly in the bushes a few seconds before.
@@Groink1 I'm actually a bit surprised they didn't crowd the other driver off the road. that is what these (us term) pavement princesses do, in the US.
For that level of distraction, I'd say either find something in the glove compartment or pick something up off the floor! Or stop the kids fighting in the back...
@@paulsengupta971 sadly, one of my nieces was distracted last week by a kid having a meltdown in the back seat, and that was enough that a person indicating late and stopping sharply for a turn caught her out.
2:10 to be fair, all the road markings have worn off, bit of a free-for-all. It looks like the big Tescos south of Wellingborough, but that used to have a proper roundabout there.
If any of the drivers is going to face prosecution, I vote we prosecute the last one. That is absolutely criminal. Imagine if the innocent driver hadn't been able to stop in time it would have been a head-on collision, with at least 2 dead! This is dangerous and careless driving. Driving ban, unlimited fine and prison time! Ask the BBB (Bald Belt Barrister) for advice
That last one reminded me of a coworker who’s standard response was
“Just as happy as if they had a brain!”
Thanks for all you do.
Firstly, please don't mistake this for shifting blame as I'm definitely not, but the last clip the cammer could certainly have had much better hazard perception there and been ready to be face to face with an overtaking car given that 3 or 4 cars blindly overtook prior to him getting there. All it would've took is foot off the accelerator and that's a total non-event imo. Still did well to stop, though!
I've faced a similar situation and to my shame, I didn't react quickly enough (there was no cyclist, just a long line of traffic, which the other driver decided to overtake even though I was in clear view). When I think back at it, I think it was a case of not comprehending how someone could do something so stupid, so I took a few moments to process what was actually happening. The other driver was prosecuted for Careless driving.
The cammer stopped, what's the problem?
yeah I mean at the end of the day it's clear who's at fault and it's certainly not the cammer - It's certainly easy to "black out" & just not realise what's going on around you before it may be too late or suddenly you're slamming your breaks on because it's closer than it seemed - I've done similar myself and I think that's what made me want to comment on this incident really. We all live and learn, and we'll only get better by doing so!
There is no problem buddy! Just giving my opinion on another great Ashley Neal video!
Sometimes, just "stopping" isn't enough. Just remember, you're not the only car on the road! Just because both cars stopped here doesn't mean the outcome would be the same if it happened again today.. ALWAYS worth looking at what you can do better as a driver, and if you aren't, you shouldn't really be on the road. @@TPH250290
I love how drivers bully you and then thank you sarcastically afterward
8:12 Unfortunately I think we do need to ban the scooters. The chap in this clip is a perfect example of how a driver will have to live with his death on their conscience even though it's his own fault.
Same in Belgium, I see this kind of behaviour almost daily. Accidents with them are also on the rise, according to official stats.
And also another reason to have a dash cam. If one of such stupid scooter riders happens to hit you, it could be hard to prove they're guilty if there are no witnesses.
Great video, but I'm sure that you would have normally pointed out at 10:37 you can anticipate hazard occurring ahead with the initial overtake. Even let go of the gas and a little on brakes just to be sure everything's good. Cammer's not at fault but I think could do much better. The initial overtake would get my alarm bells ringing early for the next overtake.
The cammer does anticipate the hazard and stop in time though. The other overtakes are normal overtakes of a cyclist, there's no reason to expect that to turn into the lunacy of an idiot driver overtaking a car which is moving to overtake a cyclist.
Agreed that my viewer could have slowed earlier!
@@TPH250290good driving isn’t about how you react to things you expect, rather how you react to things you didn’t expect
@@TPH250290it isn’t even a car overtaking. Seeing a queue of vehicles, you have to think about someone getting impatient and trying a risky overtake. I would have eased off the gas just to give myself more time to react just in case
@@TPH250290 That one second saved could be an inconvenient if not expensive incident. I'd rather lose the one second.
That last one I would have slowed down a bit with the expectation that someone might do what that driver did. Happens an awful lot . Some drivers are like sheep or starlings maybe 🤔.
You'd expect the one behind the cyclist to pull a manoeuvre like that, like a sheep, not the one behind a car!!
@@JohnCarlylea while back I had a van driver overtake a car that was waiting to pull out and over take a bus. There wasn't room for either but luckily there was a junction I could swerve into. As the van driver was working for a well known national company I reported him and was informed by email that he would have to attend a speed awareness course at his own expense.
There is a south to north bus lane in our town and it is amazing how many drivers think people driving south to north should use it so that they (travelling north to south) can use our lane to overtake a stationary bus in their road lane. I just come to a complete stop and make them (and of course everyone else) wait until the bus moves off.
Why do people reverse after stopping passed the lights (as in got stuck when lights changed after going through), and decide to blindly reverse?
Sure, reverse a little so you're not blocking the junction, but twice in this video both drivers reversed back too far.
I think it's sometimes because there isn't a repeater light visible on the opposite side of the junction, so they won't know when the light turns green for them again. Still safer to stay put and wait for the next car behind to nose up to you.
8:15 I actually do think private e-scooters should be legalised. I think you would see a lot more responsible riding as a result. Private e-scooters are currently ridden by a demographic who have scant regard for the rules, as they're breaking the law just by riding one.
Ive recently started walking to work wearing a body camera because the amount of times ive had cars run red lights on me when ive had the green man at pedestrian crossings. Sometimes they will during rush hour queue accross a junction blocking the junction and pedestrian crossing up too.
I'm actually also considering wearing a body cam whilst walking. Occassionally I have pointed my phone at approaching cars when crossing and I have the green pedestrian light. I will say though, I haven't actually had my phone video running. it's more as a deterent.
Has the highway code changed again and red lights are optional and now just a warning it might be a bit iffy driving through? I am seeing it more and more in front of me and not the late amber gamblers or someone distracted I am talking the one's who accelerate as they try to push through. Why are people so impatient and intolerant these days? You even see it in supermarket car parks people driving at stupid speeds, not giving any ground to pedestrians.
At around 6:16 re "Handbags at dawn". You certainly have a way with words Ash. Never heard of that.
As for the incident itself. Maybe I'm missing something but from what I saw at the beginning, the Ford was indicating left in the right hand lane and the Bentley was indicating right from the left hand lane. If that was indeed the case, they could have both used this to their advantage and simply swapped places with each other. This is a technique I often use to my advantage and the advantage of the other driver. Seems insane to turn a plus into a negative!
The road rage was inexcusable. However, that section of road is really constrained in design due to the river and buildings and very confusing if you've never gone through there before. It also got a redesign a few years back (ok, 2017, but that feels like not long ago), and if anyone's still using in-car GPS maps that haven't been updated in a while, it'll be telling them to do really funky stuff. If you want to follow along on a map, the clip starts on the A229 next to All Saints Church in Maidstone. Have a quick scroll towards the 'roundabout' over the water, and see the directional arrows that are everywhere due to the bypass lane they put in! One of the few sections of road I'm super glad I never have to travel across again.
To give anyone a bit of an insight, from the clip start you have that sign that shows you which lanes go where. Other than the rightmost lane that takes you back around the one-way system, the left two lanes actually go the same place, and you get a further opportunity to get into a more appropriate lane further down the road. To REALLY confuse things, even if you get stuck in the leftmost lane, you can still go the direction of the other lane by just using the roundabout section of the next junction rather than the bypass section. There's almost no reason at all, ever, to jockey for position as you come past the church if you want to continue along the A229.
Poorly designed roads, poorly driven, and a poorly thinking raging driver to top it all off.
@@neothermic1 Really appreciate the time you've taken to provide such a detailed insight into this situation. I'm actually in Canterbury, so not that far away. I tend to avoid Maidstone, as I have got caught up in pretty bad traffic there just passing through the town. As such, I have tended to use alternate routes by taking different exits off the M20. I will re-read your comments as well as re-watch that clip to see if I even remember going through that stretch. Thank You again.
Yup, neither of them needed to change lanes.
I laugh at all these "experienced drivers" that have been "driving 40 years". Back then they didn't do theory tests, so they're NOT experienced or qualified for modern standards!! Their eyesight and reactions are also older and slower! My mum's the same and her driving is getting terrible. Trying to get her to give up for her own safety as her eyes aren't great.
e scooter legalization should happen, however training is obviously required.
nice to see mike hammer make an appearance 😅
That first clip of the BMW going straight across a mini roundabout totally on the wrong side. More a case of Car Very Horizontal rather than Car Vertical!
8:19
The rest of the video shows people using cars improperly, so if electric scooters shouldn't be allowed then the same argument works just as well for banning cars.
it's wise to always consider there is a possibility of someone coming in the wrong direction. it's not common, but it does often require a quick response.
The driver in the last clip should've used his brain too 🤣
111 JF was reported as stolen on 12th November 2023
in the clip with the mondeo, this is a common problem, that particular exit is nicknamed "crash corner" for a reason by local driving instructors
The clip at 2:20 and regarding going to the same destination as another driver after a road incident. Many years ago in Canada I arrived at work and one of my coworkers was looking absolutely mortified. So naturally I asked them what's wrong, to which they replied "I think I just gave our CEO the finger". They went on to say that when they saw the car they they had the incident with turn into the company car park, my co worker decided to take a detour and head into work a few minutes later. At which point they noticed the other car parked in the spot reserved for the CEO!
a friend of mine once gave the finger to her pastor. at which point the warning, "anything you say or do may be used in a sermon" applies.
I had an incident ages ago, when I worked in a petrol station, of a MBIF forcing his way around at a merge point, only to pull into the station I was on my way to work at. I had to restrain myself from telling him, "pushing in front of me didn't gain you much, did it?"
@@kenbrown2808 Actually you've reminded me. One time I was on my way to one of my (numerous) cross border trips into the US. I had decided to take one of the quieter border crossings to the east in what's known as the Fraser Valley, BC. I had this car ahead going quite slow on the two way road for miles and couldn't overtake. But I kept a very respectable distance behind as I always do. Just as well I did because when we got to the border, it became evident that the driver was a Canadian border guard, on their way to work! Now of course, when you cross the border into the US, you are "greeted" by US customs. It's only coming back to Canada that you deal with Canada Customs. However, I couldn't help wondering that had I misbehaved on the roads, would the then off duty Canadian officer have made a note of my plate number and entered it into their system for me to have a "more detailed" inspection upon my return to Canada and maybe for a few more crossings in the future, regardless also of which border crossing I may use. And perhaps they'd share that information with US Customs for me to be sent into what's known as Secondary Inspection on future trips into the US. 🇺🇲🇨🇦
@@ibs5080 which in return reminds me of a story a carpenter I work with had of one of his crossings. his son bought a house in Alaska, and he was driving up to help him remodel. the Canadian border guards made him unload his van so they could inspect it for weapons. they thought they'd scored, when they found several military ammunition cans. and then were terribly disappointed when the "ammunition" the cans were carrying was stacks of nails for nail guns.
At 2:20. I think the cammer was as much at fault as the other driver here. There was no reason at all for the slight jink to the left before turning to the right. That jink to the left must have made it look like the car was heading around to the left. Who actually has right of way here anyway - it it not marked out as a mini roundabout. Great awareness from the passenger though.
There is a general principle that you always give way to traffic from the right, whether there are markings or not. I wouldn't have moved until I knew exactly where the cammer was going.
My thoughts exactly. Have to be cautious of our "body language".
That last clip, the Audi driver needs more than just lessons!
Are there a few drug dealers driving around Liverpool lol!
Far too little patience, far too much poor attitude. So many need to slow it down. It never ceases to amaze me how many would rather risk a collision than just back down and give space. Such terrible attitudes have led me to wrap up coach driving. I just cannot be doing with having to do battle with errant road users that don’t want to use their brains anymore.
It be better to be a few minutes late to your destination than a week late cuz your car needed repairs
We all take a snipe at insurance companies every year when our premiums increase but looking at clips like these that so often result in accidents, can we really blame them ?
People have a serious “gotta pass the bike” syndrome and they literally forget about everything else. Was nearly involved in a bad crash when a guy did a blind pass next to me descending a mountain road here in Colorado about two months ago. Worth noting that I was already at the speed limit, as it’s a super awesome downhill. I hit the brakes and backed off when they went for it just in case. Thankfully nothing came of it even though they missed an oncoming car by about 15 ft or so. Best part was they didn’t get that far ahead and we ended up stopped at a light at the bottom of the hill together anyway lol. Patience is critical and people need to develop some. The other people who passed me did a fine job, it was really just that nutcase who couldn’t wait literally 5 seconds for an open passing zone. That’s sincerely all the time they woulda had to wait.
Truly all sort of shenanigans going on.
The way he said "use your brain" in such a world-weary way lol
At around 2:03, the speed of the wrong way lorry suggests they genuinely thought they weren't doing anything wrong, as opposed to purposely trying to carry out an illegal manoeuvre. Most likely not a local and the fact that the two opposing carriageways are quite far apart with a very wide central grass reservation might give the impression they are two seperate parallel roads. This is where North American road markings might help. Yellow for two way and white for one way. I believe it's the same in Ireland.
the old US joke applies: a woman calls her husband, and says, "be careful, the news says there is a wrong way driver on the freeway." the husband replies, "it's not just one, there's dozens of them."
I have, as a truck driver, made wrong turns before and you do sometimes just have to keep going because it would be impossible to turn around safely; might not be able to turn-in-the-road due to traffic., might not be able to reverse safely, etc. What I have NEVER done, is go the wrong way down a road. There seem to be pretty clear arrow markings on that road and most dual carriageways/one way roads across the UK have "no entry" markers wherever you might be able to easily get onto the wrong side of the road.
Now, not saying it doesn't happen, can't happen or didn't happen (the clip is proof it did and does) but I would question WHY it happened. And I am guessing it's not paying attention properly while following a satnav or something.
@@pelicanofpunishment6 quite likely, it involved a driver from the continent. I know when I visited the UK, when riding in the car (I didn't try driving at all) every time we made a left turn, I would have gone into the wrong side of the road if I'd been driving.
@@kenbrown2808 A possibility. Fairly new to the UK if so. I work with a few HGV drivers from the continent that haven't done that even after a few months here. Would be a quick thing to pick up.
@@pelicanofpunishment6 I was thinking first cross channel trip.
At around 5:00 I have to wonder if the Mondeo driver even knew where they were going. Had they stuck to the correct lane all the way, they would have got to their intended exit in pretty much the same time...and a lot safer!
I have a phrase for those drivers. "I've no idea where I'm going, but I'm going there quickly."
@@nigelcox1451 Good one!
I was thinking they were telling themselves they had used all the available road and merged in turn, until they cut back across.
At 2:20, I noticed a complete lack of mini roundabout markings and it gives the appearance of one very wide open free for all. However even with lack of the aforementioned markings, I think it's pretty obvious it's a mini roundabout and to Give Way to the right. And yes, I'm well aware that in itself has been the subject of much debate.
The issue was probably that the car emerging from the left had assumed the car approaching was going to turn left, probably into the supermarket, rather than turn right into the petrol station. You know what they say about assuming things. I'm not entirely sure I'd have indicated right to go to the petrol station, but probably would have.
@@paulsengupta971 I make it a rule to indicate right at mini-roundabouts if I'm turning right. I also treat everyone else approaching from any direction like they've never watched this channel.
0:59 That junction is around 200 yards from where my parents live, and I use it fairly regularly. The timings aren't great on the lights and the approaches on all sides are somewhat tight. Incidents like this happen fairly regularly here, especialy vehicles approaching from the direction of the cammer. cars shoving through the junction when they get impatient with the short green light, trying to reverse back off the junction after they get caught out or shoving down the outside into oncoming traffic when there's a large vehicle to the left.
Never skip leg day.
Yes, and with the "season of goodwill to all" just around the corner, it's set to get worse.
9:46 lets hope those blue lights where a police car 😂
On "should scooters be legalised": it's not the vehicle's fault if its user is a wazzock. If it had been a cyclist making that manoeuvre (and as a cyclist myself, I see this kind of thing often enough), I doubt Ashley would be asking "should bicycles still be legal?".
At around 5:27, atrocious driving by the white Audi driver. Any time I'm approaching an exit but wanting to carry on the main carriageway myself, or indeed exiting, I'm always on the lookout for this sort of thing. I've come quite close to being taken out by these kinds of antics.
10:38 should've seen that coming.
I'd have definitely been easing my speed off seeing the traffic coming the other way behaving like that...
a good driver misses their exit every once in a while, a bad driver NEVER misses their exit.
I had a similar overtaking incident like this on a 60 mph road when suddenly a impatient driver overtakes just seconds away from a head on collision, i really did poo my pants a little but we share the road with these morons
At around 9:26, kudos to the cammer for holding back behind the line on a green light, due to two vehicles already in the intersection waiting. And appalling behaviour by the car behind to then jump the light after it turned red just to follow through on the other two vehicles that were stuck waiting for a while, through no fault of their own. Obviously our cammer had came to an accurate assessment regarding that last driver by observing the manner of their driving leading up to that incident.
i had someone yesterday i was doing 30 in a 30 and some old guy pulls out on me and i think i see him saying slow down and i was doing 30 and he was the one who pulled out on me like what the f*ck
i should get a dashcam
But having more experience automatically gives you priority…didn’t you hear that in the video “I’ve been driving 30 years….”
😉🤣

Should Scooter be legalised... NO!
But i've seen an argument for them... "They are ideal for people of such a low level of fitness that they can't use an ebike to start with"
My advice to them would be that they were better off getting a treadmill and starting at the lowest setting, UNPLUGGED!, than be a public highway menace... Then after a few sessions they could up the level to LVL1.
Nice to see the Sparkly Berkeley avoiding the learner car +. Well done to ALL the good forward- thinking drivers. Shame about the rest 🤦🏻♀️
Unfortunately for whatever reason, when following a cyclist, some drivers just buckle under the pressure of having to follow for 15/30 seconds at a low speed, until there’s a safe opportunity to pass. They then, risk everybody’s life by passing when it isn’t safe to do so.
2.05 The co-op were not very co-operative letting keep his job I hope.
the coop have lovely dash cams fitted i have forwarded he clip to the driver training department and would love to see the licence plate more clearly and the date would be great cheers
@@sgraham15 Yeah time the cammer bought a better quality cam.
8:16 It is not the scooter at fault, it’s the idiot using it….Tarring all scooters with the same brush is blatantly unfair on responsible riders. You could ask as easily upon seeing a badly driven BMW…Should BMWs be banned? I hope people realise it is the individual bad behaviour that needs correcting…Not ruining the experience for everybody.
The title assumes that some drivers have functioning brains, which a lot clearly haven't.This is after having 44 years of driving, and being an ex driving instructor!
Driving standards are getting worse, and getting lower, unfortunately.
I am still learning!
The red light jumping BMW has illegal low contrast number plates - that is ALWAYS a sign of someone who doesnt give shit about driving safely or legally.
What really pisses me off - is the police routinely ignoring cars with these plates; I live in a small, rural town, and there are several cars so fitted that the police drive past every single day without taking action.
Instead of pricing us off the roads, the authorities need to do something about these brainless drivers and make our roads a safer place.
The last clip Ashley underlines the problem with cyclists . Yes it was a dangerous overtake but look at the length of the queue behind the cyclist. As a tractor driver ie another slow moving vehicle we are obliged to pull over if we have more 5 vehicles behind us, when it is safe to do so. Cyclists should be more aware of what is behind them
My guess on the range rover is it's someone's Mrs who was used to how small her Fiat 500 was, isn't aware that she's in a range rover now. People are always coming from regular hatchbacks upgrading to SUVs forget how big and powerful their new vehicle is.
I tend not to think of people as idiots but just as human beings. All human beings make mistakes and it is all about making allowances for these mistakes. If we assumed humans were perfect, there would be a lot more commercial airliner crashes. I try and avoid having overlaps with other vehicles, particularly at higher speeds. I tend to think about what you say regarding clearing junctions/roundabouts when on the motorway and keep a focus on clearing the overlap. Holding back if a vehicle in front prevents me from clearing the overlap and speeding up once it is safe to pass.
6:09, White car has pulled out and is overtaking the "Gold" Car. I cant tell if the Gold car is indicting. At the same time the car with the roof box is pulling cross the white line to overtake the cammer, both have seen an opportunity to overtake and both went for it. 6:10 Gold car starts to change lane but the white car is along side. As I cant tell if the Gold car is indicating, I will go the incident is made by the driver of the Gold car not looking, not the driver of the white car for overtaking. If the Gold car was indicting before the white cap pulled out I'd change my opinion.
Bentley driver - that was maidstone, past archbishops, awful bit of road, constant lane swapping all the time and further back the lanes get narrow meaning large vehicles have no choice but to straddle the lanes and people will squeeze past beeping, I hate it!!!!
5:10 "the white Audi driver" is a bit pleonastic. "The Driver" should be descriptive enough and should match their representation of themselves.
The mistake is obvious in the thumbnail. When overtaking always have a big red circle round your vehicle so that your presence is obvious. Then you can do what you like...
10:40 there is no brain to use. 😖
I expect it has been said before, but when you consider up to half the drivers on the road are below average intelligence... it tends to make you drive a bit differently.
If scooters are banned because some riders are dangerous, then bicycles will have to be banned because some cyclists run red lights etc. Then public will call for cars lorrys & buses to be banned, because idiots run red lights etc. Then shopping trolleys because idiots bump into people. Where does it end?
Suprised you didnt have another take on that last clip tbh, Ash - i would perhaps have slowed down way more if i was the cammer? clearly driving into danger
9:30 What is up with the sequencing of those lights? How can the dashcammer's lights turn red but oncoming traffic still has a green leaving right turners stranded? If it's so oncoming traffic can turn right, why doesn't the dashcammer's direction also have a separate light for right turns so both straight and left go for both directions, then right turns both go after?
nice joke about the Co-Op driver.
edit: 8:50 they came flying up towards the roundabout, so if it was someone on a test then they should have failed for their speed.
I don't understand the hands up if you need lessons. You obviously want that driver not to make the mistake in the first place. But really the mistake has happened, so if they say sorry with that motion they get the hands up if you need lessons and if they look forward not apologise (or in the petrol station case ignore you in the store) they get flack for that instead? What's the point?
I actually work for the coop (not in logistics I'm happy to say after this video). Named and shamed!
Follow the rules, even if you don't like them, I may not like having to share with motor vehicles, but I don't get a choice in the matter, most of the rules keep you safer (even if it is still very precarious) I would argue that cyclists should be allowed to give way at stop signs though, studies show it is safer when this is allowed. Stop signs are placed because motorists have a poor view into closed junctions, if I slow to walking pace I can easily assess most junctions before emerging, and it takes far less time to clear if I am rolling at 3MPH than if I have to stop and accelerate from 0!
In instances where a cyclist would have to stop, perhaps put a smaller red octagon with a picture of a bike below the stop sign? Still, it's the law, so I do it! Sucks when you hit a bunch of stop signs and have to wait where you could easily have emerged safely!
8:15 - (scooter rider) after watching the rest of the video of people doing the same thing in legal cars that are 100x more dangerous....
