I am a nephrologist and kidney doctor who believes that the best tool to reduce the burden of kidney disease globally is not medication, lab tests, or even genetics research. Instead, knowledge of kidney disease can best protect our kidneys.
This channel is part of the kidney disease awareness project I have worked on for years. It started with long conversations with kidney patients in the office and hospital. During these conversations, I was perplexed to see patients’ lack of knowledge about their kidney disease.
To fill this gap, I developed a blog for kidney disease patients, “Kidneyblogs.com,” where patients could find the correct information-and access a nephrologist for kidney-related questions. But then, I realized that not all Urdu- and Hindi-speaking patients could read English, and many preferred listening. This revelation led to the formation of the UA-cam channel you will explore.

I am 24years female. just 2months ago, During my routine check up i was found microscopic hematuria and proteinuria but all the blood tests was normal. My doctor suggested renal biopsy, then i was diagnosed with Ig A nephropathy. My nephrologist just gave me medicine liike losartan 50, wysolone 20. I went to different nephrologists but no body explained like you did. I was shocked and confused about this disease. I just saw this video, it is well explained. I am from Nepal. Dear dr, i have been diagnosed iga vascultis through skin biopsy
and i have consisntent hematuria and occassional proteinuria.
My rheum has referred me to the nephrologost to see if i may be a candidate for kidney biospy.
However the neph tells me he expects to find the same conclusion in kidney as in skin and therefore he doesnt see the need to poke a healthy organ unneccessarily.
My kidney function is AH fine despite the hematuria and proteinuria.
I keep getting it checked every 3 months.
My question is that i this scenario should i consider that i have iga nephropathy or that i m at risk to develop it?
Sir you already have IgA nephropathy. Your nephrologist need to start you on treatment to control proteinuria.

Doctor, I have a suggestion. If you have space available at your outlet in Lahore, I can offer and deliver easier and more practical methods through alternative practices that people can adopt as daily habits. These methods include acupressure and inner cleansing, which in simple terms have similar effects to performing ablution (wadzu). To sum it up, these practices work naturally. I live outside of the city and do not have any space within the city to interact with people. If you have space available, it would be great to add these services to your existing offerings.

Im male, 35, with IGA nephropathy, eFGR just above 30, pcr 0.2. I am taking valsartan 80mg and Farxiga 10mg. My nephrologist aslo giving me lypanthyl for cholesteol, and asked to keep using it. I am eating less than 60g of protein daily, trying to eat healthy, and lose weight (current bmi is 26.5)

What does studies say about stress with regards to IGA Nephropathy? I believe i was in too much stress when i started observing symptoms of it. And is IGA caused by high BP or its otherwise. Wanted to know reason other than genetics
I dont think IgA is directly linked to any specific gene yet. And stress can do a lot of bad things to our bodies. I am not sure we directly blame stress for IgA.

There is no best time for taking these medication. the best time is the time that you take it daily.

you can take those capsules for as long as you want. But they dont do much for IgA as per research.

No diabetes and blood pressure is normal , echoginity in kidneys is found in ultrasound. Is biopsy needed to found the cause or DMSA scan can provide the information
Biopsy may help. But you need a good nephrologist to make the diagnosis of your kidney disease.

What is the criteria to say a person is in remission from iga nephropathy?
I just received fresh results today. There was no hematuria or proteinuria and egfr and creatanine r also normal AH.
The only thing i take is losartan.
I have been getting tests every 3 months for last 6 yrs ever since diagnosis.
Can i increase this gap now?

You should put all these questions to your nephrologist. Remission means when your proteinuria is completely resolved. And regarding the frequency of tests and follow up that is up to your nephrologist.

Ji primary ka usually matlb hota hai kay body kay under say he koi damaging protein apkay gurday ko nuqsab puhncha raha hai.

Hello doctor, I just diagnosed with IgA nephroprathy. Before kidney biopsy my serum cretanine was 1.9 and after 10 days it’s 2.2. Is it normal ? Or it’s showing fast progression ?

I am not taking any medicines doctor. It will start from tomorrow ? I am little bit worried about the progress. In Aug 2023 it was 1.38, March 2024 it’s 1.77 and then again in next 2 days it was 1.9 and then after biopsy 2.2. Pls suggest

I am diagnosed with IGA nephropathy in may 2023.but My creatinine was 2 in Nov 2022 ,and My BP was High but unfortunately i met with very Inferior Nephrologist. He not proscribed good medicine and not aware me for the disease.
My creatinine increased from 2 to 3 in just 4 months.
After that I changed nephrologist and Done kidney biopsy in may 2023 And diagnosed with IGA nephropathy.But my GFR was 28
My nephrologist proscribed me just blood pressure control medicine
Telsar 40,
Amloguard 5 mg
Sobosis 1000
Aten 50
From last 8 month my creatinine is stable Between 3.3 to 3.7.
But decrease in urine output.
My question to you
Can i go for steroids .
I can stay healthy 5 year without transplant if i follow healthy lifestyle.
First of all I am sorry that our doctors are sometimes not as ideal as they should be. But I am glad that you found the right person.
I am suprised that you need that much medicine jus to control your blood pressure alone, which can only be a lifestyle issue. If you cut your salt, sugar, and refined carbohydrates, do regular exercise, and sleep 7 hours, you will hardly need any medicine for BP.
Right now you need all of them. Yes, if you still have significant proteinuria, you can discuss with your nephrologist about steroids. If you have no proteinuria, I wouldn't suggest any steroids or immununosupression.
Lastly, you should ask your doctor about filspari and SGLT2 inhhibitors.

Ji I am not sure ap ka proteinuria kion control nahi ho raha. Agar ap hum say aik second opinion laina chahain tu is number per call kar saktay hain.

Sir I got CKD 1 from urethral stricture. My creatinine is 0.80 mg/dl. Urine Microalbumin is negative. Ultrasound is normal and doesn’t show any damage. However, the only damage that I have right now is that my Urine specific gravity remains fixed- 1.010. It doesn’t change with my body hydration level. It is the only evidence of my kidney damage. My question is that is it possible to stop my CKD after urethroplasty for my urethral stricture. It is the root cause of my CKD 1. Is it possible to stop CKD at 1st stage after eliminating the root cause
You dont have any CKD. I am not sure who told you that you have CKD.
@@kidneyblogs Sir my Urine specific gravity does not change. I did 3 different urine routine test and it always stayed 1.010. It’s Isosthenuria in your medical term. My rest of things are in normal range.

JI Cr 1.3 is higher than normal. You should get a complete health check and make sure you dont have diabetes and high blood pressure that might be causing CKD.

Ji sir you need to see a nephrologist and find out the cause of her proteinuria. If she continues to have proteinuria like this she would develop complete kidney failure in a few years, may be less than 2 years. So she has to stop her proteinuria as early as possible
