A cortado is a popular smaller-sized hot coffee beverage that contains espresso and warm milk.
The balance between the espresso and milk is 1:1, (about half espresso, half milk). This amount of milk primarily serves to reduce the acidity of the espresso. It’s also important to note that the warm milk in the cortado is steamed, but it doesn’t have as much froth or milk foam as other Italian coffee beverages.
Many coffee fanatics have become increasingly obsessed with the cortado due to its simple structure and international notoriety. Due to its permanently set smaller size, altering or customizing the size of the drink is often a non-negotiable factor. Even at large-chain coffee shops like Starbucks, Peet’s Coffee and Tea, and Costa, most will only serve the cortado in this pre-determined cup size.
I inadvertently made a cortado this morning! Thanks so much for the instructions.
Thank you 🙏 This is a very straightforward tutorial. You saying the the amount of milk to espresso gave me the picture right away. Then your execution was easy and uncomplicated.
Cortado is my go to caffeinated drinks
Love a cortado, need to start trying it at home. Thanks for this. Quick question - do you start the extract timing at the pre-infusion or when the droplets first appear under the portafilter?
pov: you watchnig bc it is the the new Emma's coffee
Great video! What's that industrial looking grinder you use?
We recently got a Delonghi Magnifica S Ecam and I have managed to froth milk for a cappuccino but haven't made a latte yet. I really want to make a Cortado using this machine but aren't 100% sure how. This video has helped quite a bit,but I need more tips regarding frothing the milk for a Cortado.
Believe the key is to let less air in (he said just a couple paper tearing sound and then submerge the wand tip in the milk), so u get less foam.
i love reading your blog. just discovered your UA-cam channel. amazing
Good explanation! However, cortado does not mean "to cut," rather "(was) cut" as in the past participle of "cortar" (to cut.)
Thank you for this video , it helped me alot 🙏🏻
Nice instructional video. But Gawd damn this man is absolutely beautiful haha.
Can you do 18 grams instead of 16.5?
Excellent tutorial. Love the to the point dialogue and instruction.
Also, damn. This man is total marriage material 😂 lol
Is there coffee with brew to water ratio about 2/3?
I’m here bc of Kale Vandelay wanted one. I need a few since all the machines on the island are De-Caf
My fav coffee drink
How to get the heart with so little foam?
Single shot how many grams of ground coffee
So it's not really a hot drink? Just a little warm?
love it!
DIVINE!!!!
Should call this video…”Me making a cortado”
So perfect
I cannot take my eye away from your nose ring! Disturbing.... Love the vid! :)
Austin thanks
Cortar means to cut, cortado means chopped up, like already cut up
That looks to me more like a small latte than a cortado. Not sure in another regions but where I am from, in Spain they could cut your throat if you do that to an expresso...
Obviously everything evolves in different ways, but originally, as far as I know, a cortado refers to "cut" the strong flavor from the expresso with just a drop of milk, which gives it more softness.
claro un cortao lleva na y meno leche tu sabe, el lo que ha hecho es un cafe con leche vaya
It's to do with the size of the glass and the ratio of coffee to milk. It's about 1:1. A double shot of espresso isn't normal for a latte. You'd also generally steam hotter and add more air to the milk than what's shown here for a latte. And on top of that the vessel is completely different.
It's not always about what it looks like. Try to pay attention.
amazing
How to make a cortado at home; shown in a coffee shop? 🤔
It's meant for people who own consumer espresso machines with steam wands. If you're interested check them out :p
He lives there!
@@ElCid_86 still? Been a year now.
Change the foamed milk to Aalborg akvavit with a little sugar after 6 to 8 cups it doesn't matter anymore.
keep it up boss! #jielene
What barista uses the word "bitter" to describe a good espresso shot?
e a r t h y
An honest one? Even the most dialed espressos have bitterness, especially to people who aren't used to drinking espresso.
There is no sweet coffee… they are all bitter .
120? So lukewarm coffee in Kentucky I guess
that's the point of the drink lmao
Is anyone else going to ignore the fact that nobody pulls a 60 mL shot......especially from 16.5 grams of coffee.....uhhggg
He did say he's pulling 40g which is closer to 40ml, not 2oz or 60ml as he said. Still weak as piss though.
👍😋👍
But its not at home ..
Hahaha that's what I thought? I don't have a coffee shop "at home".
16.5 to 40 gram? Why?
Spanish torrefacto roast is so bitter that you have to add milk and probably sugar to cope with the bitterness. It is as awful as it is traditional.
Who’s here after watching fantasy high sophomore year?
I can barely hear you speak with all that background music playing.
I can hear him perfectly idk get new speakers ig
16 in 40 out.. Interesting
Cortado=Cutted
16gm in, 40 out? No wonder it's bitter
What is a better way? New to coffee making
@@24eu look up brew yield ratio. Beyond 1:2 (for 16 thats 32), it starts to pull bitters.. some people like it, I don't. Experiment with different ratios for your own coffee beans and taste.
please roll your ‘r’ when you pronounce cortado.
