Some guy asked me to make this once, I asked someone else what it was they said a small flat white, I presented the small flat white to him and he said "oh no I asked for a cortado" I walk around for a moment and bring the exact same small flat white I already prepared to him "here's your cortado" I say "great thank you" he said it was just right

This is why I call a flat white a tw@t white. They don't really know what they want, they just want to pretend they know coffee.

See a lot of misinformed or wrong comments here: That's the way how a Cortado shall be prepared: e.g. Prepare a 36-40ml espresso on an 18g dosage. Avoid a too acidic espresso. Add same amount milk (1:1 ratio) 36-40ml, microfoamed. THATS IT!. Cortado means 'cut'. The addition of micro-steamed milk makes the pure espresso taste sensation feel lighter as opposed to no milk but not as milky such as cappuccino or latte. Thus, Cortado is a drink that is categorized in between espresso and latte/cappuccino. Good luck!

Before coffe pouring why u throw hot water......???????it will helps to make expresso hot?
warming up the glass supposedly / rinsing also but most times is not necessary. The temperature of the milk also how hot the final product is going to be. I usually fill porcelain / china cups with hot water and leave it for 30 seconds before doing the coffee gets poured if the customer want's it extra hot then heat up the milk to the boiling point and serve it to them . People that ask for extra hot don't know how to drink coffee, they just want to sit and talk in the caffe shop for hours and their coffee not to get cold so I boil the milk for them. I never get complains: "You wanted it extra hot, didn't you". The worse are those asking for a cappuccino extra hot . Those are truly clueless about coffee.

2oz espresso is too much. 1 oz is the standard. For Cortado, the same amount of milk 1oz is the right way. Just so you know, cortado means 'cut'. The milk makes the espresso taste feel lighter as opposed to no milk. Cortado is a drink that fits in between espresso and latte.

The flat white is a small latte, with the same texture as milk, but with a more intense flavor. The cortado is smaller and the ratio is 1 to 1 espresso and milk with a cappuccino texture. .
@@lukkas1759 not the original recipe actually. Here in spain, where the cortado literally was invented its always made with a shot of espresso and just a tiny bit of milk something between 75%espresso/25%milk up to 90%espresso/10%milk
For some reason outside Spain Portugal and a big part of south america they all think it is 50/50 when its not

For cortado Shouldn't make by extra foam. Cortado always preferred micro foam. So you are failed to follow coffee making method.

@@blossompure No way, a cortado, that's from where it's name comes from, is a dash of milk to "cut" the bitterness of the coffee. If you put as much milk as you would in a white coffee, the only difference is the size.
