Dan Jacobson™ So do I. It takes me back to when I was about 7 years old back in 2008. It gets me excited like a massive fanboy as soon as I hear this song.
I'm gonna get hate for this, but I found the older episodes too soap opera-y. I liked Smith and Capaldi's run more, which I felt had more balanced emotions and Sci-Fi.
I feel like no one talks enough about the part that, to me, makes this theme so good; The DRUMS. That constant beat behind everything makes this theme hit so much harder than it would otherwise. The violins, guitar and all of it are elevated to a new level by the drums.
If you pay attention and listen, the sound of drums The Master makes in some episodes, has the same tempo as Doctor Who intros, including this one. (You can probably hear it more clearly if you play both at the same time, specially when the intro is at 0:03 seconds)
The urgency in this theme is impeccable. I'm not a huge fan of the 7b title sequence but the energy in that theme is great and kinda tricked me into loving that series for a while. We need more themes in the show with this kind of energy. We've had the spooky mysterious themes, we've had some insanely 80's/90's electronic themes, we've even had a few orchestral themes, but the urgency and drum heavy 4 theme shouldn't be alone. Hoping that Ncuti or one of his successors get a theme along these lines
Saaaaaaame. Moffat wasn’t all bad but this really brings me back to the glory of the RTD years and hope these are now back with Chibnall at the helm...
WOW NOSTALGIA. Definitely the best intro. Series 4 is also the best modern series imo. Donna and Tennant's chemistry was excellent. I also liked Series 3 with Martha and the last 2 seasons with Capaldi.
The intro from the first one to this was went from ~Mysterious and Weird~ to *THE DOCTOR IS GOING PUNCH EVIL RIGHT IN THE FACE! HE'S GONNA SAVE EVERYONE IN THE MOST INTENSE WAY*
TheRealMoch Yeh Yesssssss! But that is what I think about every Doctor Who theme. The doctor arrives in a place where there is trouble then the doctor sorts it out to say the day.
I absolutely love how Murray Gold's themes just got angrier as the show went on. The 60th anniversary one has just dropped and mixes them all together so beautifully. But nothing hits more than this.
@@CameronKiesser Haha, fair enough. I do really miss these times of Doctor Who though. Sad to think that it'll never even come close to being a good show again.
I miss this era of Doctor Who, the memories of 2008 when I was 6 years old watching these episodes. The nostalgia. Wish I could go back. Hands down the golden age of modern Doctor Who. Not the wreck that the show is today.
To be very honest, I preferred this theme and opening credits than the Matt Smith era. Mainly because the TARDIS flying through the time vortex instead of thunder clouds portrays what Doctor Who is all about. The actual theme song sounds very alien and mysterious and nicely complements to the older Doctor Who themes. However, the theme for Matt Smith's Doctor sounds more adventurous. I can say it's different in a good way and thankfully the change doesn't drastically affect anything.
MeMyselfAndTARDIS actually, it does change a lot. Matt’s theme was horrible. It’s too slow and doesn’t fit right with Doctor Who. Well, I guess that’s because Matt was a terrible doctor so he has a terrible theme to go with him.
I started watching in thr 80's when I was a kid and am still just as enthusiastic now! and if the video is still up in another 12 years I hope I will still be replying 🙂
If you guys didn't know theres a difference between the 2007 December version compared to the 2008 version the 2007 has alot more drums, if you compare you can hear it
i love the electric guitar feel at the start of it. It always gives me goose bumps. Its just a shame they only used it for one episode but i guess, using this intro once makes it all that more special and unique. Best doctor who intro ever by far
I love this version of the theme. The drums and guitar get ya pumped for the adventure ahead. Wish they'd continued to use this into the Matt Smith-era. The energy kick of this theme goes with his manchild Doctor perfectly.
I can't get this memory out of my head of me waking up later one night with my tv on hearing the intro of this song. It is beyond nostalgic how I feel whenever I hear it. The drumming start with the guitar! Hopefully one day this cultural phenomenon will be restored in the future
this is the best doctor who theme, hands down, the cello, the percussion, that bit just as the main melody comes in where they descend down the drum set, it's absolutely perfect, if i were to have an ochestra play something, it would be this, just imagine a rescreening of midnight with a full orchestra playing the score, chefs kiss
This is one of my favourite versions of the theme. It rather effortlessly shifts between driven seriousness and sheer excitement-I think the drums and piano help.
For some reason that moment when the vortex stops and the camera pans around the tardis before zooming off again is the BIGGEST FUCKING NOSTALGIA TRIP i can have. I don't know why. That image just brings so much feeling and emotion back to me from my childhood.
