  • Grait Outdoors is Graeme and Caitlin!
We hope you enjoy Part I of our "Through the Heart of the Park - An Algonquin Loop" Series. Each episode has a different theme, where we dive deeper into certain aspects of our trip. The first is // PORTAGE //
In this episode we begin our adventure at the North end of Lake Opeongo. We travel through several lakes and rivers over two days to end up on Catfish Lake. We portaged over 8000m to begin our trip and go over why we single carry, how to interpret elevation, importance of taking breaks, and strategies to complete them as a team.
Joining us on this trip was Graeme's brother, Kieran, and Graeme and Cait's roomie and best friend, Noah. Of course, Rook (Rookie), Graeme and Cait's Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever, leads the way.
All footage captured on the GoPro MAX.
This trip took place on the traditional territory of the Anishinabewaki and Omàmìwininìwag (Algonquin).
    MAP Reference: Jeff's Map
Note: The mushroom was already dislodged and sitting by the fire pit when we arrived.

We loved this series! We love Rook ❤️ he’s got some similarities to Emma with the rolling around all over the ground after a swim 😂 such a cutie.

Looking forward to the whole series! I worked for many years at that AO location, driving water taxi on Opeongo lake & had an amazing time living & working there!

I've always enjoyed the Big Crow route but that portage is tough. Looking forward to the rest!

I've heard there are some other amazing sites on the lake, will have to return! Yes, the length of some of those were a bit tough!

Great video! solid breakdown of your tackle box - always a big difference between how many lures you want and need. An easy day needed for sure after all that portaging

Just subbed to your channel, late to the party but glad I came. Wow over 7k portage in a day and you guys still look fresh. Will keep watching and looking forward to more of your content.
