I am old school I just like bikes with normal clutches ,normal gears ,proper throttle cables , no fancy modes or even ABS , just normal controls . I don’t even bother setting the time ,if they have a clock, I wouldn’t know where to start on one of those modern BWW ‘s with all that on board tech. I reckon a 1200 is already powerful enough ,to pull two people & luggage at 80 odd mph all day down a motorway, with loads more to be had . I don’t see the point of a 1300 version with more HP & tech . 👍

@@TinsonTour I agree most of the time on normal roads we can only plod about . Even on faster roads ,we take a chance with 🔔ends that pull out or come at us on our side of the road . I have well downsized & find I am mainly doing similar speeds on normal roads as I see those on You tube riding huge bikes doing . 👍

Great bike, what you aspect from BMW. My old VL1500 is approaching 90 00KM, starting to look for new bike. Tried sitting on a adventure, Suzuki V Strom, my wife is only 5 foot and struggled to get on rear. Likely be sticking to a cruiser, happy wife equals happy life. Having ridden for over 40 years with no screen, small screen, large screen, fixed screen, manual screen et al. I can honestly say an electric screen is the best gadget on a bike! You can forget your ABS, Traction Control, Cruise Control (didn't have any of that until recently and do now use the Cruise Control when not on the twisties), USB port (use an external battery in the pocket or tank bag), heated grips (heated gloves are way, way better), heated ar$e (did I pi$$ myself? 🤣), electronic suspension (set it and forget it - except once a year when loaded for touring), espresso machine and cup holder. Being able to *easily* raise and lower the screen at a touch of a button, as the conditions demand is luxury in the true sense of the word. That GS doesn't seem to have the optional indicators 😛🤣
Blackpool is looking much better than the last time I was there. I was in Southend-on-Sea recently (don't ask) and the tourist areas were the absolute pits.

Been to look at the new BMW 1300 and spoke to a couple who took one out for a ride. They came back to me and said after jumping off the GSA they both said it was not has comfortable has his GSA. He said it was a brilliant bike but not for them and was going to wait to see what the GSA is going to be like. And I have to agree with him. They gave me such a good deal on new 1250 GSA Rally with luggage and a three year service plan I could not justify spending the extra 4 and half grand. The 1250 with the bigger tank is plenty way fast another for me and the wife to do some long tours on 👍👍

Riders past the age of about 50ish, usually get more fun out of a bike, where they have to do the thinking and mental and physical work themselves, put me in this catagory.. All those knobs, buttons and gizmo things, just make the bike far too expensive, and susceptible to breakdowns, where a laptop is necessasary to repair it, which is for people like you and I..., as you said, "ya average joe" far too expensive when you've also got a car, a morgage etc. Then as well, many don't ride in Winter and pay for a toy to leave standing. No, this sort of Bike is for the younger Techy type or the older wealthier and techy type.

Prices are incredible, £21K+ for GS and probably £25-£26K+ for a new GSA in September, I blame PCP. I would never buy a new model BMW bike in the first year or two of launch, BMW let their customers do their product testing for them. Apart from the eye watering cost it’s the insurance that’s a killer on a new bike these days. A bike is not even safe in a locked garage in Beckenham, needs to chained to the ground and blocked in by the car.
Roads look rather rough in places almost “third world” like, noticeable on return from Austria, Luxembourg and Switzerland.

I don’t need adjustable, switchable, electronic, motorised, multi-mode, everything. And I don’t want to pay for expensive crud that I don’t use.
