    Just remember to go half a size to a full size up if you need U.K. Sizing as they come up small like Lowa for reference Brits.

    Got a pair before Christmas. A fantastic pair of boots. Climbed the mournes and felt fresh afterwards. Spent weekends living in them while instructing on backwoods courses and I didn't want to take them off. 10 out of 10 👍

    I have had my Meindl`s that are similar to yours for about 35 years. Last year I had to replace the original Vibram soles with new ones. I am a retired lineman and used them for climbing until about 20 years ago. Now they just get used for hunting and various work situations. I also have a pair of the Meindl walking shoes which I`ve had a long time but don`t get used as much. Because I take care of stuff, the boots still look pretty darned good considering what they have been through. A few small cracks in the leather and that`s about it, even still have the original laces. Originally mine were hunting boots, not military.

      Nice, I have two other pairs, one pair of chainsaw boots and the other summer walking boots. Meindls will last for years if you look after them properly. These are a high end hiking/walking boot but in black , a great barginn if you are after great boots. Thanks for watching and commenting

    My favorite pair of boots is still my old Finnish Army jackboots. I have even used them to backpack up mountains. It was a long time ago that I abandoned any boot with a liner, no goretex either. Yeah there’s a foam between outer sole and innersole in 99percent of shoes these days. Some disintegrate faster when they aren’t being worn and sit on shelves. High quality brands have foams that can last 5-10 years perhaps longer but problem is when it breaks the shoe is very hard to repair. It will be costly and lot of effort for the cobbler. The solution to that particular problem is to buy shoes with a leather midsole instead of foam but it will cost you.

    Hi friend, I will suggest Lowa boots for general purpose too, they are also the choice of many professional soldiers as well as German army.
    I got a pair of Lowa combat patrol sienc 2010, using them every freaking day and still are look like 2-3 months old boots, those are my favorite boots, I send them to Lowa to resole them 2 years ago , some of Lowa boots comes with option to resoling them after heavy-duty usage, full grain leather, best comfort, long term, not any boot has been losting in sub artic condition like these, in woods, on snow, ice, tarmac, desert, mountain, in water; you just name it, so long they kept thier first day firm shape intact, no boots can challenge these certainly not those we receiving from armies.
    By the way I am not owner nor shareholder of Lowa, only a content and satisfied owner of their good and decent product. Stay safe.

    • @colinallen8924
      @colinallen8924 2 роки тому +1

      I have the Karrimor SF CWW, the Iturri CWW and these.
      The Meindls are designed for general use whereas the Karrimors and the Iturris are designed for cold wet weather use.
      Both of them are heavier and more rigid than the Meindls but not ridiculously so. You also definitely need to go a size up in both of them, unlike the Meindls which fit to size.
      Of the three, I far prefer the Iturris; they are incredibly comfortable, amazingly solid and have carried me across the worst that Dartmoor has to offer during multi-day (up to a week) walks.
      I use the Meindls for day walks in Kent and Essex. They are great boots, but do not give me the same feeling of security that the others do. One thing I do really like about them is the very wide sole.

    • @colinallen8924
      @colinallen8924 2 роки тому +1

      @@RedBranchBushcraft, they are not the same; they are similar but the construction and the shape are different. The long horizontal seam on the Karrimors is a weak point, which was not replicated on the Iturris.

    These boots just don't seem to work for me, I can't walk in them properly the sole just feels odd. When off path, my feet slide forward in the boots on inclines no matter what, despite there not being much room in front of my toe and boot.

      @@RedBranchBushcraft Yeah, it's the material in the midsole breaking down with time and the main reason the military sell them off.....It's not because they've got more boots than soldiers :)
      Army surplus is a bit of a lottery. I got a German pair once for 15 quid and they lasted 7 years..I got another pair that fell apart within minutes of putting them on. The midsoles crumbled on both pairs. I bought a pair of Meindl French army surplus which were listed as "new ,unused without tags" and a label inside revealed they'd been in storage for 10 years. I still have them after 3 years but I've lost count how many times I've had to glue the soles back on.
