I had my bearskin hoodie on when I wreck my Harley it saved my arm from road rash being worse. I had a very small whole in it and Bearskin sent me a new one and even sent my wife the first women’s hoodie. I was very impressed on how strong the hoodie is and it’s very worm. The hood part was done over sized for wearing a helmet.

Good honest review, and I agree with the zipper comment. I've learned from bitter experience regarding cheap build quality, and at this point there's no way I'd pay more than $30 for anything with a plastic zipper. And as a fellow dad with a pizza belly, I appreciated that observation as well 😊

It's a good fleece sweater/hoodie. I got the 3.0 and it's a really good layer underneath a coat . I wouldn't wear it by itself in under 0 degrees centigrade which would be 32° Fahrenheit. That's when you wear it with a coat to be completely honest.

If they put a thin, water resistant shell layer on top of the fleece, then I probably would of purchased one already. Wind WILL penetrate this, im an avid mountain climber and fleece does not provide wind or rain protection.
I really really wish that I didn’t buy this for my son for Christmas… I didn’t read reviews first. I got the “sale price” for over $100… I don’t know why it would be $300- let alone $100 on sale. Just makes me mad. Google reviews are awful. Like the worst. I should have looked into this more. 😩

I'm glad you had 2 of them to compare, the differences are really noticable even though they're the same size. I don't care for the velcro sleeves either & the huge hood is ridiculous! I think U should keep the tan one, even though the sleeves are loose. Perhaps having a long sleeve shirt/sweater underneath might help. And U are so funny with the "pizza belly" My Hubby has a belly too. Now....I Love the decor in ur home and the Kitty! (yeah I see the cute doggy, too) Ur son is super cool. I'm 6 ft 6 and am personally happy that they make their hoodies for people that don't have big bellies. Means I can order one in a big size to get the length and I won't feel like I'm wearing an umbrella.
You are not alone my friend. I too am a 36 inch waist and somewhere between a medium and large when it comes to jackets, parkas, hoodies or vests. There are big inconsistencies with some brands products. Keep on keeping on. And thank you for the review, my wife and son have been talking about the Baerskin hoodie for years now asking if i want one but I am reluctant for some reason.
Your review is excellent! Your kid is too funny 😂 when he agrees with your "pizza belly!" Your descriptions are great! I want to purchase the jacket. I do appreciate you for the video. I just lost my burger belly 😅 but take note: it appears that no matter the size, all come with tapering along the length to the zipper 😢 Seems their expectancy is tailored for a more tiny torso, and that's not a good thing for big guys. I'm at a 32" waist, which on me, it should fit fine as long as they get the correct length from the nape to just above the buttocks. Thank you for taking the time to examine the Baerskin hoodie!!!

I wish companies would use whatever zippers the Army uses. The zippers on my issued gear could stop the space shuttle from launching. Army velcro is garbage, material quality is well below its price point, buttons are okay, but goddamn those zippers are built stronger than a tank. And I'd agree with the cuff velcro as well. I'd rather have button cuffs. I've never found velcro on anything that lasts, and while button cuffs provide only two ish size options, it's more durable
I agree with your closing statement. These seem to be designed for 18-28 year olds who have not yet mastered the art of eating a side of cow and floating a keg but still able to get into work the following day on a construction site because you are mid-40s and have a mortgage to pay for.
I just got myself one. I'm a tall slim woman, I'd normally be an S/M. But I like my clothes a little oversized, so I ordered the tan male one in L. I'm wearing it right now. It's roomy, extremely warm & so comfy I have to force myself to take it off before bed. I do totally agree with your hood comment. It's irritating & definitely needs that button to keep it out of your face/vision. It sinks over my eyes, I hate it. A+ on that one. I also would have liked it to be waterproof. Other than that, I absolutely adore it. I honestly think it's worth every penny. 😊😘

Great review and appreciated. You highlighted and confirmed some issues I had similar concerns with before watching but also some concerns we wouldn't be aware of until receiving the jacket. Thanks. A removable peak would be ideal but if I needed a peak I'd prefer to wear a cap. Wrist adjusters....agree re velcro. Toggles work and last. Chunky zips can also be a problem (laying flat) but I'd rather have a non-metal zip from a reliable manufacturer (YKK) Pocket options look good. Variations in fit ..ideal if you are in a shop....but not for mail order...... If the fit is bad I shouldn't be paying to return the goods (UK) Length and belly measurements would be very helpful on their site. I'm also cautious of how their advertising avoids some points I see as potential issues for a so called tactical hoodie. My own concerns. 1 No Weatherproofing (I will need to proof it myself) 2 Washing....do not use hot or warm water....mmmm 3 tactical....no metal zips thanks! Why advertise at a silly and totally unrealistic price only to knock 67% off???? Decisions......
Velcro is bad for the bushwhack type hiking I do in Arizona canyons because it can get brush stuck in it. The draw chords can be dangerous if they catch on a branch.
Ordered my hoodie over a month ago, still not received it, nor have I had any reply to my emails regarding delivery. I wish I had read up on the many reviews on baerskin, if I had done, I would not have bothered.
Update, after many unanswered emails to Baerskin support, I looked them up on FB. Sending them a message, I received an immediate response, 4 days later my Hoodie was delivered. I am happy with hoodie and may order another one for my wife.

As for the new more fitted jackets,they say on there site that they are more fitted..as for the Velcro on wrists,you can clean out Velcro to make it last..look into it
Re. the velcro on sleeves. They are the difference between buying and not for me with all jackets. I find many are too long in the sleeves with a miserable elastic or net restriction at end of cuff or sleeve... which becomes sloppy quickly and allowing the too long sleeves to hang down on my hand or end of my fingers. the velcro allows controlling the sleeve length.
Try the sjze you wear normally. I bought the large not medium and it fits perfectly. And I wear it every day. I wear it as an everyday hoody not for hunting or anything like that snd so far im happy. Waiting for my wife's to come. I also ordered hers according to the coat size she always wear so dont anticipate an issue size wise
If it was me... I would be trying it with a long sleeve shirt not a short sleeve, because I would be wearing it in the Fall/Spring when that would be the type of shirt that I would be wearing. I think that wearing a long sleeve would fill in the sleeves on this product better. Just my suggestion.
I have a Northface Rain jacket with oversize hoodie and I thought what the heck. But when wearing with a ball cap it fits perfect. You didn't say if you got 2.0 or 3.0 version. Whenever I order clothing online I call the supplier first to determine how their sizes run. It's also always best to order based on what you have that fits and if your existing clothing is tight then order a size larger.

I bought the 2X black 3.0. I'm 6'4'' and have a slight pizza belly - it fits really well, BUT jacket length and sleeves are too short for tall guys. This is a gimmicky NOT tactical hoodie. Try reaching up with both hands... omg. Yeah, hate the sleeve velcro tabs. Lot of bulk everywhere... still on the fence with the head covering.
I was hoping to see the location and details on the inside pockets, they don't show them in the website. Three inside zippered and the three "secret pockets"

My bearskin hoodie is awesome and this guy bought a medium… hahahahaha dude we all see that you are a 2 x my dude, you’re bigger than I am and I ordered a 2 x only thing I’d of wished I did was ordered a tall even though I’m 5’9” I should of gotten a tall. I work construction in Wisconsin during the winter as a vinyl siding windows and doors guy and today I tried it in 38 degree weather with only a t shirt on underneath it. A regular white t shirt on all day over 6 hours in the cold with wind and I was sweating at times. It felt like I was wearing it and it was well worn and fit me perfect, loved the draw strings. I agree with the Elmer fud thing with the hoodie part of it and wished they’d of made a zipper up there to tuck it into but after you cinch it up it’s not even in the way nor do you notice it.
Was very temped to order one until I saw the size difference in the two you tried on. Major red flag! That is not a company that cares about what they are selling. Good review.

I know all the cool kids like closer fitting clothing. When it’s cold enough to wear something like this I am not wearing a tee shirt underneath. Belly aside looking at how snug the arms fit …… be great over a tee shirt and even then would push sleeves up to armpits. 😂

I ordered one 13 days ago and it still hasn't shipped, when i asked why they tokd me they'd check on it and still no answer, the order was for 2 hoodies at $184.00 so i would think they'd try to get it out on time because thats alot of money, finely told them i want my money back
There is no 24 hr customer service. No phone number to call. All you can do is email. They do not respond. My item is defective. I cant get a return.4 emails and no response. Buyer beware. Don't believe me? Try to find a phone number for Baerskin customer service....Dont fall for the video like I did
I sent mine back. Found it to be a completely unbreathable fabric that holds sweat in. Not good for any athletic activity. You just get cold. Just my opinion.
This is not tactical as fashion. The US Army field jackets and pants or its Extreme Cold Weather System (ECWS) have narrow draw cords, small plastic toggles, or small,plastic zippers.
My puppy chewed the draw cords and toggles, the two plastic zippers to the rear pocket, and the main zipper. Baerskin would not release who they receive those components from or do they offer a repair service. The local dry cleaners and seamstress offer to repair the two jackets but the costs is almost equal to what I purchased the jackets. The military places larger draw cords, toggles, and metal zippers for easy repair and durability. Small plastic parts lack the durability and repair. The one time caught in the rain thoroughly soaked threw and that brim on the hood continually blocked my view - totally froze during that time. Really poor customer service and product support.

I’m sure you can. I wear mine bare-headed and the quantity of cold air round my head is a DISASTER! You can narrow down the head-hole with the fiddly draw-strings but you’re still left with all that very unpleasant COLD-AIR space. Why don’t Baerskin offer helmet or bare-headed options? This has become a real deal-breaker for me along with so little (if any) water-resistance in the fleece, the fleece’s lack of wind-proofing and the lack of a sensible exterior VERTICAL phone-pocket. Yes, at least it is comfy - but after a month+ of trying to “love” my 3.0 I’ve come to the conclusion that the Baerskin is just an over-hyped and over-marketed rip-off … and that I was a stupid duh for ever falling for it. I’m MUCH happier with my old and VERY MUCH CHEAPER and entirely-BETTER North Face and Berghaus fleeces.

It's a good add campaign but I don't buy velcro closure items and I don't like poly fleece. That and being made in China keeps it off my radar.

A couple years ago I got 1 of the Amazon copies called ReFire Gear in green for about $40 I wasn’t expecting much but I think it’s really nice.

My bearskin hoodie is awesome and this guy bought a medium… hahahahaha dude we all see that you are a 2 x my dude, you’re bigger than I am and I ordered a 2 x only thing I’d of wished I did was ordered a tall even though I’m 5’9” I should of gotten a tall. I work construction in Wisconsin during the winter as a vinyl siding windows and doors guy and today I tried it in 38 degree weather with only a t shirt on underneath it. A regular white t shirt on all day over 6 hours in the cold with wind and I was sweating at times. It felt like I was wearing it and it was well worn and fit me perfect, loved the draw strings. I agree with the Elmer fud thing with the hoodie part of it and wished they’d of made a zipper up there to tuck it into but after you cinch it up it’s not even in the way nor do you notice it.

Not as warm as the price should provide. In a light rain its a sponge. Over priced.
I think the company should show different sizes on everyday people. In order to choose the best fit online.

I know all the cool kids like closer fitting clothing. When it’s cold enough to wear something like this I am not wearing a tee shirt underneath. Belly aside looking at how snug the arms fit …… be great over a tee shirt and even then would push sleeves up to armpits. 😂

I ordered one 13 days ago and it still hasn't shipped, when i asked why they tokd me they'd check on it and still no answer, the order was for 2 hoodies at $184.00 so i would think they'd try to get it out on time because thats alot of money, finely told them i want my money back
There is no 24 hr customer service. No phone number to call. All you can do is email. They do not respond. My item is defective. I cant get a return.4 emails and no response. Buyer beware. Don't believe me? Try to find a phone number for Baerskin customer service....Dont fall for the video like I did

I sent mine back. Found it to be a completely unbreathable fabric that holds sweat in. Not good for any athletic activity. You just get cold. Just my opinion.

This is not tactical as fashion. The US Army field jackets and pants or its Extreme Cold Weather System (ECWS) have narrow draw cords, small plastic toggles, or small,plastic zippers.
My puppy chewed the draw cords and toggles, the two plastic zippers to the rear pocket, and the main zipper. Baerskin would not release who they receive those components from or do they offer a repair service. The local dry cleaners and seamstress offer to repair the two jackets but the costs is almost equal to what I purchased the jackets. The military places larger draw cords, toggles, and metal zippers for easy repair and durability. Small plastic parts lack the durability and repair. The one time caught in the rain thoroughly soaked threw and that brim on the hood continually blocked my view - totally froze during that time. Really poor customer service and product support.
Thanks for the great review! It was very helpful in helping me decide whether to get one for my husband. As far as the fit, maybe it's the universe's way of telling you to lose a few pounds. Fat around the abdomen is the most dangerous kind. Do it for that sweet little boy and pup in your video. ❤It'll probably add years to your life.❤

I’m sure you can. I wear mine bare-headed and the quantity of cold air round my head is a DISASTER! You can narrow down the head-hole with the fiddly draw-strings but you’re still left with all that very unpleasant COLD-AIR space. Why don’t Baerskin offer helmet or bare-headed options? This has become a real deal-breaker for me along with so little (if any) water-resistance in the fleece, the fleece’s lack of wind-proofing and the lack of a sensible exterior VERTICAL phone-pocket. Yes, at least it is comfy - but after a month+ of trying to “love” my 3.0 I’ve come to the conclusion that the Baerskin is just an over-hyped and over-marketed rip-off … and that I was a stupid duh for ever falling for it. I’m MUCH happier with my old and VERY MUCH CHEAPER and entirely-BETTER North Face and Berghaus fleeces.
