+Michael Hightower - ditto! To this day, whenever the original comes up in conversation (ok, that just sounds so wrong!) I will link my friend/acquaintance to this gem! :)
"No one can comprehend those Jazz Musicians, they only converse with her as she owns the appearance of a Lady of the Night! My point being, her rear is just so... decidedly substantial. I cannot believe that it is so rounded and... beside thought!"
FWIW: I just discovered my boss's uncle is the founder of the New York Gilbert and Sullivan Players (nygasp.org/). My first course of action, naturally...
Hi. You're absolutely correct about the great dancing, and the only reason it's included at the end is to give some respect to what is, by far, the coolest part of the movie. The crazy swinging arms thing that the main policeman does is endlessly fascinating.
Part of me wants to say someone's got too much time on their hands, but most of me is just damn impressed they managed to get the orchestra together and do such a good job of editing! I agree: this IS why the Internet was invented! :D
Whoever came up with the idea for this video is a genius. Whoever sang the song is a genius. Whoever synthesized the orchestra in the background is a genius. And most importantly, whoever styled that guy's pimping mustache is an absolute genius among geniuses. Love this video. Just...just freaking love it. Too awesome.
"Baby Got Back Gilbert & Sullivan Style" is a classic video that will never lose its appeal. It shines as brilliantly with pure comedy gold as 15 years ago when it was new..
This is pretty much what I was thinking. This is truly fantastic. And certainly one of the most bizarre things I've ever seen (And given that I spend most of my day in front of a computer, that's saying a lot!!) Five Stars, Favorite, and sharing the hell outta this!
I've always loved this video. Every time I watched it, I'd laugh and think it was the weirdest thing I've ever seen. Now that 2020 is almost over, I watched it again and it seemed perfectly normal.
This is absolute GENIUS. Pirates of Penzance is one of my favorite musicals/operas/operettas, especially this film version, and the adaptation of this song is completely fitting to the G&S style----so this completely made my day. Hilarious!!
@Robert Follows: That's an astute observation! You're totally right and I feel like it may be more musically akin to, say, Rodgers and Hart. But, the rapid patter is what made the G&S connection--obviously to the Major General. If you're super nerdy you'll hear some Kurt Weil in this.
So cool. Call me a Geek, I actually have this movie. My girl Linda can sing ANYTHING! And Kevin never looked better, especially with the eye makeup. Great job, oh boy.
far freaking out!!! I know you didn't compile this in a half an hour! Loved it!!! My grandson and I just had a discussions about rap and hip hop. I've got to let him see this.
I would gladly pay good money to see this performed on stage.
This remains one of the best things on the Internet.
Pat Washburn Aww. Thanks!
+Michael Hightower - ditto! To this day, whenever the original comes up in conversation (ok, that just sounds so wrong!) I will link my friend/acquaintance to this gem! :)
I completely agree, lol. No matter how sad or pissed I am, this can always make my day a little better :)
It's true in 2024!
"Oh my lord! Rebecca look at her posterior. It is so longful. [scoff] She looks like one of those Jazz Musicians mistresses."
"No one can comprehend those Jazz Musicians, they only converse with her as she owns the appearance of a Lady of the Night! My point being, her rear is just so... decidedly substantial. I cannot believe that it is so rounded and... beside thought!"
+ GEORGE Witton Lmao! Perfect! This G&S interpretation of "Baby got Back" is genius
It says something about me that it only took me a few seconds to start reading that in Kevin Conroy's voice...
Amazing!
I am sure Gilbert and Sullivan would love this version.. I think it would fit into their sense of fun
My life was incomplete until I first saw this.
This is possibly one of the greatest achievements in all of humanity. Thank you.
Still a pinnacle of genius after all these years.
Ten years later, and I'm still contractually obligated to share this with any friend who brings up the original.
Cooperation Is Key good job!
Oh my god...SAME!!! I can't love this song enough...cant believe I've been listening to this for 11 years!
FWIW: I just discovered my boss's uncle is the founder of the New York Gilbert and Sullivan Players (nygasp.org/). My first course of action, naturally...

Still delightful ten years later...

Ahh ... Pirates will never be the same again. A most ingenious videobox.
That's amazing!! I've seen a lot of people try to imitate G&S for parody purposes, but this is probably the funniest I've seen.
You know those golden records they sent out on the Voyager probes for aliens to find? This is what should have been on it.
Still one of the best videos on UA-cam!
This is pretty much what I was thinking. This is truly fantastic. And certainly one of the most bizarre things I've ever seen (And given that I spend most of my day in front of a computer, that's saying a lot!!)
Five Stars, Favorite, and sharing the hell outta this!
Back again and again after year.
Same.
This will never not be awesome! I'm always tempted to work it into an opera scenes program... lol!
One of the funniest things I've ever seen. I'm a G&S fan and Pirates is my favorite.
Just loved this!
I've always loved this video. Every time I watched it, I'd laugh and think it was the weirdest thing I've ever seen.
Now that 2020 is almost over, I watched it again and it seemed perfectly normal.
Absolutely Brilliant!! God I love UA-cam! Hysterically funny. Fabulous editing. Please make more!!!!! I have never seen a G&S song I have loved more!!
It seems this is the 25th anniversary of the original. So I am naturally sharing this video around. THANK YOU!!
This is unspeakably brilliant. Thank you for making my day.

Too much awesomeness stuffed in those 4 minutes... *head explodes*
Love it anytime I get sad I'll listen to this to cheer myself up
Wow. That's the best video i've seen all week. Very well done, good sir!
Even 15 years later, this is a total banger.
I've watched this 5 times in 3 days. It makes me laugh everytime.
This video is so brilliant that I cannot find the words to express just how brilliant it is. GAH.
Sir-Mix-A-Lot received his titular knighthood from Queen Victoria for this jolly ballad, I recall.
Two very different things were brought together as if by a magical touch and it worked beautifully!
@Robert Follows: That's an astute observation! You're totally right and I feel like it may be more musically akin to, say, Rodgers and Hart. But, the rapid patter is what made the G&S connection--obviously to the Major General. If you're super nerdy you'll hear some Kurt Weil in this.
Brilliant. Terrific.
Great job! Thanks
Good heavens, Rebecca! Take a gander at her posterior! It is quite voluminous!
Back again 17 years later 🥹
I visit at least twice a year... it brings me too much joy!!
I first saw this video more than a year ago, but (sadly) haven't commented.
This is the greatest video of all time. Thank you for posting it.
Now to have this sung by Mordin from Mass Effect... That would make my freaking day.
OMG, that is absolutely BRILLIANT!!! I've watched this at least a dozen times, and will watch it at least another dozen times!! GREAT JOB!!!
Fantastic! Excellent concept and execution - a juxtaposition of this nature always gets me laughing. Well done!

Pure, unadulterated genius! I love this video. Howlingly funny and addictive!
The original version of this song was already my historical costuming anthem, because BUSTLES! And this is even better! :D
If I'm havin a bad day, this is my go to vid....😅
BRILLIANT! PERFECT :) Thank-you for creating this fabulous homage to healthy buts and G&S
Oh wowo! Whoever did the music for this cover is pretty much a certifiable genius. You have made my day.

You are a genius, you even managed to get the ladies to turn around and stick it out!
Oh God...I love this.
This is the video that got me into UA-cam, all those years ago. Thank you for that, genuinely.
Aw, thanks!
This is incredible. I really want to preform this now.
Very, very funny. An excellent adaption of a classic rap masterpiece.
Really, you have to watch the video while you listen for the full impact. The "so British I shit the Queen" guy singing this is comedy gold.
So cool. Call me a Geek, I actually have this movie. My girl Linda can sing ANYTHING! And Kevin never looked better, especially with the eye makeup. Great job, oh boy.
Hahaha!!!! That seriously just made my day. How can i be annoyed with anything now that I have that in my head? LOL!!!
I'm a huge G&S fan. This is utterly friggin' brilliant. Sheer genius. This will be in my head all week.

Pure genius!! Whoever made this, I salute you!!! ;-)
Bravo! As a G&S fan, I am speechless!
i think i've played this video 770,000 times. This is indeed why the internet was invented.
This is farking brilliant. This a top 10 favorite.
I love Gilbert and Sullivan, so I dig this.
Even Queen Victoria would be amused by this! If the internet were to shut down tomorrow this video
would be my happiest memory of it.
A true classic!
I am rapturous. Wow! Outstanding work!
Brilliant in every respect. Bravo!!

More-More-More!
far freaking out!!! I know you didn't compile this in a half an hour! Loved it!!!
My grandson and I just had a discussions about rap and hip hop. I've got to let him see this.

This is AMAZING. Thank you so much for making this! Made my day.
The absurdity is brilliant.
I love this, please do consider doing a Gilbert and Sullivan rendition of Billericay Dickie by Ian Dury.
This is absolutely brilliant! I'm an instant fan!
I love people who have way too much time on their hands! BRAVO .. this is well done.
Holy crap. This was absolutely brilliant!!! Well done! This may have replaced Jonathan Coulton as my favorite cover of this song.
I heard about it from EW too...lol, and that totally made my life completely. That was awesome! Last time I was in P.O.P, I payed the flute. XD

You should cut in a clip of him opening the umbrella when he says the word "sprung."
