The S7 active has the active button, Physical keys (that was huge for me), and a little more that 1 hour of screen ontime extra (which translates to hours of standbye time). I have never been able to get the phone past 25% going all day on the phone (I am talking on a weekend day with more time to play around with the phone). The phone is like the S7 with a case, only significantly thinner than an S7 with a case and with longer battery. It was the "only" option for me. Then again I am a Tech person who would rather a phone be functional over beautiful. That being said, I like how the "case" looks on the Active.
Paraphrased: "S7 battery gets about 4 hours of screen on time and S7 active is only a little over 5 hrs that is kind of dissapointing..." well lets do some math, S7 has a 3000 Mah battery and lets say it gets 4 hours of screen on time. Ok, well the S7 active's battery is 4000 Mah which is 1/3 larger than the S7 (3000/3=1000, 1000+3000=4000) So how long is 4 hours plus 1/3 longer? Easy to figure out (4 hours x 1/3 = 4/3 = 1.33 or 1 and 1/3) So if the S7 has 4 hours of screen on time then the S7 Active should have 5.33 or 5 and 1/3 hours of screen on time (4+1.33=5.33). So how is 5 ish hours disappointing if it makes Mathematical sense??
+CX_Jay Bird_XD thanks for the lecture on mathematics. I happen to have a PhD in applied math so it isn't necessary. Your argument is incredibly flawed as battery depletion does not always follow a linear relationship. If your assumed linear model were correct then it would be great to get 5 hours SOT.
+CX_Jay Bird_XD also 5 hours was my maximum for the most part. I'd say the average was much closer to 4.5. I expected about 5.5 hours, with maximum range of 6 hours given my usage. Battery life is managed differently by the software when you get to the bottom 25% so an extra 1000 mAh should garner a bit longer battery life than additional 30 min- 1 hour on average. Anyway it's not a deal breaker, it's still good battery life, just not a reason to go out and buy this over the regular S7, unless you already have other compelling reasons, which was my point.

I am curious how you managed to get less that 5+ hours of screen on time still. My active is a beast, and I am a heavy user. (I use it to pay, watch YT, Game until it gets hot..) The battery is untouchable..
+CX_Jay Bird_XD probably 3 Bluetooth devices plus doing everything else. Which is why I mentioned that I use so many Bluetooth devices, probably not typical for most people to have 3 paired mostly all day. Anyway I think it's still very good battery life.
i went from the s4 to the s6 active and the #1 thing i like about active is how the phone feels in ur hand. these small thin phones are difficult to hold and make me feel like im holding an egg that i dont wanna crush or drop. for men with big hands, fingers...gotta go active. the physical buttons on active are waaaaayyyyy better than the s7 gal/ edge buttons and the battery is way better too. my grade for the active series is 'A++++++'.
+Jeff Springer I added a glass screen protector on top of it, think that will solve the scratch issue, there wasn't any visual change for people wondering
I switched from the original Note lol not much for change. A lot of times I miss the Note...I wish (or maybe you can) the Active would allow to customize your ringtones and notifications. Even with "notification on" when I receive a text message I never receive, via a auditable sound, a notification. I do love the Active's camera.
hi. i want this one ( original s7 active, green unlock, mint condition or new). im in KSA. but this is not available here (online n offline ). how i buy this excellent phone .. plz hlp☹️
+Jill godfrey It's pretty dumb, they just like exclusives because they think some people will switch only due to a certain phone being on that carrier. I would never do that personally but they must have data that it works.
+namelesssd as I said in the video everyone uses their phone differently, that's why I detailed my usage, three Bluetooth devices connected all day, etc.
+Jeff Springer I know. I'm just saying. I didn't disagree with you or whatever but you did make it a big deal to point out the battery life as not much better. I just felt like I wanted to throw my experience in for others to see what real use has been for me for 3 weeks
namelesssd yeah that's definitely positive I have no problem with that! I've seen other reviewers also say they got great battery life and some didn't, it's really hit or miss depending on where you live and how you use the phone. I think the phone is great I just think it has appeal to a niche market more than a mass market of people getting this over the regular S7, which is what Samsung and AT&T expect anyway
+Jeff Springer right now it's 7 13 where I'm at, and I've been off charger since 0530 this morning. I am only at 3 hours sot but I have 59 % left. I'm very happy with this phone. I love it. a little tweeks here and there to improve battery life will go a long way.
Pretty ridiculous that I'm only getting the s7 edge based on how it looks lol, I got the s6 edge only because of how it looks, and never used the edge features, maybe I'll use them when I get the s7 edge!
i have the s6 active and i love it but i think its gonna lose some desire since the s7 models are all water resistant. it is still badass but only battery and durability are the main differences. u cant lose either way. and imo, its either s7 active or s7 edge. reg s7 is losing its appeal its got no personality.

sfgmanCA I actually like those buttons, it'll mean no accidental presses for me. Lol
he failed to mention it's 4000 millamp battery
never mind
+Johsiah Luciano I'm sure you can read specs from GSM arena, real world reviews are not about the specs sheet, that's what the unboxing video is for.
yeah that too lol
Jeff Springer no you mention only reason to get it is if you're clumsy. completely ignoring the improved battery.
Great phone...the biggest problem of a shatter proof screen is also it's biggest con. The screen will scratch and dent easier than glass.
+Jeremy Judkins very true the plastic adds some durability concerns even after addressing the shatter issue.
+Jeff Springer I added a glass screen protector on top of it, think that will solve the scratch issue, there wasn't any visual change for people wondering
J Rods I did the same and it works and looks perfect
I switched from the original Note lol not much for change. A lot of times I miss the Note...I wish (or maybe you can) the Active would allow to customize your ringtones and notifications. Would using an otter box case on the S7 be equivalent to an S7 active?
How can I get the active if i don't have at&t?
hi. i want this one ( original s7 active, green unlock, mint condition or new). im in KSA. but this is not available here (online n offline ). how i buy this excellent phone .. plz hlp☹️
Why is it ONLY exclusive to AT&T?
+Jill godfrey It's pretty dumb, they just like exclusives because they think some people will switch only due to a certain phone being on that carrier. I would never do that personally but they must have data that it works.
So I can only get AT&T?
I cant get like Straight Talk or anything like that?
The sad part is that it failed the water immersion test while the regular s7 and the s7 Edge passed.
hello jeff do you recomend having a s7 edge for medium hands?? is it to big??
+Nirina Razafy I think the S7 Edge is fine for medium hands, it's one of the more comfortable 5.5 inch phones.
the battery life is not great because your are connected to so many bluetooth devices
+Proxy all my phoned are connected to the same Bluetooth devices and I compared battery life within devices so your argument is poor and moot.

How about a case for the S7 active?
mraccountantmbacpa i have on is called the bodyguardz something like that
i got this last night upgraded from the s4 active see if this 1 will last as long lol
how do you like the phone so far?
Habacuc Martinez I love it has a great cam
really the active in an extra $100 but if u buy an otterbox or a life proof case you'll pay probably more
I've had it since it came out i get about 6 to 7 screen on time.
+namelesssd as I said in the video everyone uses their phone differently, that's why I detailed my usage, three Bluetooth devices connected all day, etc.

What what size SD card can you in?
Fun1PRN 200gb
Fun1PRN max 250 gb
i THINK THE PACKAGING SAY 200 EXPANDABLE BUT I USED MY 256 FROM MY NOTE AND DID NIT GET AN ERROR MESSAGE
Is it worth switching to AT&T to get this phone.
+JackPlaysOfficial I would say no, unless you really drop your phone a lot or work outside the regular S7 offers most of the same features.
+Aaron Cross Verizon has more coverage and is faster
+Jeff Springer Thanks!
***** thx
Pretty ridiculous that I'm only getting the s7 edge based on how it looks lol, I got the s6 edge only because of how it looks, and never used the edge features, maybe I'll use them when I get the s7 edge!
+Jake Krause well I think there is something to be said about aesthetics of a phone, but the edge is more functional on the S7 version
+Jeff Springer Sounds good

yay I'm first!!
well hey who's the winner!?
If the phone is well protected then its ok...
that's what it is
I have the s7😃

+Nafeeur Rahman thanks!
