There are so many different ways to accomplish similar things in garment sewing... thanks for showing me a completely different way to do this!
Super cute fabric Tova!!
Cray nails! Love them! Thanks for the great tutorial
I love your work so much because I understand it anytime I watch your lessons
Thanks for the beautiful video. have been reluctant before but now I'll try it. Thanks again
Brilliant I've put raglan sleeves in but still learnt a lot from your video. Thanku.
Thank you. You are an excellent teacher and your tutorials help me, A BEGINNER, feel confident to tackle a pattern after watching your detailed instruction.
I'm so glad you find our tutorials helpful :)
Your nails are amazing 😍
thanks for the clear information
This is so helpful thank you so much!!!!
great vdo.. but give us tutorial on how to cut raglan sleeve... means what measurments are to b considerd while cutting?? as readymade patterns are always not available
Thanks! Sleeves scare me but I will give this type a try.
Thanks for another great video.
Thank you
And I like your nails too
I love your nails 😍
thanks a lot i like raglan sleeve.
Thanks for a very useful video :) You make it clear and speak at a perfect pace. I love that sewing theme fabric! This is a project I need to try for. All I need is that perfect pattern, and some cute fabric. The seams? serger friendly? ya, I'm one of "those" LOL any excuse to play with my serger hahaaa
can you do a video on relining a jacket? i bought a jacket that i want to take in, but i have no clue how and where to undo the lining, or how to redo the lining after i'm done taking in my jacket
Thanks
Does anyone know how to modify a batwing or dolman sleeve to make a regular sleeve?
How would you sew it with a lining?
Perfect
Is there A reason to use raglan rather than set in sleeves? Yes I am VERY new to this. In my case fleece or flannel. I've noticed the fleece clothing I wear more often tend to have have set in sleeves ............. I guess that observation should be enough of an answer but I am wondering if there is something obvious I am missing?
I'm still learning, but great video! One thing that would be helpful is to answer why questions in the video. Again, maybe these things are common knowledge to people who have been sewing a while, but some questions I have are:
•why do you tie your own knot on the dart instead of backstitching?
•why do you double stitch a knit instead of just doing it once? Or zig zag?
Are these things personal preference or holy bible of sewing?
Sorry if this is asking too much, but I hope you find it constructive for videos in the future! Thanks for making and teaching!
Petra Taylor the transition from the dart to the fabric will be more smooth if you tie a knot, instead of backstitching. As for your 2nd question: I'm not sure, I always use a zigzag stitch 😊
Petra Taylor you can zig zag or the double row is just for secure purposes then you can trim down your seam and the tying off the knot is so there's less bulk and it doesn't show through the fabric.
Tying off at the end of the dart will usually prevent a pucker or dimple at the end of the dart on the right side of the fabric.

Thanks everyone, super helpful!
Love your videos. I also love your nails too. Where did you get them or did you have them done.
they're just the sally hansen polish strips. thanks! :)
what are the measurements that we should be taking notes of in order to create the shapes? Also is their a template that we could download
this just is showing you the general assembly. for my demonstration, I was using a commercial pattern I purchased
What is the point of the dart in the top of the sleeve? It is already a stretchy fabric, wouldn't it have enough give and flexibility?
good video but not how I learned to do it. i was taught to attach arm to front and back before you sew the underarm seam or front and back together. then you can sew a single seam from bottom up the underside of arm
That's how I learned to do it too.
I think your method is easier.
Tova, why do we need to double stitch for the knit? Also why would we not do a zigzag stitch on a knit? Thank you for this video.
It's just preference. You can do either for these types of vertical seams. For horizontal seams, like going around the body, I would do the zig zag stitch.
Can you tell us what pattern you used or share a link to a simple raglan pattern?
Ah, found the comment where it's mentioned! (McCall's 6992 if anyone else was searching)
where do you buy the material for the ribbed neckline?
I bought mine at JoAnn's. The ribbed knit is usually mixed in with the other types of knit.
Is this a purchased pattern? Thank you!! Great tutorial!
In this demonstration, I used McCall's 6992

Where did you get the fabric? It's so cute
my in-laws picked it up for me during their travels in Europe :)
Your sweater is so cute! Did you make it yourself ?
yes, I did. Thank you so much :)
Do you recommend any patterns for this project?
for this demonstration, I was using this pattern as my example mccallpattern.mccall.com/m6992
I'm interested in the sleeve that wouldn't have the dart on the shoulder line, so there would be no seam. That is mostly seen for thermal underwear, to eliminate the uncomfortable pressure on shoulders. How to make that kind of raglan sleeve? Anyways, this is a great tutorial too.
Thank You for the reply. Yes, I understand that, but I want to avoid using it at all. It kinda defies the idea of not having a seam right on the shoulder line. Maybe simply using a stretchy fabric it will form to the shoulder.
@@tekknorat did you find a way? I'm looking for the same thing😅
@@1234lianne unfortunately, no, not yet, but my guess is simply using stretchy fabric is the way to go.
Why in the world would you double stitch? Just use a stretch stitch or a very slight zigzag.
Name of the fabric please 👏👏👏👏
I used a sweatshirt fleece

I’m glad I don’t buy these type of shirt or sweater very uncomfortable to wear
Your nails are sooooo distractive.
Use a neutral color next time.
Please take off that hideous nail polish! It is a great distraction to viewers.
Mary Magdalene why should she she if you don't like it don't watch her video so simple and stop being a bully. I love the houndstooth nail polish 💕
It's not a distraction at all. Also, houndstooth is a beautiful pattern.
Brilliant I've put raglan sleeves in but still learnt a lot from your video. Thanku.
