  • The Black Rebels (1960) AKA This Rebel Breed. Rita Moreno stars in this very entertaining crime movie as Teenage punks slice and dice each other, turn innocent young women into sleazy tramps, and threaten innocent locals, get involved in interracial romance, and sell stuff to local citizens. Whew! That's a lotta very bad behavior for one film!

    Also known as "This Restless Breed". Very hard early look at not only the juvenile delinquency problem, that's always been big, in the depressed neighborhoods, of Los Angeles, but racial tension. I remember it well, growing up in a barrio neighborhood.

    honestly, this seems like such a better time to be young& alive.. no smartphones, no phones, no internet, no social media, way more freedom, more style(!), way more beautiful cars, more nature, everything seems simpler and more fun. (i might be wrong but man.. it does seem like things were easier back then)

      @cooltrades7469 Рік тому

      You don't have to be hooked 24/7 to your phone / internet / social media . Also there are people who use internet differently than the average . It brought huge changes in a lot of activities making things easier . So it's not everything about the moronic social media and etc. And nothing is ever simple at the time it happens. Regarded in retrospect with different possibilities and etc ..yes it might seem.

      @@cooltrades7469 you do have to have a smartphone or laptop/computer though. you need it to apply for jobs, most of the jobs i've applied for require you to have a linkedin profile as well, you need it for banking (which, my debit card account is only accesible online), you need it because in most jobs or study groups you are basically out of sight if you're not using whatsapp and therefore are not receiving valuable information, in some countries it's cheaper to buy the vignette and other necessary things online, not in a shop, where they'll charge you more (fees). it's not like you can live a normal life like these kids without a smartphone, you are always the one "without a smartphone" and especially as a teen will miss a lot of social stuff/bonding (you can't send memes/tiktoks/gossip about stuff that's only online) if you don't have a phone. So I disagree with how you painted things. It's obligatory nowadays to have a smartphone to be part of our society, whereas back then, it wasn't. I don't know how old you are but I have experienced life with and without phones and trust me, without phones, everything was easier because everyone was way more reliable because there was no last minute text "I won't make it", you just had to make it. you lived way more in the moment back then and connected way more deeply with others than now, where everyone is living in a parallel social media universe. And even if YOU don't use a smartphone, nearly everyone around you will, which sets a whole different atmosphere in general. When I was young, imaging, people just talked to each other in a nice way on the bus..

    Originally released in 1960 it was re-released in 1965 with the inserts of semi nudity going on with characters you don't see in the gangs. This is the 1965 version and at one point you can see a '63 Chevy Impala parked in a driveway. Most of the movie is from 1960 and was very controversial for it's time.

    Those films were hard on horseshit in that period - we went soft somewhere and no look at the idiot population of "gansta's" - not enough jails to hold them all. This contains the Woke argument in its full idiocy - true racism.

    06:06 - _"Classrooms were used for extracurricular activities by students majoring in anatomy."_
    06:43 _"...to crash house parties where sexual excesses were caused by the indulgence in marijuana."_
    Sounds like typical student behavior back in my high school days
    Throw in hot rods, drive in movies, Van Nuys Boulevard, Mullholland Drive and you've got the picture.
