Brilliant video Ned, always look forward to see you guys dig. I'm a digger here in the UK wish we had those lovely sodas to dig, I guess our Ginger Beers/Codd bottles make u for them. Look forward to your next video for some more bot orgs lol take care all of you 😀
A new sub from the Yukon, Nicola suggested I check you out. Great day 🥵 of digging btw. Your vlog creativity, great energy, knowledge & passion for what you do is keeping me here. Cheers to happy digging! ✌Pat
Always love your videos and humor, (almost as funny as my videos! Ha!) I'm a dirt slinger but known for being a mud slopper if there is black glass age stuff involved! It's about 10X's more work however! That mud ain't light! That pucey Greeley's was a heart breaker! Next time....
I fantasize about being back in time and making my own dumps full of all the most killer examples of everything and then sending myself a post dated letter w a map via western Union !!
Ned how to you find all of these Urban privies on construction sites? Do you have friends that work for Grading/Sitework companies that alert you or do you just stop by sites that you've researched when grading is going on and talk to the foreman and get permission. I've noticed a good many of your videos are on construction sites. Great videos!
Great question ! All of the above ! Worked on construction for years and often have friends who work at various sites. They tell me details, like when the archeologists are done with their work on a site and they’re about to plow the whole thing and I’ll go in there at that point and rescue / document what I can. Also have a friend who brokers insurance for big contractors, (and for us) which helps because you can’t access most sites without some kind of insurance policy covering you in case you get hurt, break something etc
That last comment I madewas meant for Tmac, put it in the wrong place!Hay Ned I think your views have gone up since Paige has been on your channel, you go girl!
I believe they used a mercury solution in those urethral syringes / douche's to treat STD's. The glass type's with the colored plunger's are pretty cool too, can't imagine shoving one of those up in there and blasting away!! 😳
Cobble stones may have been off loaded ballast from incoming vessels..Charlestom SC has some old side streets with ballast stone..and there were ballast merchants in Cuba who had permits to scavenge ballast drop areas then resell the stones to vessels in need of them..one knowledgeable in geology can tell where these stones originated from
I think the shoe soles are interesting. Those scratches, maybe made when scooting down an embankment full of rubbish? A moment in time from 170 years ago, so fascinating. 👍🇬🇧
Absolutely. Ideally screen everything. A lot gets missed in that slop. Unfortunately there was no time and in our society, the almighty dollar almost always trumps history
I feel your pain for that barrel bitters brother! That's a nasty drop to the bottom from such a height of euphoria once you felt the broken top... Gotta roll with the punches I guess
I don’t make my probes but I buy em from the best probemaker I’m aware of. His probes are of superior quality and design because he has also been digging his whole life & has perfected his craft. It’s Lou Lambert and his website where you can order is oldwestbottles.com
Man, please be careful when you are digging that deep, especially when the walls are so soft and unstable. I lost a good friend of mine due to a ditch caving in on him, he left behind a wife and two young boys. Other than that, those bottles are so cool, we don't have them that old in Oklahoma.
Fortunately in this hole, the wooden liner and corner posts were 100% intact, preventing any danger of cave-in. But this is definitely something to watch out for in some holes !!
A person that walks fast gets the same wear as the one shoe wore down on the inside of the heel. Cool stuff no doubt! You need to put some of that liquid from the bottle under a microscope. Must be unreal! Too bad about the bitters. Still could display nicely.
Very cool shoe intel Trip-P but I swear I saw an O with the X's! I think she made little hugs and kisses for the poor guy who wore them! , so Ned is there a way to donate when I have a bill I can put off longer and want to show my love? My friend that does Arizona Rockhound Expiditions said she puts in 40 hrs of editing for a 40 min. episode, so I truly am in debt to you!
Ned and Paige, were you guys always interested in history, even as kids ? Since you guys are basically amateur archaeologist, have you thought of going to school, and becoming an archaeologist ? Have you traveled to other states for digs ? And by any chance, are you guys planning a trip to England, to go mudlarking with Nicola ?
...and a pot to piss in. Piss poor....Back in the day, the underprivileged family would all save their pee and they could sell it for a little $ to the tanneries. If the fam was really broke, they didn't have a formal chamber pot...hence the former. 🍚💦💫 Nice finds!
Its funny how archeologists will get upset at bottle diggers for "looting". When in reality all of this stuff wouldve been destroyed had it not been for you guys.
It is bizarre. If archeologists aren't on a site working, and the site is gonna get destroyed, I'm gonna go dig it ! I also consider that filming it for documentation purposes is an ethical way of "doing my part"
Seems kinda strange you are doing this at night? Also I’m gonna guess someone parked the bulldozer purposefully on top of the privy to keep people from digging.
Fluke. No archeologists present on site by that phase of the project. That area was excavated out the next day, which would’ve broken most of the stuff in that privy. But yes - sometimes they park equipment over certain places they don’t want disturbed…
Great dig, but at times borderline unwatchable as you seem to switch between a knowledgeable collector to someone with the emotional maturity of a 12 year old. A little humor is never a bad thing but this is embarrassing and painful to watch. Please act more like your age.
😎 It is a good day when a new bottle Ned and friend video appears on my feed.
Appreciate the support ! It makes the video work worth it
hi from the UK found you from nicola white mudlarking. cheers buddy
Paige is a beauty… good find Ned
It's probably brissl from some kind of brush used to take whatever that glue substance type stuff is in that barrel
Amazing what is in these places and the bottles are whole!!! Yay 😊😊😊
Great stuff Ned!! Historic Views...
I have never heard rust stains described so eloquently.

Great stuff as always Ned , digging those mud filled pits out is tough going - you deserve every bottle you get.
Awesome video guys! enjoyed, my digger friend always talks about going back in time and marking all the dump locations😂
I fantasize about being back in time and making my own dumps full of all the most killer examples of everything and then sending myself a post dated letter w a map via western Union !!

Love your content “bottlegasm” nice. Just curious what’s your best find$$??
My favorite find was an 1800s scrimshaw dildo !! In a pile of excavated dirt at a dump site !!
@@BottleNed no shit!! Lol was it whale bone? Hopefully it wasn’t wood for splinters in the coochie

Awesome finds. Too bad it was cut short but at least you saved some history.
I think the shoe soles are interesting. Those scratches, maybe made when scooting down an embankment full of rubbish? A moment in time from 170 years ago, so fascinating. 👍🇬🇧
I dream of any dig close to this, great job you all, maybe luck will come someday😮
I'm guessing you guys have a bottle brush?! Those bottles cleaned up nice! Tips and tricks? Or just like soaking and washing dirty old dishes?
Stay close to the phone Ned Hollywood should be calling any day now for a movie deal.
😂 I’m sure I’ll be up for an Oscar in no time with my acting skills 😂😂
Would it be worthwhile to screen & shift it? For coins, jewelry and small treasures? Metal detect? Thanks!
Absolutely. Ideally screen everything. A lot gets missed in that slop. Unfortunately there was no time and in our society, the almighty dollar almost always trumps history
Ned, I live in Louisville KY so not a lot of Western opportunities here. Can’t I have just ONE of your Empires?? Love love love your vids!
Great dig!! Those soda botts are amazing! What technical difficulties did you encounter?? 😂
I feel your pain for that barrel bitters brother! That's a nasty drop to the bottom from such a height of euphoria once you felt the broken top... Gotta roll with the punches I guess
It was a rough moment but I would’ve been more surprised to find that thing cherry mint
Amazing dig as always Ned! Could you please give me some tips on making a probe? I recently started the hobby and need some help.
I don’t make my probes but I buy em from the best probemaker I’m aware of. His probes are of superior quality and design because he has also been digging his whole life & has perfected his craft. It’s Lou Lambert and his website where you can order is oldwestbottles.com
@@BottleNed thanks man
Do you make your living by selling what you find? Just curious. I really enjoy your show!
Definitely not but I also don’t have space for everything I find haha
36:51 similar to the old hesperidin

I probably would of left the STD tool there for the excavator, but that’s just me. 😂
😂😂

Unfotunately there's just a little too much damage for a professional resin repair.Handsome bottle for sure.
Totally. It would take a very skilled person to do that very complicated repair ! If that person even exists…!
Can you pick up some old bottles for me.
I would appreciate it very much.

Nice bottle finds, silly question. If this is a privy why are they throwing bottles in it. They just used it as a trash bin too. Wow
Privies also served as trash receptacles before the era of organized garbage collection
You ever dig up a human body in one of them privies
Not me personally but I would think the privy could be a great place in the 1800s to dispose of a murder victim !!!
Used to dig in the landfill under my middle school playground at recess. Man, combing the mud with Nicola - I couldn't imagine a better vacation !!!!

Triple P in there full on its dirty its muddy it’s hot and she ain’t complaining …. Few women like that left in the 🇺🇸
Have.
He could act more his age,but then he wouldn’t be a great bottle digger!
You need to act stupid to relieve the stress and pain on your body during digs like this
Lol it’s been a while man
I love the short Red Head!!
