    Sweet Video Ned, Paige and Chuck. It was nice to see the trio digging together. Y'all did dig up a lot of bottles, but unfortunately they weren't the more exquisite one. I loved the pepper sauce and cathedral pickle bottles. I actually collect both types and I love them.

    Crusty's no look catch was SICK! I wish I was so smooth.
    One question, what's your favorite method of getting a probe down past the dry hardpack in these summer months? Besides the sweet power tools. Or say along the edge of an old railway? Where all those stinkin rocks are blocking the path to sweet bott.

    • @BottleNed
      @BottleNed  10 місяців тому +1

      Great question. It used to be a “pounder probe” (like the kind utility workers use), but these days I much prefer a cordless drill, as it takes away all that impact on the ole joints.
      One word of caution is: unless you’re searching under a thick cap or dirt, roadbase, asphalt, etc, it’s best to probe when the soil is more moist, as it’s harder to feel privies in desiccated soil. Especially older privies. (Privies under hard caps don’t dry out in the same way)

    • @BottleNed
      @BottleNed  10 місяців тому +1

      I have mixed feelings about talking about value. In one sense, it’s a specific way for viewers to understand how bottle collectors categorize different types of bottles.
      But that being said, talking about value takes the emphasis away from the value of historical knowledge gained by these artifacts and in my opinion, can garner the wrong kind of attn and all of a sudden you have a bunch of ppl digging for dollars.
      You already have other UA-camrs talking about botts worth “thousands” and property owners have actually denied me permission to dig recently citing those videos they saw because they thought there were bottles like that buried on their property, even though the chances of that are almost nil and most botts you find aren’t worth more than $10-20.
      I personally wish all bottles were worth almost nothing so I could collect them all.
      Just some thoughts, I could be missing some key points here and welcome other opinions.
