Whenever I'm using a powered jigsaw, I use a good head torch to see the work. I have one that I can switch between spotlight and a wash of light. That lets me adjust the light to best advantage. Well, I use it whenever I'm doing any detailed work, even if not jigsaws are involved.
If I were making the same kayak over and over again, I would make myself a nice set of patterns that could be reused a lot. But while I will make a kayak more than once, I don't build each one often enough to bother with better patterns.
Nick Schade You could project lines every 10 inches to match the forms. But you probably would have to level the projector beforehand and then make sure the strong back is also. Big hassle maybe, but could be useful someday.

Excellent as usual!!! I love your aluminum strongback and spacers with the wedge system. You do have some nice tools.
im so excited and cant wait to get started.
I'd be as nervous as a long-tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs cutting that opening. Another great video.
Какие милые маленькие рубанки. :-)
They are very nice and fun to use.
Подобные используют гитарные и скрипичные мастера. Называются "finger plane"
You have such wonderful tools! Why not make a template once and not process it with a milling cutter?

Hi Nick. It may be a bit overkill but, what about using a projector over the boat to cast the lines for the cockpit?
Interesting idea, but I don't know how you could calibrate that so it would be accurate.
