AJ is HOPE In a world often clad in grey, A voice like dawn's first golden ray, Angelina Jordan, with each note she sways, Brings to life the silent fray. Her music, a balm to the weary soul, Lifts the fallen, makes them whole, A testimony to her art's pure goal, Touching hearts, her ultimate role. From Norway's shores to lands afar, Her songs, like a wish upon a star, Inspire dreams, heal every scar, A young muse, raising the bar. In every melody, a story told, Of struggles, triumphs, brave and bold, A timeless gift, more precious than gold, Angelina's voice, a sight to behold. To her fans, she's more than a song, A beacon of hope, where they belong, In her music, they find a bond, Angelina Jordan, a love lifelong.
I felt like finally someone had found the right way to sing this song to make the lyrics and story heard and that took a 16 year old girl to do that ❤️ Incredible and amazing performance and it sounded so, so beautiful ❤️
Morethanjustavocalcoach, as you can see Angelina Jordan is Morethanjustasinger ;) She is an artist through and through. Not only does she have that unique golden voice, but she also has such a great sense of the music she covers. She never just covers a song, she re-invents it while at the same time honoring the original. Here we can see many little easter eggs that pay tribute to Elvis. I see some of them listed in other comments so I won't list them again, but I think it really shows how much respect she has for music and those that came before her. You will see it in everything she does.
Angelina Jordan is 16 yo and dropping wonderful covers this year, 2022. We all anticipate an album next year, 2023. Yes, a beehive! Not everyone recognizes the style. She really opened up the song and its meaning. Yes, Haley Reinhart. I get it. So much pleading in the voice. Thank you for your insightful reaction. 💜
Great reaction analysis! Wouldn't it be great to also solve the mystery of Angelina making so many people love her. She's so good. Better than anyone. But the mystery of what makes her so adorable is both fascinating & baffling.
She is a musical phenomenon, from the moment she starts to sing till the last note fades Angelina captured your heart. There are very few people that I will listen to as much as I do with Angelina, her songs from original to covers always seem fresh, each time you listen to them you hear something that you missed the first 30 times you listened. I'd like to recommend a group to you, they are two sisters and a first cousin and their group is called Chapel Hart. I happened to catch their America's Got Talent performance where they got a 'group' golden buzzer where all the judges and MC Terry combined to give them the buzzer. They performed an original song "You Can Have Him Jolene" a continuation of Dolly Parton's 'Jolene'. Dolly told the ladies that she loved what they'd done with her song. And if that wasn't enough Loretta Lynne told them she loved their song and challenged them to do the same with one of hers. Here is the link to the performance (7.6 million views last I checked) ua-cam.com/video/WLKmDbDv6j0/v-deo.html
Angelina’s tribute covers are the best I’ve ever heard in my life. Aretha Franklin, Elvis, Jay Hawkins, Whitney, Avicii, even Gloria Gainer. Thank you !
I Have Nothing: This performance is beyond belief, the cinemaphotography, the ART, and this time we get to savor over 4 minutes of total bliss, no one is capable of doing this song justice like Angelina Jordan. David Foster and Linda Thompson, who co-wrote this ballad for Whitney Houston would be blown away by this performance.
Missy , Angelina's leather outfit , red guitar ( A Fender Telecaster ) and Rob Christie 's suit are a nod to Elvis's 1968 comeback tour. Herr Beehive hairdo is in honor of Elvis's wife Priscilla .
@@kristena9285 The guitar is what Elvis used in his 1968 comeback tour and Elvis used a Fender Telecaster , The Hagstrom is a knockoff of the Fender original ! I googled it also a few weeks ago !
@@stevebeck7704 You tell that to the customer who paid 625.000 dollars for it at an auction: (cut and paste from "Guitar World" with very recognisable pictures of the instrument): "Elvis Presley’s 1942 Martin D-18 acoustic guitar may have recently sold for $1.32 million, but fear not - another of the King’s axes, this one his cherry-red Hagstrom Viking II electric guitar, famous for its use in the legendary '68 Comeback Special, is hitting the block. The semi hollow instrument is a highlight of Kruse GWS Auctions’ Artifacts of Hollywood & Music auction, which begins on March 27. It's being offered with a starting bid of $250,000." And Steve: The name "Hagstrom" is clearly readable (in gold letters) on the guitar that Angelina uses AND on pictures of Presley..
@@jeffreyjameson5510 Really? I would be very nervous handling that... no rings etc.. Steve Beck is right in that you can get "knock off" Hagströms because they are now made in China.... But they were never knock offs of Fenders, they don't look alike at all.. By the way Elvis only borrowed that guitar anyway, for the colour TV production (producers liked the striking red colour).
Great reaction 🙂 Always nice to see reactors with knowledge analyse Angelina. Truth be told, THEY are the ones getting blown away the most, for obvious reasons 🙂 It takes knowledge to be able to recognize and analyse all the tiny nuances in her performances, DELIBERATE nuances at that. And deliberate choices all the way. To master this at such a young age, she is still just 16 years old, is nothing short of amazing, and the word prodigy HAS to come to mind. As most of us know, Angelina has been making these choices since she was 9. In my opinion, all of that started with her arrangement of "I Put A Spell On You" at age 9 years 2 months. But she was skilled enough already at 7 and 8 to win Norway's Got Talent, (she got 46% of the votes, and the 9 other finalists shared the other 54%) Please DO check out her studio recording of "I Have Nothing". And while you're at it, maybe make a double ? You see, shortly after the release, she performed it live on an outdoor stage on a Norwegian TV programme called "Allsang På Grensen" (sing along at the border). That was her 1st time live on a stage since she participated in America's Got Talent The Champions when she was 13. It was also her first visit to her home country (Norway) in almost 3 years, due to the pandemic. Also keep in mind that the performance you see there is her 2nd performance, back to back, due to some technical issues during her first performance. So, since you mentioned her breath control probably being quite good, that would be the PERFECT example to show it. Disclaimer : She sounded just as good live as in the studio recording. She's even wearing the same dress, WITH colors 🙂Tempted yet ? Here are the two links : Studio recording : ua-cam.com/video/iX0g99jN26U/v-deo.html Live, outdoors : ua-cam.com/video/AqtIVYFjapQ/v-deo.html Finally I just have to tell you that I was lucky enough to get tickets to her concert here in Norway on July 10th, and though I have been following Angelina closely since she was 7, I was completely blown off the track. Tiny Little Girl Our tiny little girl with the grownup voice will be 17 on Jan. 10, 23 and is now 6'1" tall and could be a super model, but I hope the major portion of her career will be dedicated to her music and taking the world to a better place. I don't think she even realizes this power she holds over us and the need to hear that signature voice to fill that empty void within all of us. Angelina Jordan is in fact the "Benchmark" for all other vocalist to try as they might to achieve.
Yeah! She’s something special, isn’t she? Pure Velvet Perfection! This vocal arrangement was all Angelina, I have no doubt in collaboration with a stellar team including Rob Christie & Mery Zamani her Grandmother. She is a Master Storyteller. The video is shot in the same Antique Store that she did 'My Funny Valentine' on Valentine’s Day. I believe it is in LA near her home. I believe the girls in the video represent Angelina's Journey from infancy to present through the classics of music history. Thus the Antique store, She grew up studying and performing these classics. Did you notice that right foot raise it''s heal to cradle the guitar a couple of times in the performance. I was waiting for her to throw in a little shake to it in homage to the King. Could that have been intentional? That is Rob Christie on piano. Sister Juliette and a couple of Uncle Michael's Babies. I think that makes them cousins not nieces. Full Black Leather Bodysuit, the guitar from his concert in 68 and the hair a homage to Priscilla Presley. Yeah! She can bring tears to your eyes. Epic. Incredible. ♥👣👸🏻🎷
NOT a guitar expert here , but have read in other reactions to this video, the guitar is actually a Hagstrom Viking II hollow body electric ,(1967? '68?). Every thing else mentioned in the comment was spot on.
mike Some say the guitar is the one used by Elvis in 68. I personally don't believe it. It sold at auction last year for $625k. There are replicas available for around $1400.
@@103mrg The guitar she's playing is said to actually be owned by Rob Christie the piano player and him being a executive at Republic records he could probably afford that $625k just saying...
@@charlesallison6385 Yes, on his IG account Rob said he owned the Hag(strom). But it's never been established whether it was the original or a replica.
I find it endearing that you seem to have some issues doing reactions like this. You sometimes have to struggle to maintain your vocal coach persona when your inner fangirl just wants to squeal and bounce up and down with delight. Such fun to watch. 😊😊
Enjoyed your reaction to Angelina I think it is a great comparison with Haley both have a vocal toy box full of unique sounds, and both make beautiful music
I very much appreciated your approach on this performance. First, you let the whole performance play through and judged it on its overall musical effect. Yes in the end, what matters is how a performance comes off in its totality. Then your highlighted Angelina's interpretation as the main component of her success. Running a close second is that marvelous Angelina tone. As you pointed out at the very opening (which may have been the highlight of the performance), Angelina just hit us with that powerful, round sound she generated. You went on to point out various peaks the performance that excited you and described what Angelina did that caught your attention. Lastly, you analyzed some of the techniques she used in terms of vocal mechanics. You gave us an exemplary, top down analysis: the overall interpretation, the performance high points, the techniques Angelina used to produce those high points, and at the lowest level, the vocal mechanics. Sometimes vocal coaches immediately dive into the vocal mechanics. That's understandable because it is the bread and butter of their business. But, conveying that vocal techniques are tools to be used within multiple levels of context gets to the heart of performance. And, that's what it's all about. Nice job.
Very nice Missy and yes, you definitely want check out her Whitney cover in this same antique furniture store....simply "breath" taking to say the least. cheers, and thank you.
I have watched this many times and it just keeps getting better. I really enjoyed watching you experience it. Throughout the performance I hear echoes of Elvis's signature nasal resonance in her vocal choices. It is brilliant and am sure that it is no accident.
Yes, you need a Hagstrom Semi- hollow body Viking ll reproduction like the one in the video! Yes she did Whitney live at her concerts AND a studio version in this last month, a definite one to do! Great reaction on an incredible cover of Elvis great song!
Awesome reaction and breakdown! She is The Queen of paying homage to the Artist she is covering. The Antique Shop is the perfect spot to bring Elvis Vibe with an elegant couch, gold mirror and the chandeliers was his taste. The Black Leather Suite/Boots and the guitar are a tribute to the 1968 Comeback Special. The Beehive, honor of Prescilla. If you notice when she is sitting on a book reading couch, she was dawning Blue Suede Shoes. After that part she readjusted herself, hiking up her heel as getting ready to tear the guitar up. A tribute to Rock and Roll, and the 2 nieces and her little sister represented her musical journey with us up to this song. Every little detail had a meaning, dust coming off the cover as she took it off the piano, Rob Christie with the Red Jump Suit, come on, genius. My hat goes off to her Grandm'other who Produced this video. You want a treat, check out Whitney's cover she does of "I Have Nothing", in which pays homage to Whitney. God Bless!
The outfit and the guitar are a direct homage to Elvis and his comeback tour. The hare I believe was a nod to Pricilla. So respectful of and mindful of those whose shoulders she stands on. I love her style and grace and Am in Awe of her raw talent.
Angelina Jordan has an epic voice and I love her emotional content. Veronica Swift is another great young diva to seriously consider and react to. is Veronica Swift.
Angelina is one of the most addictive singers I have ever listened to, & one of the very few, that can pull you right into the song, making you feel, every word, every note, & every emotion. ❤💙 I always have this feeling that Angelina is not only channeling some of these late great singers, but that they also pass through her, when she is singing their song,& is why she can capture the true spirit of the original singer ❤💙 A rare beauty, in every sense of the word ❤💙 Loved your reaction, & would highly recommend her cover of the Whitney Houston classic, I have nothing, her 2022 version, you won't be disappointed 😊
Thanks for another great reaction to & appreciation of another masterful reinterpretation & performance by Angelina - this time of the classic Elvis hit song. Definitely a family production - the Executive Producer Mery Zamani is Angelina's grandmother, the 2 young girls are her cousins & the older girl is hie sister Juliette. You noticed the tasteful tribute to Elvis - Priscilla beehive hair, black leather jumpsuit suit & the red Hagstrom hollowbody guitar (I believe it's the same one used in the Elvis "comeback" tour). Highly recommend Angelina's most recent studio cover - I Have Nothing - performed at this same location. Thank you. And may GOD continue to watch over & bless Angelina Jordan.
Regarding her covering Whitney, she recently released a studio recording, but also included it in the playlist for her recent concerts in Norway. I find the one on 10 July at Kurbadhagen when she closed her final performance dedicating it to her grandma to be especially powerful. FYI, the first recording I have heard of Angelina singing was Whitney's I Will Always Love You when Angelina was about 18 months old. Looking forward to your reaction.
Yep covered Whitney TWICE!!! recently and at age 12 or 13 who cares about her age, she’s a consummate artist dedicated to her art and her craft, great reaction
Great reaction, as always. This music video is Flawless in every way: Setting, Design, Production, Direction, Arrangement, Piano, and of course, Angelina's Incredible vocal. Looking forward to your reaction to her Terrific performance of "I Have Nothing". ua-cam.com/video/iX0g99jN26U/v-deo.html I have included the link to the studio version, which I put right up there with Whitney's version. She brings it down about 3 minor steps and just Kills It! It is STUNNING!! Looking forward to your take on it. 😊😊
You must watch the movie "Elvis" to fully appreciate just how brilliant is this performance by Angelina. I lived the Elvis saga. I watched his first appearance on national TV on the Ed Sullivan show. I joined the Army shortly after he finished his tour and met a couple of guys who served with him at a biergarten in Frankfurt. His career was star crossed. He soared the heights and plumbed the depths. He had the purest, most beautiful voice which truly came into its own when he sang his beloved gospel songs. In this performance Angelina takes his last number one hit and enshrines The King with a poignancy that is breathtaking. The two greatest voices come together in sublime glory.
The beehive honors Priscilla. The guitar exactly the same model that Elvis used for his 1968 Comeback Special on NBC, and the leather pretty much matches, too. And, those might just be blue suede shoes she walks in with.
@@103mrg I wasn't saying she had Elvis's blue sued shoes; I was observing that since her boots have a slightly bluish tint, that maybe that was a close as she could come to some "blue suede shoes".
Missy you have now caught Angelina at 3 stages of her musical life and it just keeps getting better and better. Check out her rendition of I'd Rather Go Blind when she was 13 and just sitting on a coach singing a song. I also noticed that you have never reacted to Morissette Amon. Along with Angelina I feel she is another generational voice. I would love to know what a professional like yourself thinks. She is another really fun rabbit hole to go down. Try Never Enough on the WISH bus 107.5. Then listen to Akin Ka Na Lang done in her native Tagalog which is also done on the WISH bus. Stunning. For a real tour de force check out KZ Tandingan with Rolling In The Deep as you have never heard it before. Either On the WISH bus or at The Singer 2018 competition. I look forward to your next reaction and as always BE WELL
"Little Bubba" is a grown up, full fledged "Artist Extrordinaire" I agree w/your comment regarding phrasing; I particularly LOVE that she whispers "... I'd never lie ." Small detail, but it underscores a sincere promise..so meaningful....You noticed the latest drop; her cover of "I Have Nothing".. (official Studio Version)!!!! It's definitely the complete package, beautifully shot; her gown, everything is perfectly set up for her. Her voice can officially meet the requirements of her mind's demand for a beautiful, "better than the original" performance that captures your heart.. You once stated "She's so bad ass".. well...you have NO idea how accurate that statement is after you watch "I Have Nothing" .....she provides a masterful rendition because of the EMOTION she expertly adds. The very last "velvet strand" of extending the final note extra long is just lovely.. You'll be completely enchanted with her exquisite vocal artistry... she may be covering an "ICON"..but I think she's the next ICON who's going to require something better than "ICON"!! If we're fortunate to hear you react to it, maybe you can offer something!! You'll be AMAZED..yes, LITTLE BUBBA stands at the door of "Superstar".. love your reactions!!! PEACE and BLESSINGS 🤗🎹🎶🎵🎤🙏🏻
In less than 1 mo, Over 1 million UA-cam views since June 22, 2022❗️ Angelina starts off with the bridge, completely different than anyone else; and then, begins with the opening line of the song. Her Beehive hairdo is an homage to Priscilla…Many photographs of her hair, exactly like that. And a Leather outfit he later wore. The guitar is the Elvis‘s 1968 “Comeback” Guitar! Rob Christe actually owns this. The two young children are her cousins, her Uncle Michael’s children, the older girl is her sister Juliette. She even had a framed photo of Elvis, at this location. Rob Christie on piano ok.🌸
Rob Christie Playing Piano: That dude playing the piano is Rob Christie Republic Records Studio Director at Universal Music Group Manhattan Beach, California, and he has been working with AJ since she signed with the largest record company in the world at the age of 14, two years ago. Rob was the MC of AJ Christmas Show that aired Dec 23, of 21. AJ’s Christmas Show that live-streamed on Dec 23 of 21 had some of the most important musicians of our time: Frank Sinatra's drummer for 6 years, and sun in-law of the late Henry Mancini, Greg Field has won 9 Grammys, and the bass player, Chuck Berghofer who also played for Sinatra for 6 years, and toured with Barbara Streisand, accompanied AJ on her Christmas Show, and they stated that she had the "storytelling ability of the greats, Streisand, Fitzgerald, Vaughan, including Sinatra, to name a few. The main pianist, a five-time nominated for Grammys, Shelly Berg, stated in all his years working with the greatest vocalist, he had never encountered a talent like AJ. Did I forget to mention Jimmy Z, the famous Sax Player who worked with Rod Steward, Etta James, the Eurythmics, and Doctor Dre, was part of the band for the show? Jimmy stated that AJ was the best he has ever played for. Rob Christie Republic Records Studio Director at Universal Music Group Manhattan Beach, California played the guitar, and was the MC of the show. (I can't list the complete backgrounds on all the band members because it would take several pages to do them justice.) Angelina stated that she would rather perform than take a breath, and she has never been forced to perform, it has been her decision.
when you do "I Have Nothing" make sure to do the studio version and not the outdoor live festival. The band is way much better in the studio version and the sound of her voice resonate much, much better, of course. I'm sure you already knew that. Good work Missy.
This video was a family affair, with her Grandmother Mery Zamani as Ex-Producer, her Uncle Mike's two daughters, and her sister Juliette as the young girl growing up. The symbolism from the dust flying off the piano representing the past, Elvis's Black jumpsuit, and the red guitar he played during his come-back tour in1968, to Priscilla Presley's hairdo was pure genius in storytelling. Most of all Angelina sang in a deeper mature voice drawing you into "Suspicious Minds", told through Priscilla's perspective during their troubled marriage, by slowing down the song's tempo and allowing the lyrics to tell the story. Angelina Jordan has developed her style of singing that sets the mood of all her songs. She is a pure Artist! RegenerationNationTV
The two youngest girs are the daughters of her Uncle Mike who is her manager. The older girl is her younger sister, Julietta. The piano player is two time Grammy winner, Rob Christie, who is a Studio Director for Republic Record where Angelina signed as a Priority Artist. The song is about the pain a trustworthy person feels when they are not trusted by someone they care about deeply. Angelina's ability to make you 'feel' is what sets her apart from other great singers who dazzle with vocal acrobatics. I appreciate you analysis. Thank you.
the angelina rabbit hole is a deep and fabulous one, but there are many others, could you please go down my favourite australian rabbit hole, katie noonan. start by reacting to her singing my baby just cares for me on the tv show rockwiz, i would really appreciate hearing your reaction, thank you
The more I watch this video the more I'm starting to think of her as a female Elvis. She has such a strong sense of "style" which was Eivis' great strength. BTW If you're a guitar player (which it looks like you are) you need a semi acoustic. It has the best of a solid body electric and a mic'd acoustic. I think if you get one you may decide to get rid of some of your solid bodies. I have two (both Ibanez) and they are my favorites. Would I give a million bucks to hear her in a duet with Elvis.
Nice analysis! This is one of my favorite Angelina covers and is emblematic of her genius. Starting and ending the song with the bridge not only recasts the lyric in a new light, but updates and improves the entire flow of the song. What a musician she is! If you're going to check her studio version of I Have Nothing, I'd like to suggest that you combine it with her cover of another Whitney Houston classic: I Will Always Love You. Angelina has a rehearsal video of I Will Always Love You that shows a more personal and intimate approach. I'll link it in case you want to use it: ua-cam.com/video/eml4tIAqWUY/v-deo.html
Good to see you back on the Angelina adventure! I always love your insight and comments. Yes, you definitely need to react to " I Have Nothing" Studio version ua-cam.com/video/iX0g99jN26U/v-deo.html
Judging from the chandeliers in the background this is the same location. I don't know if they record here or just use it for shooting the video and overlay the audio track. I suspect the latter because the piano track on Suspicious Minds definitely sounded like Rob's Grand, not that old upright.
I believe this is her last independent video. Who knows what copyright issues reactors are going to encounter going forward. And yes there are two videos of I Have Nothing one live, I personally prefer the one that is recorded by her.
It is the same antique store in Hollywood that she used for My Funny Valentine AJ plays guitar, keyboard/piano, violin and flute. Don’t forget she writes music and was the youngest author in Norway to publish a book. No loud band, no light show, no dancers, just two instruments to accompany the MAGIC that Angelina Jordan brings like no one else can. At 7 she was killing us, at 16 she is taking us places we have never been. What a glorious production, praise to everyone involved, so perfect for Angelina Jordan she rules the universe with her talent. Again, the great talent of Rob Christie playing the piano. The Cinemaphotography, a total MASTERPIECE, Excellent ART Cole McCarthy! Great touch, the cousins and sister get a cameo. Mery, you should be so proud, AJ's grandma produced this. (This red guitar is identical to the one Elvis played in his 1968 concert on TV.) Oh, the tears, and loss of breath, she is like no other in the universe. Here is a classic example of what this ethereal talent, Angelina Jordan, can achieve she takes a mundane song and turns it in to phenomenal classic. Angelina at 16 is the MASTER of her universe, she is top priority for both Stargate, and AJ's voice has been unique since she was 7 years old and now at 16, she controls us as an audience, leaving us hang on every word and phrase

👍👍 Angelina's cover of "I Have Nothing" is not a cover anymore it's Angelina taking OWNERSHIP of the song,,, after she was given permission from Sony Entertainmen to keep her rendition of the song and play with it vocally in anyway she chooses,, Even this this song "Suspicious Minds" she was given permission to keep her rendition to this song,,, 👣🌬🌎
@@js33412 it is nice to have Republic Records get her foot in the door,, but as far as the two songs it was all Angelina and her beautiful vocals cuz I believe these are under her own Label/Company (Angelina Jordan Inc.) And not under Republic Records,,, but I could be wrong?? 👣
@@davidfehlman5150 No, I agree with you. I just meant that Angie's association with Republic records and a word here and there from them could be helpful. It's who you know...
If you will do the reaction on her Whitney Houston cover I suggest you do the live version when she sang I Have Nothing in Norway just last month. ☺️ Nice reaction though.
Regarding her cover of "I Have Nothing", the thumbnail that popped up there was the studio version she released on her Official channel last month. She also has (on the same channel) a live rendition she did on the Norwegian TV show _Allsang på Grensen_ [Sing-Along on the Border] two months ago, in June (which is also on their channel, and has already garnered 1.6M views there). Since I generally prefer live stuff to "produced" studio recordings (her "I Put a Spell on You" being one glaring exception), I'd say react to the live one. But if I'm being honest, I kinda prefer the "home studio" version she posted to her CoverChannel [sic] when she was 13. I call it "home studio" because it seems to be stitched together from multiple audio takes (hence, "studio"), but doesn't appear to be professionally produced (hence, "home" - although the location doesn't appear to literally be her home). Anyway, regardless of this "studio" aspect - and the fact that her choice to use the same key as Whitney's original studio track pushed her to the limits of her belting abilities at the time - I still prefer that vocal arrangement over the more recent one(s). Obviously, Your Mileage May Vary. It would be _insane_ if you were to react to all 3 versions in one video.😁
Although I suspect you will stick with her more recent stuff for a while (since there's so much of it lately, and many recommenders will want to showcase her maturing voice), I'd like to lobby for some of her older - or is that younger? - stuff. You've heard her at 9 ("I Put a Spell on You"), and you probably thought you were hearing "young Angelina" with that one. In my mind, that is merely her "late early period" (the transition fom her "early" to "middle" period happening, IMO, when she was 10). Anyway… let me get to the point: you need to hear her at 7 and 8 to get a better idea of "where she came from" (something you've basically just been "guessing" about up to this point). If you want to "ease into" her earlier stuff, I'd recommend "Fly Me to the Moon" on _The View_ (September 2014) and "What a Difference a Day Makes" on _Allsang på Grensen_ (July 2014), both when she was 8. But otherwise, I'd say just start with the performance that introduced her to the world (literally): her "Gloomy Sunday" audition on _Norske Talenter_ [Norway's Got Talent] when she was 7 (video of which went viral online and led to coverage by media outlets like CNN, _Time_ , _People_ , and _The Mirror_ in the UK, in less than a week). There is quite a bit of earlier footage of her (but not nearly enough!), going all the way back to the very first time she was caught on camera singing ("I Will Always Love You", at 1½). But I think that pre-NGT stuff can wait. Her four performances on NGT - "Gloomy Sunday", "I'm a Fool to Want You" (a cappella), "Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down)", and "Summertime" (the last two broadcast live) - document an incredible transition from (shall we say) a "child singer who is surprisingly good for her age" to a "damn fine singer, regardless of age" (not to mention: "when is her album coming out, and where can I buy it?"🙃). I mean, true, her voice was still obviously that of a child at the end of the competition, but the way she used that voice… simply stunning. (Spoiler alert: she won the competition with 46% of the [Norwegian] TV audience vote, in a field of 10 final acts. She didn't just win: she _dominated_ the competition. And with not a single belted note, nor any ear-splitting high notes in any of her performances - not even any stereotypical "big finishes". As I like to put it, she won "the hard way": with Just Plain Good Singing.) I have a playlist on my channel (with an obvious enough name) that might help you to decide which videos you want to use to react to all of her performances on _Norske Talenter_ . Just be sure to read the full playlist description, otherwise it'll be quite confusing.
If you want to react to I Have Nothing by Whitney Houston, this is the version to listen to - ua-cam.com/video/iX0g99jN26U/v-deo.html Absolutely what I expected. She made this her own song and she did it beautifully. I noticed Juliet sitting there she is going to be as beautiful as Angelina one day. Elvis' version is great, and it still is one of my favorites. but Angelina's version is equally great and is definitely her own. When I first heard this song I loved it and put it at #3 on my playlist (Angelina Jordan Playlist by Terry M.), about midday I moved it up to #1. The main thing that changed my mind was the power in her voice. I'm not talking about loudness I'm talking about the power she has regardless of how loud or soft she sings. This is a quality that I haven't heard from anyone in my 82 years. This voice has become so unique that it is totally unmatched. Her phrasing in the last bridge is great. And she got Elvis’s ‘Oh Yea’ at the end of the song. The pianist is Rob Christie (3 Grammys), he is the head of the Republic Record department that is responsible for Angelina and other singers. The two small kids are her uncle Mike's kids, and the older girl is Angelina's sister. If you haven’t already reacted her latest studio of Whitney Houston's version you should - here’s the link - ua-cam.com/video/iX0g99jN26U/v-deo.html 🙂
🎸 Could it be that this is Elvis´s original guitar that was auctioned off last year? I mean because: Angelina is very careful with it and Rob seems to collect things like this (see Christmas video).
@@robc7611 Wow, Rob C! Is the record we're all waiting for really not coming out until next year, even though it's almost finished? What's on it? How good is it? Can you say anything?
My interpretation of the symbolism of this music video: First, and foremost; Angelina Jordan at 16 is the epitome of a Storytelling ARTIST, and she has the ability to take us by the hand and lead us down an imaginary path that we visualize as reality. The remarkable fact is that we experience this in each of her performances. In this video we see her as a married woman in her mid to late 20s. As the video starts out, we see dishes, and it is a symbol of a home. As AJ sings the phrase “Were caught in a trap, I can’t walk out” we see 3 small children, this to me is a marriage where the children come first. If it were AJ by herself, she would not stay in a relation without trust. AJ adapts the performance to pay homage but then makes it her own and so much better than the original.
her outfit, the guitar, the hair was an ode to Elvis' 68 comeback special
Angelina 🌟⭐️🌟⭐️🌟
AJ is HOPE
In a world often clad in grey,
A voice like dawn's first golden ray,
Angelina Jordan, with each note she sways,
Brings to life the silent fray.
Her music, a balm to the weary soul,
Lifts the fallen, makes them whole,
A testimony to her art's pure goal,
Touching hearts, her ultimate role.
From Norway's shores to lands afar,
Her songs, like a wish upon a star,
Inspire dreams, heal every scar,
A young muse, raising the bar.
In every melody, a story told,
Of struggles, triumphs, brave and bold,
A timeless gift, more precious than gold,
Angelina's voice, a sight to behold.
To her fans, she's more than a song,
A beacon of hope, where they belong,
In her music, they find a bond,
Angelina Jordan, a love lifelong.
Beautiful ❤❤
Plus on écoute Angelina plus on a envie de l'écouter 🤍🤍🤍
😄
Right on Rusty 👏
Rusty, your dedication to Angelina is fantastic. We Angels so appreciate you!
I don't think so, she is just copying other singers.
We saw you lean over to stop the video, but you just could not, it is mesmerizing and hypnotic.
Watched your reaction again I love this song. Angelinas version.
And, as usual, Angelina makes an old song into something completely her own!
And sang it the way it should have been sung.
Here is the link to the performance (7.6 million views last I checked)

My first time I heard her years ago I said 'she will sing artists songs better than them'......
And she has a long list of covers.
Absolutely yes!!!
Missy , Angelina's leather outfit , red guitar ( A Fender Telecaster ) and Rob Christie 's suit are a nod to Elvis's 1968 comeback tour. Herr Beehive hairdo is in honor of Elvis's wife Priscilla .
The guitar is a "Hagström Viking II".. (I Googled it!).
@@kristena9285 The guitar is what Elvis used in his 1968 comeback tour and Elvis used a Fender Telecaster , The Hagstrom is a knockoff of the Fender original ! I googled it also a few weeks ago !
@@stevebeck7704 You tell that to the customer who paid 625.000 dollars for it at an auction:
(cut and paste from "Guitar World" with very recognisable pictures of the instrument):
"Elvis Presley’s 1942 Martin D-18 acoustic guitar may have recently sold for $1.32 million, but fear not - another of the King’s axes, this one his cherry-red Hagstrom Viking II electric guitar, famous for its use in the legendary '68 Comeback Special, is hitting the block.
The semi hollow instrument is a highlight of Kruse GWS Auctions’ Artifacts of Hollywood & Music auction, which begins on March 27. It's being offered with a starting bid of $250,000."
And Steve: The name "Hagstrom" is clearly readable (in gold letters) on the guitar that Angelina uses AND on pictures of Presley..
And that Hag belongs to Rob Christie the pianist. He said in his Instagram
Truth be told, THEY are the ones getting blown away the most, for obvious reasons 🙂
It takes knowledge to be able to recognize and analyse all the tiny nuances in her performances, DELIBERATE nuances at that. But she was skilled enough already at 7 and 8 to win Norway's Got Talent, (she got 46% of the votes, and the 9 other finalists shared the other 54%)
Please DO check out her studio recording of "I Have Nothing". Here are the two links :

Tiny Little Girl
Our tiny little girl with the grownup voice will be 17 on Jan.
What female will be brave enough to do a cover of Angelina Jordan I don't think there's one out there barefooted princess never disappoints 👣👣👣👣👣
Not a lot to say except that I love your reaction! You have an awesome smile!
Epic. Incredible. ♥👣👸🏻🎷
you probably missed the blue suede shoes she was wearing while sitting midsong....

Simply stunning , Angelina is so much one of a kind, absolutely amazing version of a classic.
So is the video Angelina dusting off the beautiful old classics or growing up with them. ❤ this
It's just beautiful. Thank you. My new favourite.

God Bless!
The two little girls are her cousins (her Uncle Mike's daughters).

Angelina Jordan has an epic voice and I love her emotional content. Veronica Swift is another great young diva to seriously consider and react to.

Please also support Angelina by putting the link to the original video as well as the other Angelina's channel if different 😸 Thank you in advance !
I like the audio you put through in your reviews. High quality

Very well said, sir! And thank you for your service! I was born in 1955 when Elvis' popularity was just beginning to grow.
The beehive honors Priscilla. The guitar exactly the same model that Elvis used for his 1968 Comeback Special on NBC, and the leather pretty much matches, too. And, those might just be blue suede shoes she walks in with.
ek She walks in with shiny, silver ankle boots. The blue suede shoes that Elvis wore were flat-heeled, toe-cap brogues with laces.
Mozart and Angelina = is true!
Rob Christie Playing Piano:
That dude playing the piano is Rob Christie Republic Records Studio Director at Universal Music Group Manhattan Beach, California, and he has been working with AJ since she signed with the largest record company in the world at the age of 14, two years ago.
Thank you.
Yes please review her latest Whitney tribute ❤️
Where is the link to Angelina Jordan’s original video?🤔
The baby and very little girl are Angelina's cousins, and the preteen girl is Angelina's sister Juliette.

the angelina rabbit hole is a deep and fabulous one, but there are many others, could you please go down my favourite australian rabbit hole, katie noonan. start by reacting to her singing my baby just cares for me on the tv show rockwiz, i would really appreciate hearing your reaction, thank you
AJA and Hayley Reinhart... You got that right
The more I watch this video the more I'm starting to think of her as a female Elvis.
Seventeen !
Would love you to listen to AJs cover of Back to Black, you can hear how much respect she has for Amy Winehouse.
Yes, the studio version. The live versions are great, but have minor flaws relating to wind, demands from video producers, etc.
@@leechap3 I suspect the former. If you go to the original video around :28 you can see that the chandelier looks mic'd.
Angel.ina😇🙏❤️
I believe this is her last independent video. Who knows what copyright issues reactors are going to encounter going forward. And yes there are two videos of I Have Nothing one live, I personally prefer the one that is recorded by her.
Scott What do you mean when you write "her last independent video"?
@@103mrg she is under contract now.
@@scottdarden3091 So what? For example, take a look at who owns the rights for Suspicious Minds.

Angelina also sang this song live at her Summer 2022 Norway Concerts: ua-cam.com/video/bIBYDdWSw6Q/v-deo.html
It is the same antique store in Hollywood that she used for My Funny Valentine
AJ plays guitar, keyboard/piano, violin and flute.

The Hagstrom Red Guitar used in this video is a modern up to date copy of the one Elvis used in 1968.
The Hagstrom Red Guitar belonged to musician Al Casey, a member of Elvis’ backing band during the special in 1968. According to an accompanying letter from Casey, he was asked to let Elvis use the guitar by the producers, as they "thought it would look beautiful on camera and with the set."

There are also mashups of Angelina with either original artist and/or instrumental band. Some of these are truly incredible. Some examples include following.
---- Ain’t No Sunshine [Angelina was 12 years-old. This is Bill Withers classic 1971 R&B hit. Musicians Hank Roberts (great cello), Brian Wilson (drums), Mike Stark (piano) and Anna Coogan (guitar) originally performed song for singer Canen. ---- Crazy (as 12-year old, Angelina sung song live at 2018 Kongsberg Jazz Festival. Amazing: ua-cam.com/video/RI9s_Qp7X_g/v-deo.html)
---- I Will Survive (This 1978 disco hit by Gloria Gaynor is mashed with Angelina’s audio-only track. Whenever 35-year old Gloria is shown, she is singing. Whenever 10-year old Angelina is shown, she is singing. Close eyes and literally tough to tell any difference. Mind-blowing: ua-cam.com/video/Nryuk21mXkQ/v-deo.html)
---- Easy On Me (Angelina was 15-years old when she released cover video of Adele’s latest hit song from 2021. Tough to tell difference between Angelina’s and Adele’s voices: ua-cam.com/video/OXtRa4FlhMM/v-deo.html)
---- Back To Black (mashup remix of 10-year old Angelina’s cover video of Back to Black done with KORK orchestra and Amy Winehouse’s Back to Black music video. Snipets of Amy singing compared with Angelina’s voice makes them seem like duplicates of each other: ua-cam.com/video/Ly82w_iIrh4/v-deo.html)
---- All Of Me (Angelina was 13-years old. This mashup shows how Angelina pays homage and is true to original song. Combines Angelina’s home video recording with sophisticated music video of John Legend playing piano and singing his smash hit song with violinist Lindsey Stirling playing accompaniment. Mashup creates virtual duet that seems like it is original recording of Angelina singing duet with John Legend: ua-cam.com/video/i0rSKumJE8s/v-deo.html)
---- Sign Of The Times (mashup of short TikTok cover by 15-year old Angelina with snipets of Harry Styles singing his hit song on his BBC produced TV show Harry Styles At The BBC. This creates a virtual duet that is mind-blowing as one really is given impression that they are singing duet together. Unfortunately is only 2 minutes long and thus not complete song: ua-cam.com/video/8glJLHUd7uo/v-deo.html)

Angelina's cover of "I Have Nothing" is not a cover anymore it's Angelina taking OWNERSHIP of the song,,, after she was given permission from Sony Entertainmen to keep her rendition of the song and play with it vocally in anyway she chooses,,
Even this this song "Suspicious Minds" she was given permission to keep her rendition to this song,,,

If you will do the reaction on her Whitney Houston cover I suggest you do the live version when she sang I Have Nothing in Norway just last month. ☺️ Nice reaction though.
Honestly you really like this cover
As I like to put it, she won "the hard way": with Just Plain Good Singing.)
I have a playlist on my channel (with an obvious enough name) that might help you to decide which videos you want to use to react to all of her performances on _Norske Talenter_ . Just be sure to read the full playlist description, otherwise it'll be quite confusing.
started with the bridge with a massive voice

If you want to react to I Have Nothing by Whitney Houston, this is the version to listen to - ua-cam.com/video/iX0g99jN26U/v-deo.html
Absolutely what I expected.
If you haven’t already reacted her latest studio of Whitney Houston's version you should - here’s the link - ua-cam.com/video/iX0g99jN26U/v-deo.html

🎸 Could it be that this is Elvis´s original guitar that was auctioned off last year? I mean because: Angelina is very careful with it and Rob seems to collect things like this (see Christmas video).

That’s Priscilla Presley hairdo that was his wife
The guitar is an elvis guitar.
