I stopped thinking of Angelina as a 'child singer' when she was 9, after I saw "I put a Spell on You' - the black and white video. Since then, she's just been my ever-changing and surprising favourite singer. And the band in this one is spectacular.😎
Everybody is stunned by her last run (and ending). They should, but what she does just before that in the last verse is already hard to believe. The way she carries the verse, with a super mature and experienced voice, the timing, the interaction with the horns, building up that tension for that ending ... Simply genius!
Yes , enjoyed your facial expression as she reached the crescendo ! I think her age was secondary to providing the professional band and large venue / audience 'cause they knew she was 'gonna kick a** and take names ! Her age was a convenient addition to her ability to blow it out of the water .
We’re back with Angelina and son for feeling good. Just live stream repair to fasten your seatbelt. You’re gonna need it. Thank you you’re gonna go on a long ride with her voice.
This is the second video where you've launched full-face into topics most reactors avoid - the anti-age judgements. "Yes, her performance is impressive for her age BUT - !" and you address that topic head-on, full-face, and make correct arguments each time.
Thank you for your feedback! I strongly believe that simply having lived longer on this earth is not the defining attribute that gives a singer the power to emote. It takes a strong sense of empathy as well, and that doesn’t have anything to do with age.
Angelina was 10 here, but almost 11. I've heard this song covered so many times I've lost count. I was a young adult when Anthony Newley wrote it for the London Stage and Nina Simone made it famous. But Angelina's version is my all time favorite. She slowly builds to that Incredible crescendo at the end, and WOW!! STUNNING!!
I REALLY appreciate that speak at length on vocal/music dynamics and very articulately clarify on your explanations as well as telling us WHY your explanation applies to the value of it in regards to analysis and critique. Not many reactors wield the English language so...artfully. 😊
Many have wondered how she was able to begin singing jazz at the age of 1-1/2, but it should be noted that her grandmother 'Mery Zamani' was also a child prodigy like Angelina, although she was known for being prodigious in art and poetry. Then, I found out that she had performed vocally at the age of 4 on a program called 'Radio Iran'. Who better than her to know that special babies, like she herself, were able to absorb and perform structured songs very early on in life while the general public couldn't comprehend it being possible. She was a lover of jazz and is the main reason why Angelina progressed so quickly. I'm sure she was also glad to know that like herself, Angelina was so much taken with jazz that she absorbed it like a sponge willingly accepts being filled with water.
@@Dave-jo1hf Or, if not for Mery, there would have never been an Angelina. I'd be scrounging around, listening to old Billie Holiday and Amy Winehouse to try and satisfy an itch that only Angelina is able to cure in me.
Why did you not finish the video? I find the most nice thing with her performance is how she come back after the high notes and end it so well. And also her humble thanks to the audience. But thank you anyhow to take your time doing this video.
We ran into copyright issues…. I love the very end too but wanted to make sure I was able to get in her big finale moment. We will make sure not to edit out the very end of a video from the future as we continue learning how to deal with videos getting blocked in some places. Thank you for your kind feedback I’m glad you enjoyed the analysis and reaction!
I think most of Angelina's fans remember her as a child prodigy but now in her mid-teens no longer think of her in those terms. She has all the qualities one would expect from an adult singer and so she is considered as such. It is only those new to her that are surprised that she is only a teenager as the rest of us have seen her grow over what has been quite a length of time she has been performing.
Angelina has a very strong sense of confidence. It shows in her stable voice. And to have these level of confidence and stability, she really borned with a very energetic powerful stomuch.
I do wish you hadn't cut off the end of her performance. That said, "Suspicious Minds" is her latest release! It to, will blow your mind, and she's accompanied by a two Grammy winning pianist. Same location near her LA home as her cover of "My Funny Valentine". It's also a gorgeous interpretation! Behind the scenes, you will see her providing notes to a conductor or engineer, as in her B&W cover video of "I put a spell on you". She's performing in Japan later this year too. They'll adore her.
Love your detailed analysis. I totally agree that Angelina is purely an artist of exceptional talent. Her growth from one year to the next is absolutely phenomenal. Hard to imagine she is only going to get better. What a delight. Thanks for such a great reaction.
HI!!! Thanks for your great reaction and here are two more amazing songs Angelina did !!! The first is her 2022 rendition of " My Funny Valentine" and the second is "Above the water" These are some of my favorite Angelina songs. Oh and a bonus is a song she wrote and arranged called "Shield" have fun bro. Ray
I see this performance as one part of Angelina's masters dissertation. 2016 was the year she really came into her own as a performer and arranger. There is a very real progression through the year as she engages with the audience, bands, and cameras more and more. Her vocal performances become more externally focused. The looks she gives the camera during this song are new. She follows this up quickly with a demo recording for Baby Fuzz of his song "I'm Still Holding Out for You." There is much controversy around this unreleased demo, which was leaked 2 years later, just weeks before Baby Fuzz put out his cover of his own song. Anyway, that recording is just astonishing, and displays her pop instincts are catching up to her jazz instincts.
Angelina is other worldly, and as a child I was very fortunate to have my mom expose us to great music. She was A famous singer in the Big Band Era, and was the featured singer for all of the great bands when they performed in the Pittsburgh area. She would play Jazz, R and B, opera, and I grew an appreciation for real talent. She would loved Angelina very much, and for me Angelina is already a legend, and is very humble, and classy. Very nice reaction, and keep the Angelina train going, and her fans will follow. Best wishes to your channel, and we look forward to more. God Bless
angelina has got a lot lot of music out there. checkout i put a spell on you [bw version] when she as nine, also summertime live with KORK when was about 11

I have probably watch a 100 times but every time I see it this she is an artist Paints a picture her words. Master artist She go up & Up & up The stratosphere
Hi Cecilla, Compliments from fellow artists are the best form of praise. I sincerely appreciate your recognition of Angelina as an artist of the highest caliber. Thank you for sharing and expressing your thoughts. All the best.
Wonderful reaction to a great performance of a wonderful artist. She loves to be on Stage and don't wants to go. The following summer she did a full Concert SummerTour with a part the band called..Feeling good tour. Wonderful life performances 💗💖💃🎵
Thankyou for your reaction. I really enjoyed it. It's always exciting to hear Angelina perform. I've watched this one ten times today. It never gets old. God bless you and I look forward to seeing your next Angelina reaction.
Great reaction and analysis. Thank you. I have watched this 100s and 100s of times and been amazed every time. Never gets old, One thing that always stands out for me is how much she truly is The Boss. Whether acoustic or orchestra they always follow her lead as far as timing goes.
First, I must thank you (once again) for making the artist "Center Stage" during your reaction videos! Second, I feel blessed to be alive at a time when these young artists are coming to the forefront of the music world, bringing their own take on older generation genres, and making them new again for all of us, no matter our ages. It is what will keep these genres "fresh", and will open our minds to music that could otherwise be lost to generations gone by. Btw, if it had not been for Angelina, my view of Jazz would still be completely lost to my musical ignorance. Much in the same way that Jackie Evancho had opened up Classical Crossover music to me 12 years ago. Now my musical taste has opened up to all forms of music, not just Metal :-), including trying to learn how to play piano, with Classical music and Jazz being my favorite musical genres to play. Thank you, Taylor!
Thank you for elaborate analysis and commentary and also the research! Angelina singing complemented by a beautiful orchestra of strings and brass makes it such a rich performance and a beautiful visual as well. At any age she is way ahead of the curve. In this particular performance, I do not hear anything anymore giving away she is only 10: I hear a mature voice. Without putting up a big visual performance, she has a strong stage presence and combined with her singing she pulls in everybody’s attention. I can watch this performance over and over, it just so good!
But but but Celilia...you didn't play the whole song...... 😂 But other than that, this song, is a total MOOD CHANGER. #SoGood #FeelingGood #ANGELinaJordan

Thanks Taylor for the wonderful analysis. This is definitely one of her best covers for me. For her age, for the tranquility with which her faces the audience and for the vocal and emotional power her poured into the song, the last part of the song is really unreal, she is very amazing at only 10 years old. I find her reading and arrangement of this song absolutely fantastic, there are some recordings of Angelina that she tries in different situations (even with her mother in her hairdresser!) or in other rehearsals and concerts in previous years (and here she has only 10 years) and you can see how through time she has changed and improved her version. It's just fascinating to see her at work elaborating her point of view. 💛 🧡 ❤️

Awesome reaction Taylor. Thanks for picking up this one. It is tied for my favorite of hers along with "Cry me a River". Angelina is a natural and authentic singer and is probably the most honest performer I have ever seen. It is clear when she is singing that she has a single purpose in mind which is to communicate the story of the song and move people with the story of the song. You nailed it when you said she innately latches on to the jazz characteristics of the performance. The one thing I would ask Angelina if I ever got the chance is how does she choose which technique to use at which point in the song to so perfectly express the emotion of the song. I have a feeling her answer would be "I don't know, that's just the way it's supposed to sound". I think she has been so immersed in the Jazz greats for so many years from such a young age that she just instinctively "knows" what it should sound like and she just does it and that is what makes it so natural and engaging. By the way, congratulations on smashing the 1000 subs. It looks like your Angelina reactions are headed to the top of the charts on your channel. I knew the Angelina fans would love you. I also just got done listening to your original song "The Gift". It is deeply moving and fantastic. I'm leaving the link here for any of Angelina's fans that see this comment - ua-cam.com/video/W9wd4jRqOEE/v-deo.html. It is definitely worth a listen.
Cecilia, I listened to your reactions on the other Angelina video's you presented to us. I love your analysis, very impressive. But, I would love it if you sat back in your arm chair to listen to what you are saying during the video. Let me preface this by saying you are not alone in what I'm about to say. Other vocal instructors, coaches do the same thing. When you breakdown what's she's doing, how she is doing it and what she sounds like, your comments are reserved for only a few. A few accomplished artists who have mastered their techniques and are probably in their 40's. Yes, we can make note of her age when she sings particular songs 'for us' but, don't you agree we are listening and watching a magnificent artist who was obviously born to sing, has a gift, and has worked very hard at her craft and developed to a point at 7 years old which is hard for us to believe until we hear her sing. It's not just the 'nice' voice, the 'pretty' voice, the 'mature' voice. It's everything she puts into a song from A to Z and a lot of it is a product of her self expression. Cecilia, I will only speak for myself but I know thousands and thousands of others feel the same way, we are drawn to her because of the love in her voice. I believe we feel her soul and when we hear her it's like pure love coming from her. The poise and confidence she exhibits is her way of asking us to listen to her sing. And, we listen. And, enjoy. Thanks, Cecilia!
Cecilla thank you for a educational, thoughtful analysis for this amazing performance by 10 year old Angelina. Valerie, vocal coach for Vocal Splendor Studios said, when analyzing this performance, said Angelina had reached the Master Class level for vocals and therefore could become a vocal coach. Cecilla, thanks for posting a link to the original video and I suggest also providing a link to the artist's UA-cam channel. I often ask people I meet if they have ever subscribed to a UA-cam channel and most say they have not. Viewers need to be educated how it benefits them to subscribe and why it is important to watch, like and comment on videos for their favorite artists. Education can help both the artist and your channel.
I'm very happy I found your reaction. I enjoyed it very much. Like you, a lot of people end that video too soon. It's easy to do the song does sound like it's over, but for the very last "and I'm feeling good" she goes low. For your own enjoyment I hope you will re-watch the video and let it play all the way through. It was a wonderful reaction, absolutely wonderful. Thank you for sharing it with us.
So glad you enjoyed the video and thank you for all the kind words! Yes we ran into some copyright issues with this video which was the main reason we didn’t play the whole thing, but based on others with similar comments we will make sure not to cut out the very ends of songs anymore, and play as much of the song as we can in the video. I will for sure re watch the video and love listening to her version!
Cecilia, loved all your analysis and breakdown of the vocals here...sounds like you are referring to seasoned adult singers for the most part, and then we have to realize that we are listening to and watching a 10 year old girl here, not an adult singer, even though Angelina is purely professional even at this age. Enjoyed your reaction and analysis of this young prodigy artist very much. Also appreciate that you are comparing her vocal techniques to a seasoned singer as well. 2 thumbs up.
In case you didn't know, she sang "summertime" from the opera 'Porgy and Bess' by George Gershwin in the original manner (with orchestra). ua-cam.com/video/9tIjM3RG6EA/v-deo.html You also might be interested to listen to "Song for A (Angelina)", which is in classical style too. ua-cam.com/video/4_vBAP2_2A0/v-deo.html
Thank you Cecilia for your excellent work. This is one of the performances of this journey that shows the genius of this precocious artist: control, her own style, total tuning, mastery over jazz variables, etc. This is one of the rites of passage to artistic perfection, which she seeks incessantly, from a very early age.
If you haven't seen it already, her audition on America's Got Talent the Champions (age 13) with "Bohemian Rhapsody" is one of the must watch performances. Enough said there. Alongside this bookend is 9 year old Angelina singing Screamin' Jay Hawkins' 1956 classic "I Put a Spell on You". Angelina arranges all of her music and performances, and she's not shy even of helping musicians match her vision. This child prodigy performs as if she was decades older. But never mind the age, Angelina is great to listen to regardless of her age. I find I can return to this time and time again. The only thing better than listening Angelina perform this song is watching the joy in the eyes of those first hearing it. This is a black and white studio performance that many consider as one of her masterpiece covers. Even her later performances haven't eclipsed this. I'm sub'd to your channel and can't wait to see more A.J analysis because I truly believe she is on her way to becoming one of the greatest popular vocalists of our time. Take for example her version of Bohemian Rhapsody, in my view one of the most brilliant re-interpretations of a song I've seen to date. Almost every person who has viewed it has cried or say's has made them feel emotional. This is due to the style and tone of her vocal delivery, from a rock ballad to a blues song with some jazz elements, while at the same time holding the integrity and respect of the original creators. She's making us feel like Freddy Mercury new he was dying of AIDS at the time he wrote this song and was saying goodbye to us (which he didn't and wasn't) The way she sings "i don't wanna die" or "wish I've never been born" and "Nothing really matters" these lyrics just pierce your heart when she sings them with that tone. I would love to see your reaction/analysis of A.J's Bohemian Rhapsody. A breakdown of her technique and interpretation of this song would be a blessing so I can understand further why this lovely lady's voice has got me so captivated. I hope to see this very soon.

She nailed it 10 y0 love your reaction thanks cecilia
That ending always get me... chills ❤
Thank you. Love your reaction
O, I also love, how decently she is dancing her songs...
Brilliant reaction to our little Superstar.
Like Reactions tell Angelina Jordan Astar is a musical genius I’ve been watching her since you were one and a half singing Jazz
Great reaction to a great artist!! Nice breakdown!!
Angelina has a very strong sense of confidence. It shows in her stable voice. And to have these level of confidence and stability, she really borned with a very energetic powerful stomuch.
She's commanding this band.
I think you boil this down to one short statement.THIS YOUNG LADY " KNOWS HOW TO SING!!!!
10…..Ten. 10……… TEN!!!!!!!!
Love your detailed analysis. I totally agree that Angelina is purely an artist of exceptional talent. Her growth from one year to the next is absolutely phenomenal. Hard to imagine she is only going to get better. What a delight. Thanks for such a great reaction.
Her voice and control to sustain long runs or single notes without wavering is amazing.
The beautiful voice in the history of world music!!!!!!!
Water voice she is fantastic. She can sing 🎶
Regardless of age, she’s my favorite singer
Ray
Thank you for helping me understand why I was completely blown away when I heard her sing this some years ago.
Great reaction to an Artist who adapts her voice to fit the Song she is going to sing. God Bless!
God Bless
angelina has got a lot lot of music out there. checkout i put a spell on you [bw version] when she as nine, also summertime live with KORK when was about 11
I am very impressed with her restraint and patience in this song. Cecillia, you are such a delight to listen to and I look forward many more of your reactions.
I have probably watch a 100 times but every time I see it this she is an artist Paints a picture her words. Master artist
She go up & Up & up The stratosphere
Hi Cecilla, Compliments from fellow artists are the best form of praise. I sincerely appreciate your recognition of Angelina as an artist of the highest caliber. Thank you for sharing and expressing your thoughts. All the best.
Wonderful reaction to a great performance of a wonderful artist. She loves to be on Stage and don't wants to go. The following summer she did a full Concert SummerTour with a part the band called..Feeling good tour. Wonderful life performances 💗💖💃🎵
I just want to say you’re really, really good at this reacting lark! Kudos to you!
Loved your reaction and analysis 😀 👌
Very nice analysis of one of Angelina's masterpieces. Thank you.
Great job. Your appreciation for Angelina is evident! Thank you!
Never gets old,
One thing that always stands out for me is how much she truly is The Boss.
Love your reactions and analysis! Learning a lot! Glad to subscribe. Thanks!
loved your detailed reaction.....
All impressively perfect!
I'm blown away 10 yo and English is his 3rd language she's from Norway very fluent English love your reaction thanks cecilia
love your analysis.
But but but Celilia...you didn't play the whole song...... 😂
But other than that, this song, is a total MOOD CHANGER.

Lol I wish I could! There were some really knarly copyrights in this one… I got as much up as I could and still be allowed to show it to you all! Much love!

All Angelina has to do is stand there and sing. Anything else would be a distraction. 😎
Mery Zamani's greatest masterpiece of all is our Angie! Thank you Taylor for a fresh look at our angle! Congrats on the 1k!
Excellent reaction. I have just subscribed......love from Scotland xxx
Love the voice
In case you didn't know, she sang "summertime" from the opera 'Porgy and Bess' by George Gershwin in the original manner (with orchestra). ua-cam.com/video/9tIjM3RG6EA/v-deo.html

Thank you Cecilia for your excellent work. This is one of the performances of this journey that shows the genius of this precocious artist: control, her own style, total tuning, mastery over jazz variables, etc. This is one of the rites of passage to artistic perfection, which she seeks incessantly, from a very early age.
Nice reaction . Thanks

Hi, Cecilia. I believe I just became your final 1k subscriber -- no better place to bat 1,000 than with Angelina!
Ahhhhh THANK U!!!!! My husband and I are freaking out right now, so much work and love has gone into this channel!!!! Thank you so much for subbing!!!
@@musiccecilia7718 Your reaction is outstanding -- and the first I've viewed from you. It looks like that's Aurora in the frame in the background -- she is brilliant, as I'm sure you know, and a fellow Norwegian with AJ. Please also react to Sohyang, a South Korean performer who may be the best soprano on the planet. I suggest beginning with "Bridge Over Troubled Water."
Angelina began singing jazz at the age of 1 1/2. He stayed all great Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong, Sarah Vaughan, and Billie Holiday. begin singing for her family and friends and and if you’re how do you see what’s happening she developed a fantastic, great singer Ashley don’t change the 17 voices a little bit atomic DNA in it.

I see a lot of people talk while looking at their computer instead. Anyway, its a small point. I’ll look forward to seeing your next reaction. :)
...Angelina is absolutely the best ever love her voice she can sing anything
Congrats on hitting 1k subscribers
She is called the queen of goosebumps, a unique voice - contralto with polyphonic overtones. Full vocal range - 4 octaves.

And thank you for a great, nuanced reaction to an even greater nuanced performance by Angelina! And you didn't even mention her masterful relationship with the band surrounding her. It's one thing for Michael Buble, for instance, to work with a professional band of that size live -- but a 10-year-old?
And the ending, introduced by her famous hair flip, astonishes me every time I see this!
I agree. This is one of her most beautiful and impressive performances and she's absolutely stunning in it. 😎
Who came up with, Angelina in BEAST MODE?
I Put A Spell On You must be the most 'operatic' performance of Angelina. (wink-wink)

Following up on the previous comment, you need to watch her version of "I put a spell on You" when she was nine.
Hi OC, thanks for that awesome reaction & your input. We do love it when reactors get nerdy about what Angie's doing. =) Angie did this song again when she was 10 also & she did it a little differently. “Feeling Good” by Nina Simone ua-cam.com/video/7HaMvkflBAo/v-deo.html She’s 10 in a outdoor concert with a small band giving it a different sound than from the big band.
Angie never sings a song the same way twice, so you could say they’ll all be 1st time reactions.
We hope you do a reaction & maybe compare them to each other on there differences.
Angie chooses all her own songs & does all her own arrangements ever since she was very young, even when she did Screaming Jay Hawkins “I put a spell on you” the B&W version, ua-cam.com/video/nwFloCPXzCs/v-deo.html at barely 9, (Can't wait for another Angie reaction from you.)
