Secrets Of The Swamp: You look better without it, because your hairstyle is cool! Tangle Tower: there's been a DOUBLE MURDER, a hat is the LEAST of our worries!
This game sparked my interest in detective genre. Oh God, I remember role-playing as a detective on a crime scene with my siblings. I even got myself a detective style coat and magnifying glass. My cute childhood. 😢
Thank you for uploading, this remains one of my favorite flash games I played. The Detective Grimoire series deserves more praise, I'd love if this game would get a remaster and perhaps some lore on all the characters, including the mysterious girl in the beginning.
It's funny that you could accuse yourself and the cop XD. Even the description was basically "Don't even think about it" if you considered picking the police
Not to mention Game 2, Secrets Of The Swamp... Grim: DON'T YOU EVEN DARE PRETEND THIS ISN'T ON PURPOSE! The Girl WILL slap you for that! James: If I say that, James'll put a coffee restraining order on me, or be I'll be fired... Probably both! The Girl: ... WHA-Seriously?! There's someone far more suspicious and less adorable than HER right now! Boggy: Why would Boggy frame HIMSELF? _Check the evidence and suspect files again, idiot!_ Sally Spears: DO YOU WANT THAT DATE YOU PROMISED HER AFTER THIS OR NOT?! The Victim: "Not Funny, Grimoire! _(And you too, player)_ I'm watching you!" ~ Officer James
@@tinypinkittycat Thanks for liking my comment! (if you did) But I still need to find out how to find the part where you can accuse other people in the Secret of the Swamp game.
Yeah, but when will Grimoire have a Grimoire having a Grimoire having a Grimoire having a Grimoire having a Grimoire having a Grimoire having a Grimoire?
I remember this game creeping me out sooo much. But the worst was when interoggating the clown his eyes would change so weird from normal would freak me out! When it turns into slits, not wide eyes like everyone else. Now i get its part of his expressions but being 13 years old playing it at 12am in the dark his shifty eyes scared me. 24:35
Oh i didnt even think of that. I thought of that as another art style of eye, like another anime style, expressing his discontent kinda like a 😐@@tinypinkittycat
I remember struggling SO HARD with this game without a good grasp of the language. Took me like 5 attempts to even decipher the mechanism behind the interviews and the eye contact thing. What really elevates this game above its sequel Secret at the Swamp is how difficult it can be finding out who did it if you don't look extensively for clues, specially at the crime scene. Spoilers, I guess… After discarding the clown as the main suspect, it's almost like you can point fingers at anyone, when in SatS it's pretty obvious who did it based on the motivations alone. Which is what almost made me praise the sequel for it's challenging story, until I found out that I happened to miss meeting an entire suspect, the one who was obviously guilty, of course. Haven't played the third in the series yet, hopefully it's at the same level as the original DG.
For me, it was the said suspect was painfully obvious: facial expressions, voice nuances, fear of the little girl while everyone else either couldn't see/was very chill about her, and overall extreme cockiness!
I don't care what Wikipedia Says! I don't care if this Game's a “Prototype” and “Not Considered Part of the Series”! It's the Beginning, it was Referenced in Secrets of the Swamp, and there's Nothing anyone can do to make me Believe Otherwise!
I’ve started playing the sequel. I feel more strangely drawn to the grunts of the characters than to the actual voice acting. Maybe it adds a degree of intrigue because we’re left to imagine what these characters sound like, locked away from a certain aspect of who they are, increasing the mystery aspect. Or maybe it’s just nostalgia
I'm not a fan of showing the cursor movement in my gameplay especially when this is a 'point and click' game. I don't want to annoy my audience with that and using that ripple effect is the least thing that I could do.

Hope we can get a Remaster of this game with new designs and voice acting! The second and third Detective Grimoire games looked way more updated!
Yeah, we need a remaster for this game. This game is great!
I liked this one and two best! It's not too realistic or too cartoony!
Honestly, I'd love to see it remastered but not like the new ones. I want the same animations, maybe a darker motif and voice acting
