When designing our new Lightweight Enhanced (LE™) Castle Nut & End Plate System, we came up with two systems that virtually eliminates the risk of your castle nut ever backing out. With our two lockdown systems (K1 & K2), we've engineered a solution to install the castle nut onto the end plate that is not only robust, but also stands true to our brand of innovation and ingenuity. The K2 system utilizes a c-clip design that seats itself through a designed slot on the bottom of the end plate and into corresponding cutouts on the castle nut. This ultra precision fit allows the castle nut to seat itself into place without the need of staking the end plate. No ratcheting, no set screws, no backing out and no failures.
Features:
Lightweight design at only .59 oz / 15.6 grams total
Castle nut and end plate are 7075 T6 Aircraft Grade Aluminum
Quick Detach Socket - 360º rotational locking interface
No set screws or ratcheting systems that can't be reused
Made in the USA
Whats the difference between the omega and regular version k2
The main difference was the locking mechanism. The Omega (now the K2) was originally designed with a c-clip whereas the updated K2 version utilizes a more robust locking lever.
Now I want two of them.
The fortis backplate dosent even fit on my aero buffer?
The endplate should fit all mil-spec buffer tubes. Please reach out to our customer support team at info@fortismfg.com if you need further assistance.
Another great design by fortis Look forward to it
This is an older video but as an avid AR15 builder and enthusiast I can vouch for these castle nut and end plates. I've never had one back out on me and it is solid. It's better than the PWS and Lantac versions... I've tried them all. Both PWS and Lantac are very hard to loosen and take off while the K2 keeps tension when you want and also loosens too. Great if you're a tinkerer like me but still want a locked in castle nut system.
Here are the downsides. Aluminum will never be as strong as steel but in all my time I've never destroyed a castle nut or end plate from "hard use". The QD is really my only gripe and it's not just designated to this end plate. All aluminum end plates with QDs will eventually wear if you detach you steel QD sling points from them over and over.
The K2 is pretty ingenious. Their SLS/SS safety selectors are incredibly reliable and strong too with how they retain the safety selectors to the safety barrel. The SLS and Radian Talons are the best safeties I've tested so far.
This comment is after using and testing 3 Fortis safeties and 5 K2 castle nut and end plates for over a year in 5 different builds. I've almost changed out all my castle nuts to K2s.
Don't believe me? Check out my builds on my channel. I'm not sponsored by anyone but just a normal dude who buys stuff and reports their experience on the products. Good stuff Fortis.
Very nice ... looking forward to this product.. woot woot 👍🏼🇺🇸

Will there be color options for the plate as well in the future? Silver plate gold castle nut 👌
No, not at the present time. Just the castle nuts will be color anodized.
If the clicking mechanism broke or for some reason you had to break it in the field, will it still work as like the key I ?
And now the AR-15 is truly Legos for adults.
So, is there a torque spec on the castle nut, or is that not necessary with the ratcheting system?
once the nut is handtight you only need 2-3 clicks. but since the castle nut is aluminum i would suggest keeping it under 20ft lbs.
PLEASE ive looked n looked for it in this color choice but can only find the grey option and I doubt its shiny like this ...where can I get it???
call the office
That's cool. Dang though, wish I could smash this up with the Phase 5 angled QD plate. :-/
Need this to release with a nice red color, gold or green
We have all those colors available! ODG is coming soon.
PLEASE where can I get it all chrome??the only option in site is grey and the endplate is black ...ive been needing a chrome end plate set for about a year
That’s not chrome. It’s machine finish. The downside is that it’s not protected front the elements and can change in color and or oxidation/corrosion. If you’re interested, call the office.
The spring is a point of failure
Castle nut ASMR. Yum
What's the latest on a release date for these?
We are shipping to distributors & dealers this week!
Does the rear fit a sling mount ?
It does. 1/4" qd swivel will fit.
