@Aarya True I could just hack them into mine too with ease but that defeats the whole purpose in my opinion. On Pokemon Sword/Shield I got every Shiny of every Pokemon and I got them with The Shiny Charm. Even All the Crown Tundra Legendaries. Wasn't all that bad...

Chansey useless? Oh, c'mon! Not only it's a good tank/safe switch, you can use Softboiled outside battle to heal your party.

Yeah. You can use Chansey to heal outside of battles. Most people don't seem to know that.

This is a full team I only used once in game and it theme was they're all gifted to the player.
I had a thought, what if you make a list for an in game playthrough team of unevolved base forms pokemon, best everstone team, rules : if they don't benefit from an eviolite then they can't be used

I've recently used 4 of these pokemon during a playthough - purely because I wanted to try something different.
Charizard
Marowak
Electabuzz
Exeggutor
Kingler (instead of golduck)
Persian (instead of chansey)
Movesets were completely different though. Makes me want to start again!

No joke,three (sometimes four) of this team are some of my absolute favorites to use in kanto particularly fr/lg. I've never used Chansey or Golduck though so that's my next playthrough team settled!

Before I even watched this I wondered if Chansey would be mentioned. I started a new file last summer in Leaf Green and have Blastoise, Primape, Mr Mime, Marowak, Aerodactyl and Chansey
Have you ever considered making teams themed after certain npc types? Like hex maniac (only ghost and psychic types), punk (only poison and dark types), or poke maniac (only mons in the monster egg group)?

I actually had a similar team to this when I played FR, My team was Charizard, Marowak, Exeggutor, and Golduck however I used Jolteon instead of Electabuzz and I used Dodrio over Chansey

I have, actually, though I'm pretty sure my movesets were a bit different. It was during my only trip up to Canada, I think it was 2005 or so, and at the time I was experimenting with different team builds. After reaching the postgame, I did switch a few of them out for some of the Johto options--Miltank ended up replacing Chansey (I tried Lickitung for a bit but ended up switching back; the basic idea being big chunky pink Pokemon had some good strengths if used right), Exeggutor by Xatu, Golduck with I think Lanturn...I don't remember much of it other than the Miltank grind, because we were on this ferry crossing over to one of British Columbia's islands and I _really_ should have been abovedeck because there was a pod of whales to see, but instead I stayed in the car leveling up my stupid digital cow.

What could I use instead of golduck/electibuzz? I don't have a way to trade them, and I wanna try to beat the game with this team. I'm thinking instead of golduck, I'll use dewgong? I'm not sure tho

That's an interesting team for FireRed specifically. In LeafGreen, I guess you could swap Electabuzz for Electrode, and Golduck for Slowbro or Dewgong.
I would pay a sub for having all of the Pokémon rpgs (including colosseum and XD) on the switch with home interactivity

I literally have a similar team ready form my next play through: charizard, exeggutor, poliwrath, electrabuzz, marowack and snorlax
I used to choose Charizard all the time as my starter in Leafgreen, but I don't like it as much as I used too anymore. Now I'm more of a Blastoise main.
And I recently heard some interesting scary theories about Cubone and Marowak. I will share the details about that in Mystic's shorts on Cubone and Marowak.
I actually love Electabuzz and almost always use him lol

I just got a Pikachu GBC and OG blue. I think I want to try this! At least the ones that aren’t version locked
I'm currently playing Yellow and my team is not that different from this (gyarados, dugtrio and primeape instead of golduck, marowak and electabuzz). The thing is, chansey was great in this gen. She wasn't only a great tank but also had 105 sp. Attack. So Ice Beam, Thunderbolt, Soft-Boiled and Thunder Wave make her such a great pokemon to use. She could also use Toxic but I've given it to my Exeggutor (plus Psychic, Leech Seed and Mega Drain).
I had Exeggutor, Electabuzz and Marowak on the same team at one time, so I can say from experience, that these Pokémon kick ass!
Exeggutor had Solar Beam, Psychic, Leech Seed and Sleep Powder. Electabuzz had Thunderpunch, Thunder, Brick Break and Strength. Marowak had Bonemerang, Bone Rush, Return and Double-Edge (had the Rock Head ability, so didn't take recoil damage).
I also had Flareon on this team (another under-used Pokémon (the least used Eeveelution in Kanto), for obvious reasons). Flareon had Flamethrower, Fire Blast, Dig and Sunny Day.
The other Pokémon on this team were Golbat/Crobat, and Blastoise as my starter. Golbat/Crobat had Confuse Ray, Steel Wing, Fly and Poison Fang. Blastoise had Surf, Waterfall, Ice Beam and Rain Dance.
The weakest link in this team was definitely Flareon, but the rest of my team was pretty solid imo.

You know this team doesn’t seem too far fetched I could’ve seen myself using it back in the day. I’ve used four out of six of those suckers on my team before.
I've never used any of those mons in a FR/LG playthrough, but I really like Exeggutor's support so I really wanna consider using that as my grass type.
My team was Charizard, Lapras, Vileplume, Snorlax, Golem, and Alakazam.
Starmie is a good water type option as well
I've played this game so many times that i actually have used all this pokemons more than once, with the exception of exeggutor since i love vileplume as the grass type 😂

One of my teams was like this but instead of Chansey it was Kangaskhan and instead of Marowak it was Nidoking

You’re not gonna believe this, but my first Red playthrough I had Charizard, Jolteon, Golduck, Exeggute (I couldn’t figure out how to evolve it), Gyarados, Marowack. Was it a balanced team? No. But it established some of my favorite Pokémon for gens to come
No joke... Aside from Chansey and the exact movesets... I've had this exact team.

After watching this, I want to try it. But my only problem with it is outside of trades, you don’t get any Pokémon outside of charmander until you get the silph scope for Cubone. I love the challenge but I find it frustrating to use other Pokémon at the beginning that I won’t keep at the end.
The Kanto starters will forever be the best starters in Pokémon.
Deaign wise, I actually agree. In terms of being able to get stuff done, I think a few are slightly better.
Personally, I prefer Hoenn's starters
Yea i never used this team. Like sandslash and marowak i never used for sure.. only exeggcutor i used and just the other day i was telling myself to start a kanto journey and finally use golduck
I have actually used this exact team against the elite 4 for kicks and giggles before 😂 maybe not the exact same move set but def the same mons
Last playthrough i ran with charizard, cloyster, muk, tauros, electabuzz, mr. Mime. Subbed out Muk for chansey/blissey for the upgraded elite 4.

I always just use 3 or 4 and find that your team doesn’t level quickly enough to match NPCs as you progress.
I’m not that shocked i used a great team on my last Fr game i used Charizard,Parasect (he was actually the MVP),Slowbro, Golem and Electabuzz and a Umbreon since it was a romhack. This team actually became one of my favorite teams ever ngl

When i was a kid only game i had was leafgreen i made this team.without electabuzz but instead kanghaskan and it was my 4th play thru prolly trying something super unique well i burned out arlund lvl 30 avg level. Watchin the video i rly thot u were about to make my same team lol

I made a rerun a month ago but looking back I didn't like it. This is the team I have before beating koga; Blastoise, Dodrio, Exeggutor, Jolteon and Marowak, Raticate is just there for HMs
Honestly I'd use this team except Chancy.. maybe replace it with Persian or something. It's not bad team.
Certified Kanto Team if I've ever seen one.
Replace chansey with tarous because chansey has limited movesets. Tauros is a beast.
I can't say I've used this team before, but I've done many, many playthroughs of FireRed and used most of the team before in one playthrough with Zard, Chansey, Exeggutor, Marowak, and Electabuzz on a nuzlocke (was using each area of the safari zone was a separate encounter in an attempt for type diversity). Ironically enough, the only thing that kept me from having the full team was I had Lapras as my sixth option.
I have used every single one of these pokemon in fr but not on the same team
A Chansey/Blissey w counter and soft boiled can take out pretty much every non ghost trainer in the game

5 of those are my favorite Kanto Pokemon and I used them every time. Replace Chansey with Tauros and that was my team.
@mystic. So you really expect people having Charizard at like the 3th gym? Otherwise Charmeleon won't have that difficult time at surge
So u mean i basically start with the hardest choice? Damn.. my first try in Firered, i pick Charizard, Golduck, Electabuzz, Chansey (yes.. you read it right.. i pick this because when i was a kid i tho the more hard to find.. more stronger they are) , Marowak (because i fall in love on boneclub dmg) , but the other 2 is Snorlax and Golbat...

Making it so that this team is not used because of mid-late game availability was a great move, rather than using bad pokemon or lots of trade evos.
Charizard at the start basically makes you need another team member if you don't overlevel him to hell and back. Good stuff. Loved to see Golduck on a team again. Underrated pokemon, I think.
