I've had Kadabra on many of my teams, & has been one of my most solid Psychic types of all time. That, & I prefer his design to Alakazam. I'm happy that other people appreciate him.
My only complaint about these best team series videos is that they don't account for the need for an HM slave on your team in the early games. Otherwise, your my favorite team builder because you take accessibility into account.
You can always switch out your hm slave before a gym battle or the elite 4. You should still be raising 6 strong pokemon with optimal movesets even if you have to rotate them during the play through to carry an hm slave or two.
@@Usario321did you played platinum ever? Stupid thing is that there are more than 2 or 3 mandatory hms you really have to use innocent bidoof for hm mule
Kadabra is not Underrated. . . Like you claimed in a video on Pokemon you never used, you got the blessing of having Trade Options, unlike like 70% of us who never got to.
Was kinda hoping to see Mr. Mime on this team when it became obvious that you'd be doing this series, but oh well. I'd swap some of the weaker/less necessary moves, personally. Bite on Blastoise isn't helping too much after you get Surf, so I'd give it Brick Break on its final move set instead since it can help with Lorelei, if needed. Fire moves also aren't necessary in Kanto, so I'd swap Flamethrower on Nidoqueen and Clefable for Superpower and Psychic, respectively. Other than those minor nitpicks, I think this video did a good job at showcasing less popular Pokemon that can still put the work in. Looking forward to the Johto team!
I'd personally keep bite on Blastoise since it's a decent special move for Kanto. I agree Flamethrower on both Nidoqueen and Clefable is redundant, I'd personally put Thunderbolt on Clefable instead and leave Flamethrower on Nidoqueen
My picks were almost the same. Blastoise, Fearow, Nidoking, Primape, Kadabra, and Raichu. I even picked the same tms for a lot of them including the dig and arial ace
Okay so two things on Abra, Kadabra, Alakazam: First off i would really like to stress that even basic Abra has solid Special and can learn the TM Thief you just found in Mt Moon which isnt impressive by itself but extremely useful to fight its own battles and make getting Kadabra a lot more of a breeze, Thief remaining useful against Psychics is just a pleasant bonus. Secondly and more optionally, i ended up buying a app for android MyBoy which lets me trade amongst my two files (Red/Green) thus enabling traded evolutions. The app is 5 euros and while i initially didnt like it design and just desperately wanted my Golem and Gengar it has been so worth it as the app lets you customize its layout, not just the placements of the buttons but also which to remove or which quick buttons to create. Best 5 euros ever spent as ive had a blast replaying both Red and Green on cellphone.
Why give Nidoqueen all those special moves that Blastoise/Raichu/Clefable already have? Build her as a physical attacker with rock slide and double kick / superpower for better coverage instead.
This looks like a team I'd actually use I love to play pokemon with early rout pokemon (I consider early rout before gym 3) so I've used teams with all these pokemon with Kadabra being a go to on my Kanto teams
So is this list for Kanto or specifically for red blue and yellow? I mean shadow ball is gen 2. So going by that your team is only for fire red and leaf green right?
This team could not be considered underated in the slightest. A truly underated team (which includes a starter) would be something like Venusaur, Raticate, primape, pidgeot, Flareon, seaking. I'd replace Venusaur with vileplume for an even more underated team if possible though. I realize pidgeot isn't really underated, but to be honest none of the birds really are, and it's mostly for flying and because fearow is better imho.
I agree with everything except seaking. There is a difference between underrated and bad. And seaking is objectively the worst water type in kanto. There is a reason nobody uses it. A much better fit imo would be seadra. It isn’t used much but it has decent speed, and good special attack and defence. It is quite a good ice beam and surf spammer that doesn’t get much love.
Honestly you don't even need Gengar and Alakazam. I had a Haunter and Kadabra in Firered and they did well enough as is. But, I won't lie, once my cousin offered to evolve them via trade for me, I took that instantly and they CLEANED UP.
A coincidence I played firered month ago and most of the pokemon were this. The only difference was I used Jolteon and Snorlax. So my team was Blastoise Fearow Nidoqueen Kadabra Jolteon Snorlax What a coincidence😂😅.
the title of the video being for rby confused me i was gonna say why have bite on blastoise when strength is a better normal type move but the video is intended for frlg
Basically cause Pidgeot sucks compared to the other two. Always bummed me out cause I love the look of that bird and it made me feel like Ash when I had him on my team.
@@ksh5864 the lack of teachable moves. It's base moves suck. Even at level 100 it's best moves it learns on its own just blow and don't do alot of damage.
@TheProdiKaLiSon I'm with you man appreciate that, I was genuinely asking as I'm currently doing a playthrough of fire red and was wondering whether to keep using my pidgeyotto
This team actually looks great. Basically getting all the members before battling Misty...that's nuts. Only gripe, though, is this video's title. You put the gen 1 titles in when this team is for the gen 3 games. Quite misleading if not fixed soon. 😆
Used to always run raichu with double team, thunder wave, thunderbolt, and focus punch in ruby/sapphire when I was a kid. Worked really well when it wouldn't get hit and focus punch just slaughtered. I try not to use evasion any more. It's banned in competitive, and it does feel cheap, but every once in a while it's fun in a playthrough 😆
Always enjoyed the underrated mr.mime trade in these games. With some dipping and dodging you could get this before misty. It came with magical leaf to decimate her. And it was awesome. Specially with the trade bonus experience. I used to use it in quick solo runs to stack up on masterballs as a kid.
10:50 i played through firered recently without doing much planning or anything, and got completely stonewalled when i got to the elite four...my kadabra basically soloed ALL of them for me, because the rest of my janky team wasn't up to it
A few things about this team: I personally wouldn't give Fearow two Flying-type moves since in a playthrough perspective, Fly gets the job done well enough. I'd prefer giving it a move like Agility instead, so it could take advantage of its Speed a bit better. For Raichu, I'd probably replace Thunder Wave and Double Team with Dig and Hidden Power instead just so it has more coverage. Other than that, yeah, the team looks pretty solid.
Fearow is already pretty fast but it doesn't have a lot of bulk to take a hit or two and set up. Dig isn't strong and Hidden Power can be even weaker if you aren't emulating and manipulating its stats.
Wait Fearow and Raichu are not underrated I use than all the time. Fearow for 4th badge and Pikachu for 2nd. Thunderbolt and Drill Peck sweep both leaders
i would love to see normal, it’s my favourite type other than fairy but i feel like a lot of pokémon like my favourite, furfrou, is underrated, ITS SOOO GOOD!! defensively and offensively!!
