I have been watching you guys for the last 4 years.. and I got so emotional when I realized how far you guys have come in life... and so much has changed in this time.. However one thing that has not changed is the peace I find in your videos...Please never stop making these videos❤️🥹
Awww I have to use the exact same emojis, that is exactly how I feel reading your comment ❤🥹 thank you so much for taking the time to write that, cant tell you how supported it makes us feel to read. Thanks for being a part of our journey these past years, and sending you the biggest hugs!!
The warmth of your simple home in the middle of a wintery landscape is so comforting. I have felt the same thing about old farmhouses out in the middle of open fields in the winter, where there are soft lights and food cooking when you come in from work or play. It's hard to fully describe but you know it when you're in it.
Can't fathom all the hard work it takes for Lou and you to put this life together. Yet you always capture it so elegantly!! Thank you for sharing your dreams come true. Wishing you safety and exploration on these snowy days.
It looks SO cozy with the lights! When you were talking about embracing the present it struck me how it transfers in your energy as joy to your surroundings. I wanted to say that as your joy becomes a gift to others.
Bianca, thank you so much, I wrote your message down in my notebook ❤ what a beautiful thought! Transferring energy into joy in our surroundings :) Big hugs from all of us!
I’m so glad you listened to your body. You have light in the eyes, your skin is so healthy and it looks like you’re really enjoying life these days. 🫶🏽
Have you guys considered putting up a wall mounted fold-down table in the kitchen? That way you have options b/t the floor and table. Could do folding chairs/highchair as well so as not to take up a bunch of space. Just a thought...🙂
Thank you! Yes we have considered it and it may be a project for the future, but right now we really enjoy it this way so it's not too high on our agenda yet :) wishing you wonderful Sunday ❤
Dana, I love your cardigan! It’s both cute and cozy, which I find is tricky to combine the two. You look particularly beautiful because you’re so happy!
Three decades of moving, doing, reaching for the next goal. Then I became a parent and there was simply “being”. More decades passed and I had to remind myself that being in the present was the very best place to be. Yoga, nature walks, choral singing - and perhaps next your guided meditations! - interesting how they all ask you to pay attention to breath. Wondering in your lovely, but frequently muddy, area whether you can wash and dry clothes?
Dana I can highly recommend attaching little ones boots to there ski pants ... For instance mitten string thru sleeves... As having boots or mittens come off in deep snow will happen and than they wont want to wear boots afraid they will get stuck and pull off. Love watching your videos and you sharing with us. Thanks for the black garlic demo too!
i would say we are also in that state of questioning how you got to where you are when you are also in the opposite state of grief. that’s what i’m going through right now and i think that’s it’s sort of beautiful how alike they both are.
You have a beautiful home, with the spring and solar you really going to be self sustainable. The lights just make it more beautiful, Lou always pulls it out the bag!!! Little Max in his Teddy bear outfit is adorable. Love you teaching him to smell and taste Ingredients, how he just embraces it really shows how well you and Lou are raising him. Freya watching Lou on the roof shows how protective she is too. Thank you for sharing. Happy holidays. X
Aw that is so special, we are so happy to show you the Catskills dressed up in beautiful snow :) Best wishes down to you in different-but-just-as beautiful South Florida ❤
I bought the meditations as soon as I got the email and listened to one last night! Really amazing work and honestly thank you so much for putting them together. Wishing you so much joy this Holidays ❤️
ah rebeckah! cant explain how happy this makes me :) thank you for taking the time to let us know what you thought of them. its such a special feeling putting them out into the world. sending you all our love and happy holidays to you and your family too!!!
Amazed how much snow you have up there! Here in western Mass we haven't had anything stick yet Your family is such an inspiration to me, living vicariously through your videos and manifesting those homesteading dreams.. Happy holidays and best wishes! ☺️☺️
How did the black garlic turn out in the stew, Dana? I find they don’t give much flavour cooking as it’s best eaten raw/dehydrated (which actually interestingly is a fermentation process hence it tastes sweet) or make a black garlic butter and put it on … essentially everything. So tasty. You can actually easily make it yourself in a rice cooker (cheaper and you can do several heads the same time)! We did this one winter in Berlin on the terrace (do it outside or your house reeks of garlic!) and the nutritious value is incredible - wasn’t sick that winter, no cold, no runny nose, nothing.
Beautiful beautiful video... so interesting Dana, hearing your thoughts about where you are right now, the "is this real?" perspective, it's pretty profound. Max is so cute :D He's so funny, his face when he's smelling the food.... at one point he made an expression that was totally Lou in miniature! Looking forward to the meditations, will definitely buy! Have a great week guys! 🎄❤💚💙🌛
Haha no way, I will have to rewatch the cooking part and spot it ❤ And thank you so much for the wonderfully kind words! Wishing you a wonderful week, too!
We do have a little compost toilet up here containers :) You are right, it would be super chilly always trekking to the outhouse, haha! Hope you are having a nice Sunday :)
Love the christmas lights. Love your big pot! and the stew looks yummy. I don't understand why you're still eating on the floor though lol Just my two cents, but reading the Bible is my "meditation", and I believe provides many more benefits than manmade meditations.

Love your channel. Been watching since van life and just amazed at everything you guys do!! Quick question: is there a reason your amazing dog doesn't get her own jacket during the winter months?
That's interesting that Lou didnt originally want kids! What made him change his mind and how does he feel now with Max? You all look very happy, and I know you are blessed.
Great video. Enjoy you guys. BTW…when did you start eating meat? Moreover, where’ve I been? Don’t know how I missed this. Also, Max in the kitchen with you!! So sweet!!❤😊
Hey! Disclaimer: this is absolutely your life, and huge respect for showing it to us. But, as I suppose is now a natural feeling that comes with engaging online and viewing things people have curated and put out into the world - I do find it difficult to see you both engage in intensely gendered ways, emphasising a desire to live off the land/coordinate a homestead style life, whilst putting out content that shows very specific ways of doing it. The Dana cooking versus Lou building narrative is quite pervasive at points. Though I personally struggle with the idea of consuming animal products, I appreciate everyone has to do what feels best to them. But, it also strikes as particularly complicated to understand, when the notion of locally sourced was mentioned in your “no longer vegan” vid, yet you use non-native spices, herbs etc for food, and also must travel to hardware stores etc, for anything you need for your home. Basically, I appreciate we all exist in our own vacuum to an extent, and contrived as it is, must also engage in one too, unless we want to overwhelm ourselves with existential dread. But it’s strange to hear you justify eating animals via a narrative of eating and living off the land, but you’re on UA-cam, creating a lifestyle that many people have historically NOT chosen, and instead, done so through no other alternative. Also, I know you never sought out to overly criticise veganism in the video mentioned above, and I’m sorry to hear you felt guilty transitioning to an omnivorous lifestyle. But as content creators, I think you need to perhaps take responsibility for certain reframes of why your vegan experience didn’t work for you, in the end - you ate a particular way of no oil/low fat, for instance, which could have played a huge part in your overall bodily experience. Ultimately, incredibly nuanced stuff, and I appreciate what you share with us is a small part of your lives.

The change in diet is really working! You seem happier and your skin is almost glowing with a tan!

Hi guys have the best Christmas ever. Xo
Please get a table and chairs. Pretty please?

You know you could save so much energy by using ceramic radiators rather than air con units to heat your containers.
Lou...you are such a man of all skills are you going to make wooden toys for your son....?
What a wonderful idea! Thank you, Nancy ❤🎄

You consume animal products just like everyone else here.
There is no point in being so judgemental.
I honor your choice of diet. But I cannot watch meat eating.
That's funny.
