This episode is even better on the re-watch when you spot all the easter eggs from their previous cases and time together. The ones that I spotted are: Dan wakes up naked: Maze knocked him out and left him naked at Chloe's house in S1 A girl escaping right under Dan's nose - season 3 bonus episode The head in the box - in season 2 there was a box delivered to Daniel with a severed head the russian mob - Lucifer and Dan went to the bath-house together and later Maze and Dan set a guy up to get taken by the russian mob The dog - in season 3 Luci and Dan worked a case together with an award winning dog The whole "how do I look?" "Pretty good actually" part. This is the exact same dialogue (only with a role reversal) from season 1 when Dan rushes to Lux to save Luci from Malcom The poison - when Chloe got injected with a poison and the whole team worked together to find the antidote The celebratory pudding fountain at the end - pretty obvious. Dan loves pudding! The improv group - Dan and Luci had their first real heart-to-heart after improv in season 2 Maze throwing herself in front of Dan like Charlotte did to protect Amanadiel in s3 The role of the Bookkeeper - in s1 Dan came to check on Lucifer's books for the club (and got knocked out by Maze) The truck crashed into the car from the same side as with Chloe's car in s2 Those are the ones that come to my head right now. But there are probably more that I just can't think of right now. This is definitely one of my favorite episodes (and my most ever re-watched episode of Lucifer).
@@The_Wandering_Hobbit you're very welcome! It was a lot of fun looking for all those small throw-back scenes and easter eggs. Love my favorite Detective Douche :D
This is still my all-time favorite episode of Lucifer. Incredibly enjoyable at first watch, infinitely rewatchable after you know the twist. Kevin Alejandro is easily the MVP of Season 5B, proving that, in fact, his arms are not too short to box with God.
We know that Ella was writing a novel since S3, in the episode "High School Poppycock", when Lucifer was out of ideas to kill Cain, and was looking for the book of the murdered writer in that episode. Ella, in the conference room, made mention that she was writing a book about a forence seeing ghosts.
This is the episode I've been looking forward to you guys seeing the most in the whole show because "You fucking shot me, Daniel" is the best line in the show. Best use of an f-bomb since X-Men: First Class
At first I thought idk about a dan episode right now in the season. But I replayed this episode 2 times over when I hit this point because holy absolute shit. What a masterclass of ridiculousness
See thats funny cause when I was watching I kept watching Dan and being like Bro we really need to check in on Dan seeing him breakdown and become more unstable as the episodes went on.
This is such a fun episode lol. The writers always made it clear Dan to be their favourite punching bag of the show, but they took it to whole another level in this ep and I loved it 😆
1:10 The sentence "one of those countries where they hunt American tourists for sport" is a reference to Slovakia and to Eli Roth's horror movie "Hostel" where two American friends end up experiencing a living nightmare.
Yes, it was like a cartoon.... Did you notice the song Lucifer was playing on the piano when Dan came in? It was a tune Bugs Bunny would play when he is messing with Elmer Fudd!!!
This is one of my favorite episode. Makes it so much sadder when you think of what happens just a couple episodes later. And before anybody complains about spoilers, they have already seen the season finale.
I spent the entire time watching this episode thinking I was losing my mind because it was one ridiculous thing after another. Nothing was making sense until the twist. I was genuinely in distress for Dan. I was so mad at the end. I mean I was lmao but I was mad about it. Lol
The first time I watched the episode at some point I thought Dan was in a dream and everything was not true and as soon as they shot Maize I was sure it was a dream but when Lucifer stretched it it was unexpected and I did not stop laughing
"Now you see that sometimes when you're trying to do the right thing other people who don't deserve it end up getting shot" - Lucifer referred to Charlotte's and Rookie Joan's death which Dan blamed him for.
When I first saw this episode, I hated the ending. Not that Lucifer and Maze would do this to Daniel, but that he wouldn't be rightfully pissed at them for making him think he was going to die. I was upset for him. Now, idk. It's definitely a fun episode, but I still hate what they do to him. That said, I love the fact that this can only work on Lucifer. If any other show tried this, we would have known it was a trick from the moment the improv guys show up
I think this was the first F bomb on the show. Appropriate. Also, I think the detective, bike gang, and Russian Mob were all people who were buyable or owed Lucifer favors. Too hilarious.
Every time I hear his name, it reminds me of that Sherlock episode when Lestrade was yelling at Anderson for suggesting that Derren Brown was involved in faking Sherlock's death.
The Episode after Dan shot Lucifer, Lucifer was planning this entire thing on the boards in his apartment. You can even see some of the things he did in this episode on that board.
Licking a pencil or pen actually can help it write. With a pencil it’s because most of them are a mixture of graphite and clay, so licking the tip can help soften the material by getting moisture into the pores which makes it rub off more easily. For a pen, when it has been sitting around for a while Ink can dry on the tip and licking it can help it roll out fresh ink again.
I just wanted to comment that I LOVED that you guys knew the distinction between omnipotence & omniscience. Most people use the word omnipotent to mean both and it drives me nuts. I did feel bad for Dan, but half way through, I was wondering if he was actually in hell since things was just going getting worse and seemed to oddly target him. I was close. Lucifer orchestrated everything.
Great breakdown. I had to stop watching midway through the episode for the first time watching because it was just too unbelievable as if my immersion was totally broken.
