NEW INTERNATIONAL BUS TERMINAL PLANNED TO BE CONSTRUCTED IN NEWTOWN AREA KOLKATA | LATEST NEWS

According to a leading portal The Housing Infrastructure Development Corporation (Hidco) has planned to come up with a bus terminus complex of international standard on a four or five acre land in New Town's Action Area IID. On Friday, the authorities floated an expression of interest to engage an agency for planning the architectural design of the bus terminus complex. "The proposal is in a nascent stage. We intend to engage an agency that will draw a design of the complex, which will operate international, intra-state, inter-state and inter-city bus routes along with a commercial complex that will have food courts and a hang out zone for commuters," said an official.
At present, the New Town bus terminus is
located off the main arterial road in Action
Area I while another bus stand is situated
near Sapoorji housing. According to the
officials, the residents of New Town have
been demanding for a terminus, from
where buses on different routes will be
available.
