    You need to get with aquachigger to compare notes. He has been using all brands of metal detectors for over 40 years. He recommends to put the Garrett 400 on relics mode and high density for a better signal , with the smaller coil.

    • @thehuntergt
      @thehuntergt  5 років тому

      I don't think I am on his radar honestly. He used to use the T2 for a while before Garrett snatched him up and gave him a waterproof detector. If Teknetics could have done the same he would be swinging that brand still.

      +John La Fave My wife and I prospect/mine for our gold fix. We simply don't have time to sift through the foil/nickel/aluminum range at a trashy park hoping for a small chance of gold. Pull tab after pull tab does absolutely nothing for me.
      This is eastern Colorado anyways...farmers and migrant workers. Not so much a jewelry area.

    Had the Teknetics Eurotek Pro wich is the same as the LRP but without ground balance and also had at that same time the Ace 250. Both detectors cost almost the same.The Eurotek Pro is much much better then the ace 250. Used them a lott in parcs and the Eurotek performed everytime better then the Ace. It's also lighter, more stable on the VID numbes, has better separation and iron discrimination without losing other targets.

  • @romy4593
    @romy4593 5 років тому +1

    You can cancel out the iron noise by adjusting it on the easy to use controls. The arm fit is also perfect for me. I am a 125 lb lady and find it very light to use. You had me laughing about the weight as it is well worth the extra 1/2 pound. .

    • @thehuntergt
      @thehuntergt  5 років тому

      Iron audio is either on or off - it is not adjustable. Or you can just disc it out. As far as it being nose-heavy....use a LRP and then you will have a different opinion. There is zero question the LRP is much more ergonomic. ACE and AT series have always been called nose-heavy with the stock coil...nothing new.

    • @romy4593
      @romy4593 5 років тому

      @@thehuntergt Being able to turn it on or off is an adjustment so I didn't take it that way. Being able to adjust the strength of iron pick up is that what you meant the other does? I am just carrying two shovels, one a sand shovel and the other a foldable along with the metal detector. I can carry alot but wasn't planning on carrying more. I am sticking to just the one detector at this time.

    • @thehuntergt
      @thehuntergt  5 років тому

      @@romy4593 On other detectors like the F44 and F19...you can adjust how loud the iron volume is in comparison to the mid and high conductors. On the Ace and AT series...it is whatever loudness the detector is at....and cannot be adjusted independently. That is what I was talking about in the video.
      This being a VS video that I was asked to do....you might find the review video I did on the Ace a bit more favorable. I did enjoy my time with it. A very capable detector for sure.

    I do not own any detectors at the moment which is why I watched this video. Your bias against the ace is very apparent. You likely should have started the video by saying you own and regularly use the LRP.

    • @thehuntergt
      @thehuntergt  5 років тому +1

      Any regular watcher of my channel knows I used the LRP back then. I was sent the Ace 400 by an owner who owned both....and also felt the LRP was far better. He wanted MY take on it. This was it. Made that totally clear in the video. Go use both and make your own bias and opinion. It will surely be similar. LRP beats the Ace in almost every category other than recovery speed. Take care and best of luck with your purchase.

      I do not sorry. The F5 is no longer in production...but if you can find one for $250-300 I'd grab it. It is a fair bit better than the LRP and is one of Fishers best coin shooters ever. As of right now my $300 would go into the Simplex...it is waterproof...deeper...faster...than the LRP and F5 both. Just my opinion. Out of those 2 you listed...F5 for sure.

      +Salvatore zazo Thanks Salvatore. I was born and raised in California and was on the beaches my whole life...unfortunately I was never into metal detecting until I moved to Colorado. Bah!
      The Ace 400 being a single frequency VLF detector....make sure you stay in the dry sand on a salt beach. It will handle fresh lake water and wet sand GREAT. But the salt water or the wet salt sand will make it go crazy...I will assume.
      Give it a try and just knock the sensitivity down some if it chatters. Try cycling through the 4 freq channels as well. Might help some but I am doubtful any wet hunting will be spectacular.
      However...if you stay on the dry portion where people lay on the dry sand I would think you will have a great time.

    Just wondering if the fisher f5 coil does in fact work on the land ranger pro? I've heard some say yes and some say no. I see you have I in your video but didn't hook it up. If it does work do you have the part number with the slip in connector for the land ranger pro?

    • @thehuntergt
      @thehuntergt  Рік тому

      Yes, it does since they are both 7.7kHz. The connection point (push-in vs screw-on) was the only issue. Early F5 had a push-in connector...later models had a screw-on. Fisher no longer makes the F5...but Teknetics still makes the EuroTek which is 7.7kHz and has a push-on. You want the 5COIL-TEKB. That will be the same coil as the F5 original push-in before they switched to screw-on and discontinued it entirely. Just has a different sticker slapped on it for Teknetics.

      Thanks for the speedy reply! I tried the 5coil-tekb and it didn't work at all on my land ranger pro. Maybe I got a defective coil? • @thehuntergt
      @thehuntergt  Рік тому

      @@edibles_and_exotics My pleasure. It must have been a bad coil, which is super rare. The TEKB 100% works with the LRP unless they changed something in the last couple years. The "B" is to designate the connector type as push-in. The F5 push-in coil was 5COIL-F5...when they changed to screw-in was 5COIL-F5F. Ebay has a few F5 coils...some mislabeled...or the pics are wrong...not sure.
      As far as pinout...the female end is 6-pin...so will accept the older F5 6-pin...or the newer Greek series 5-pins. The 6th pin on the older male ends are disabled anyways...from what I understand. Many "spare part" 240 degree 6-pin females also have the middle pin disabled and are actually 5-pin. It gets complicated...

    It is apparent that you favor the Land Ranger...your dialogue seems a bit bias to me. Example: when detecting the Nickle the Land ranger was just as much all over the map yet you tried and tried again to make it seem better than the Garrett. just sayin

    • @thehuntergt
      @thehuntergt  8 років тому +2

      It should be apparent as it is the better detector than the Ace 400 by a fair margin. If the Ace 400 was better I would have gushed over it and shown my bias there.
      Both are mediocre at best on nickels with the edge going slightly to the LRP in my opinion. Perhaps it is not shown in the video properly...but anybody with enough hours on both would come to the same conclusion.
      For the record I am also biased to the Garrett Pro-Pointer AT over the Fisher/Bounty Hunter pointer...which is borderline terrible. Thanks for commenting!

    • @thehuntergt
      @thehuntergt  8 років тому

      Not really. It absolutely struggles with nickels..even in soft soils. Many detectors do in this price range. Gold range is great on rings and other round objects....but nickels are a struggle for it.
      Just keep in mind that if it bounces lower than 35 (34/33)...nickel. Higher than 35 (36/37/38)...pulltab. So while the machine may struggle...the user can easily tell the difference most of the time.

      Do you mean feet? It would need to be a gold bar or large cache to punch feet down. Most detectors only go 10 inches or so on a coin sized object.

    as far as the LRP goes I just hunted the Worlds longest freshwater beach. And it was locking on to old Canadian silver dry sand 10 and wet 13.. it's my go to machine...

    • @thehuntergt
      @thehuntergt  8 років тому

      +Richard Mohns Wet sand that is NOT salt but is fresh water should give an extra bit of depth. Those Canadian silvers must be large to go that deep. Congrats on the LRP...a great detector. Thank you for watching!

      TheHunterGT Cool thx much.. I am in between the lrp and the ace 400. Looking at mostly Beach/sand & use and water use in California. Your video, great by the way, leans more towards the lrp. But there are so many more reviews leaning towards the ace 400. The ratio is staggering on the side of the ace. Not to mention I can find dozens of Garrett ace 400 videos on the sand or at the beach but I can't seem to find hardly any of the lrp other than those on land, dirt, grass?

    • @thehuntergt
      @thehuntergt  8 років тому +1

      The Ace outsells the LRP for sure and is a popular choice because it is a Garrett and they make the AT Pro.
      Bounty Hunter seems to have a unfair reputation for being intro or starter units. That is not the case for the Land Ranger Pro. It is based off the same Frats Bros 7.69khz technology as the Teknetics Omega/Gamma and the Fisher F5 and F44. All proven to be leaps beyond the Ace 400.
      I'm from California...lived there 24 years before moving to Colorado. It you want to beach hunt and also go to grassy parks and relics sites and the ever changing California conditions...you want the LRP.
      The LRP can manually ground balance to 0 (salt) and the Ace is pre-set at 82 and never changes from that 82. Night and day difference.

    Great video. I would like your opinion, if youth doing mind. I have a 9 year old and 7 year old daughter who I would like to buy a metal detector for. I was considering one of the ace models probably 300 or higher I've also thought about the lrp. I haven't Garrett ATI but that is to heavy for the seven-year-old to swing she has tried need something lighter but still has the bells and whistles not wanting to kiddish like a toy and would like to keep it under 300 any suggestions or thoughts. Thank you.
