I'm on my second garden shovel. The d-handle on it is getting flimsy now. Will be getting an excalibur sir Kay shovel soon. Just trying to decide on the length. I'm sure it will be worth every penny.
@@darinblackburn6023 awesome! You won’t regret it my friend. I’m using a 40 inch overall length. Go from the ground up to a height you are comfortable with then add the length of the blade to get your overall length. You want the handle at a comfortable level for you with the blade sunk into the ground. That’s how I figure it. I’ve had shorter shovels but once I sunk the blade I was still bending over. Hope that helps. Also, if you get the D-Ring it is slanted at a slight angle to give you a little more leverage.
@@DetectDigSmile I did all of my older shovels that way. It helped around the roots for sure. They worked ok but I also found that I needed a longer handle over time, as you get older it helps 😂 Thanks so much for watching!

The longer the less bending over you have to do. They're still rather light at 40". Weighing 3.25lb-3.75lb depending upon the spade size.

@@TheKeyDateKid probably stay in the 30 something inch range. What would the different spade sizes do? Is it for hole size?
Very cool mod on the shovel, I never saw one like that. I started with one that I make from Square Nail squirrel. Thanks for sharing great advice.
