I'd like to see a stasis one (i.e. renewal grasps vs frostees), a solar hunter one, and an arc warlock one (crown of tempests vs fallen sunstar), since I feel that a lot of new players can only get crown first (through the exotic quest at the tower), but a lot of builds choose sunstar over it, so an in depth comparison between the 2 would be nice. I still prefer Gyrfalcon's regardless of content because a lot of people seem to forget that it also gives on demand void overshields to you and your teammates and ALSO a damage buff simply for finishing a target while invisible
yeah, though I will say that from experience it is less consistent to activate it and the damage boost usually doesn't activate for long enough for you to capitalize on it. But you are right. It has higher teamplay than people give it credit for
In high end content where you need to live, Omni all the way. You can be invisible pretty much 100% of the time, and do not need any kills to get the loop started or to keep that loop going, unlike Gyrfalcons. Kills can be hard to come by sometimes in GMs. Omni is really strong when used offensively too. For low to mid content, there is nothing better than Gyrfalcon's, but there is no way I'm taking it into GM's over Omni.... think Scarlet Keep elevator... One is for defense with some offense, the other is for offense with some defense.
well unlike warlock no hunters will ever complain to run omni(if they do they have no idea what they are doing or no hunter mains) ,omni is THE gm exotic
It really depends on what your playstyle is and/or how you have fun. You could honestly use knucklehead in a gm if you wanted to. That's the beauty of d2.

Fallen Sunstar is easily the better choice since u get abilities all the time. Crown of Tempest is only viable when activating your super The overall benefit of add clearing from Fallen Sunstar is greater than what you get from a single super.
Been running omni in GM's and every team mate I've had has been thankful and amazed by how long I can stay invis and keep them alive lol, the ritual room is also so easy to do when you're constantly invis
Objectively looking at it, Gyrfalcons is the better exotic plain and simple. Its just generally more useful in a wider array of content than Omni. Gryfalcons is still great in GM's providing volatile rounds to your weapons to chunck through beefy ads and majors. People also forget about the reserve overshield part of its exotic perk. Ive ran Gyrfalcons multiple times in GMs no problem, Ive had teammates do so as well. I generally prefer to run Omni's ONLY when carrying less experieinced players or while using LFG where I cant garuntee the quality of the blueberries. I dont think Omni is bad, it's amazing but its use cases for me are very slim and pretty much only regulated to a sliver of 1% scenarios I'd ever find myself in( Solo GM's, GM carry's) which I dont do often or at all. Generally once you've gotten good enough at the game and learn to play cover effectively in high tier content you dont need defensive exotics like Omni nearly as much as you'd think.
Hey Mactics. Just found your channel recently, when getting back into Destiny 2. I made this really fun (and pretty useful, just not as useful as combination blow with Assassins cowl). It involves Strand and using the new Hunter aspect to leave behind a threaded spectre. If anyone wants to know what my build looks like, my inspiration came from the Artificer elemental mines archer from Dragon Age Inquisition. Only I use 2x grapple grenades, and Sixth Coyote with a bunch of mods feeding back into my dodges. I use my melee to detonate the spectre (if you throw it while looking at the spectre)
Gyrfalcon in pvp is insane and so much fun. I tried it paired with Recluse and the infinite overshield, invisibility, void surge X3, and Recluse buff just shredded everyone
@@sammyflinders I feel like that’s only like 10 or 20 percent of the game and I personally don’t really enjoy that kind of challenge bc I don’t even have a team for those, most people are just gonna play other stuff imo

I think for more difficult endgame stuff moon battlegrounds..lightblade...I tend to go omni..everything else I typically go gyrfalcons...even though both are viable in endgame...im taking gyralcon in devil's liar this week with lemon arc
You should do sanguine vs lunafactions or ophideans vs transversives. Probably just because I'm a warlock main lol. But what a great idea for a series dude. I love it. I'm willing to bet most, if not all, exotics are going to end up with the same answer. If people are willing to debate it, then it's going to be an answer of "it depends". You gotta hand it to bungie. Since they like to be so tight lipped about how things work, it gives a ton of space for content creators to shine. I really enjoy it at least.
The real comparison should have been Orpheus Riga vs Gyrfalcons. I mean cmon, blinding and debuffing the whole room with your tether and and then a few wish ender shots and you have your tether again. Its just crazy
Great video concept that definitely could use more in the series. My only constructive criticism is that both pieces compared should have a positive and negative listed. Even if it is slightly redundant. Here Gyrfalcon's Hauberk has a fair amount of positives and negatives listed. And then Omnioculus has its positives listed, which cover the Gyrfalcon's negatives. The video should've gone on to cover the negatives of Omni and, moreover, how they compare to Gyrfalcon's positives.
I think one big factor to consider is time. The tricky thing about using Omnioculus is that while it is an insanely good defensive option (IMO the best in the game), that defense comes at the cost of time. It takes time for the Omni user to group teammates, pop invis, relocate, wait for your health to return, etc. In a raid situation where most encounters have some kind of in-built timer that lead to a wipe, I would argue that losing that time is not good as it can require your teammates to pick up the slack while you are invisible. I think the largest benefit of Gyrfalcon's is Repulsor Brace. That perk alone turns survivability of the user from 6 to 100 instantly. Orbs are everywhere, Void Breaches to proc Devour are everywhere, and in combination with a Void LMG (I like Retrofit Escapade but many also prefer Commemoration), it's an absolute ad-clear machine, and sometimes, the best defense is a good offense. IMO the best exotic for any individual to use is the one they play the best with. At the end of the day, try not to lock yourself to a handful of exotics. There's lots of fun things this game has to offer, so try them out!
@@ZaggaZye retrofit was booty hole for pve. Thank god they removed it. Commemoration is the only lmg you will ever need for void, the perks are too broken.
@@ZaggaZye It can't be focused anymore since it's a Season of the Seraph weapon but you can still get it via world drops, using Deepsight Harmonizers on those drops until you get the pattern. I'm personally a big fan of Fourth Time + Target Lock, but there's honestly a lot of different options you could choose based of what you like and your individual playstyle.

My late addition to this discussion is I used Grav Lance and Gryfalcon’s for almost all of day one Crota and it was INSANE how unkillable I was with Devour. Omni for Crota to keep the team alive after and before DPS and just in general, they both have roles it’s just up to you to decide which you need depending on the scenario.
I know your a hunter main but I'm really curious of what's the difference in play style between nezarec's sin vs contraverse hold. Void has a lot of tools and you can play around but I don't really know the difference between the builds other than the grenade.
Contraverse hold doesn’t require a kill to activate its perk, which makes it a better option in harder contents when ennemies have a lot more hp. In easier content, its more about what you like the most

Ive never actually tried omni yet, ive been meaning to but been running gerfalcons like non stop since it came out. Ill for sure try it in my farms on the nightfall this week in search of the perfect rocket
Great Video, I recently replayed the game from scratch to see how quickly I could optimize and found that these two exotics were the only Two builds I actually aimed to get on my Hunter. A month in on the fresh account, I think I will only ever need Void Hunter and for DPS I will just be a debuffer and likely swap to Orpheus Rigs just to extend the duration of my Tether then swap back. Would love to see Crown of Tempests versus Fallen Sunstar as both offer great ability cooldown boosts but apply them in different ways that make it a hard choice to chose between.
I like Girfalcons when playing solo and Omni when I play in groups. Solo with Falcons so I don't have to worry about someone taking your kill to proc the invis. Omni for supporting the team.
Having the full set in dim was such a unique and appreciated experience that I stop watching other videos from other content creators and not having it now it’s really disappointing

Love this comparison but sadly i have to disagree. Your points make perfect sense & i would usually agre with you, except for the fact that 1. Melee kills also reset invis (idk how, i dont even get why), and you can give both devour and ocershields to your teammates by executing enemies which in turn gives you invis again. + every single kill on a void debuffed target spawns void breaches which always gives you an overshield + you can also get orbs that fully replenish your health when picked up. Letting you run around indefinetely even killing stronger enemies with MGs which turns you invis (moon psiops GM is a perfect example(witches)). So in a sense, you do give your teammages more survivability with overshields and devour!! (Seasonal artifact)
Did the GM dungeon really easily running gyrfalcons… double special with deliverance, hollow denial without artifact mod so that volatile will proc anti barrier, and leviathans breath… vanishing step, stylish executioner, with the fragment that makes you go invisible on finishers… I constantly have high survivability while playing aggressively so most kills, highest damage and least amount of damage consistently
If you have an Omni build with 7+ mobility, it can be just as good on offense now. You can basically run infinite devour + volatile rounds while also having the Omni benefits. 7+ mobility just helps with ensuring the dodge is always there. It’s beautiful.
Interesting idea of a video, going with an objective comparison over a simple build video. The idea is there and you should consider keeping that idea as I don't think many do those kind of videos. A few ideas thrown if that can help you : Cowl vs Handshake, Nezarec vs Contraverse, Starfire vs Sunbracers, Crown vs Sunstar, Frostees vs Renewal (Stasis Only), Synthoceps vs Wormgods, Caliban vs Athrys, Eternal Warrior vs Burning Step (similar)
I love Gyrfalcon but i kept some really strong pueces of Omni as i never used it before as i didnt understand its utility/need but after the battlegrounds moon GM ill be using it alot more 100% S tier for me now
Another banger, Mac. Been using your builds since getting back in to D2 at lightfall. Ran the new GM with my (almost) triple 100 Omni build for the first time and it was a breeze!
I also agree fully with the situational aspects of both pieces. I used to run Gyr but nowadays i run more Omni since ive been trying to be more consistent in endgame

Who says gyrfalcons needs kills? Run 100 mobility and triple utility Kickstart. When volatile ends, dodge again. If you want infinite invis, run omni, if you want infinite volitile run gyrfalcons. If you cant manage your invis cooldowns, use omni. If you have a skill issue or you think your teammates do, use omni.
Way I see it in normal content where you are at the power level like raids or dungeons ect use gyro but in master raids, dungeons or grandmasters use Omi also this IS A WARNING if you are reading this today it is currently a Europa lost sector giving out chestplates so go pick these two up
star eaters is better for every super... even after celestial buff it still does less. celestial is only valuable in low man raids when every second counts and you need that extra time to do damage with your weapons
I agree with this pretty much to a T. I have been a void hunter main since day one and have always kept omni on me as having so many options to go invis with to help keep me or my teammates alive. Combine with some orb pick up mods to help with cool downs and healthy finisher makes it to where you have so much surviveability whipe performing finishers and rotating between smoking teammates or using that smoke to blind and weakening enemies. I loved gryfalcon around void 3.0 but quickly realized that in hard end content it was not as reliable.
I’m currently trying to shift into using Omni but I need a better roll and need to craft age old bond (repulsor brace and destabilizing rounds) to essentially have my combination of the two
Graviton forfeit best for GM and frosteez for generally everything else. I have an infinite dodge grenade invis and smoke bomb build with frosteez that's amazing
I still don't get it. I get we all have our preferences and favourites. Omni doesn't bring a lot to the table that Gyrfalcon's doesn't. IMO Gyrfalcon's is bringing more. It can still be played defensively, and it can still help your fire team played right. When you go invis you stop getting targeted, unless you stand where you went invisible, so a damage reduction isn't exactly cake. Gyrfalcon's has the ease of getting invisibility in most content, you can still go invisible almost the same as with Omni. Gyrfalcon's has the offensiveness of volatile rounds, PLUS the reserve overshield for both you and your fire team, if they're close, and you damage boost from a finisher while invisible, Gyrfalcon's is more versatile.
people keep saying "offensive v defensive" but everyone's forgetting gyrfalcons is BOTH. not only does it encourage kills (volatile) but it rewards you for getting them (invis). both exotics have devour, but when getting a kill on gyrf you proc devour in addition to going invis. omni doesn't do that and requires you to use a cooldown to go back invis, and you don't get volatile
additionally, no one acknowledges the ability to go invis with finishers. finished overshield mod + invis in finish allows gyrfalcons more methods to going invis and you're invulnerable when doing a finisher , plus it heals you to full with devour
lastly, team comp in destiny doesn't rly matter. everyone has meta builds so no one really struggles with staying alive , sure omni allows util for your team but 9 times out of 10 your teammates will have builds that enable them to stay alive just fine
not to mention gyrfalcons excels in endgame content , especially when applying finisher invis + overshield, as it has plenty of methods to stagger champs and incredibly reliable invisibility . omni requires cooldowns and turns gms into marathons instead of sprints. gyrfalcons offensive capabilities exceed omnis without losing a single drop of defensive potential, supported by devour, finishers, finisher overshields, machine guns, volatile , with finishers and devour via void breach being the most significant. gyrfalcons def has a higher skill curve in endgame content, but with practice it's impossible to die , even in situations with zero killable enemies if you manage cooldowns properly

@@ZaggaZye It can't be focused anymore since it's a Season of the Seraph weapon but you can still get it via world drops, using Deepsight Harmonizers on those drops until you get the pattern. I'm personally a big fan of Fourth Time + Target Lock, but there's honestly a lot of different options you could choose based of what you like and your individual playstyle.

Answer is basically the same, assassin’s cowl for survivability and liar’s handshake for offense
When running Gyrfalcon, use a Void Weapon with Repulsor Brace.
Every “void debuffed target kill” grants you full health and a void overshield.

My late addition to this discussion is I used Grav Lance and Gryfalcon’s for almost all of day one Crota and it was INSANE how unkillable I was with Devour.
Omni for Crota to keep the team alive after and before DPS and just in general, they both have roles it’s just up to you to decide which you need depending on the scenario.
I know your a hunter main but I'm really curious of what's the difference in play style between nezarec's sin vs contraverse hold. Void has a lot of tools and you can play around but I don't really know the difference between the builds other than the grenade.
i do main hunter but i play all 3 classes a lot so more than happy to look at warlock and titan stuff too anytime
Contraverse hold doesn’t require a kill to activate its perk, which makes it a better option in harder contents when ennemies have a lot more hp. In easier content, its more about what you like the most

Ive never actually tried omni yet, ive been meaning to but been running gerfalcons like non stop since it came out. Ill for sure try it in my farms on the nightfall this week in search of the perfect rocket
Great Video, I recently replayed the game from scratch to see how quickly I could optimize and found that these two exotics were the only Two builds I actually aimed to get on my Hunter. A month in on the fresh account, I think I will only ever need Void Hunter and for DPS I will just be a debuffer and likely swap to Orpheus Rigs just to extend the duration of my Tether then swap back.
Would love to see Crown of Tempests versus Fallen Sunstar as both offer great ability cooldown boosts but apply them in different ways that make it a hard choice to chose between.
I like Girfalcons when playing solo and Omni when I play in groups.
Solo with Falcons so I don't have to worry about someone taking your kill to proc the invis.
Omni for supporting the team.
omni is dogshit in current meta when graviton exists

Love this comparison but sadly i have to disagree. Your points make perfect sense & i would usually agre with you, except for the fact that 1. Melee kills also reset invis (idk how, i dont even get why), and you can give both devour and ocershields to your teammates by executing enemies which in turn gives you invis again. + every single kill on a void debuffed target spawns void breaches which always gives you an overshield + you can also get orbs that fully replenish your health when picked up. Letting you run around indefinetely even killing stronger enemies with MGs which turns you invis (moon psiops GM is a perfect example(witches)). So in a sense, you do give your teammages more survivability with overshields and devour!! (Seasonal artifact)
Did the GM dungeon really easily running gyrfalcons… double special with deliverance, hollow denial without artifact mod so that volatile will proc anti barrier, and leviathans breath… vanishing step, stylish executioner, with the fragment that makes you go invisible on finishers… I constantly have high survivability while playing aggressively so most kills, highest damage and least amount of damage consistently

If you have an Omni build with 7+ mobility, it can be just as good on offense now. You can basically run infinite devour + volatile rounds while also having the Omni benefits. 7+ mobility just helps with ensuring the dodge is always there. It’s beautiful.
How does mobility grant you Volatile rounds on Omni? Volatile Flow isn’t a thing rn.
Interesting idea of a video, going with an objective comparison over a simple build video. The idea is there and you should consider keeping that idea as I don't think many do those kind of videos. A few ideas thrown if that can help you : Cowl vs Handshake, Nezarec vs Contraverse, Starfire vs Sunbracers, Crown vs Sunstar, Frostees vs Renewal (Stasis Only), Synthoceps vs Wormgods, Caliban vs Athrys, Eternal Warrior vs Burning Step (similar)
I love Gyrfalcon but i kept some really strong pueces of Omni as i never used it before as i didnt understand its utility/need but after the battlegrounds moon GM ill be using it alot more 100% S tier for me now

Star Eater Scales for me. Super real fast, and if you use it right it gives you emergency invincibility plus extra damage for DPS phases

Who says gyrfalcons needs kills? Run 100 mobility and triple utility Kickstart. When volatile ends, dodge again. If you want infinite invis, run omni, if you want infinite volitile run gyrfalcons. If you cant manage your invis cooldowns, use omni. If you have a skill issue or you think your teammates do, use omni.

Way I see it in normal content where you are at the power level like raids or dungeons ect use gyro but in master raids, dungeons or grandmasters use Omi also this IS A WARNING if you are reading this today it is currently a Europa lost sector giving out chestplates so go pick these two up

I think of them as:

Omni for defence and survivability.

star eaters is better for every super... even after celestial buff it still does less. celestial is only valuable in low man raids when every second counts and you need that extra time to do damage with your weapons
I agree with this pretty much to a T. I have been a void hunter main since day one and have always kept omni on me as having so many options to go invis with to help keep me or my teammates alive. Combine with some orb pick up mods to help with cool downs and healthy finisher makes it to where you have so much surviveability whipe performing finishers and rotating between smoking teammates or using that smoke to blind and weakening enemies. I loved gryfalcon around void 3.0 but quickly realized that in hard end content it was not as reliable.

I’m currently trying to shift into using Omni but I need a better roll and need to craft age old bond (repulsor brace and destabilizing rounds) to essentially have my combination of the two

I've been running garfunkles as my main build with fighting lion in gms and it rips, sure I'm not a very good team mate but it's fun lol
Graviton forfeit best for GM and frosteez for generally everything else. I have an infinite dodge grenade invis and smoke bomb build with frosteez that's amazing
Run a finisher build for teamplay with gyrfalcon, keep overshielding everyone!
I'd like to see one for Titans. Maybe something like Actium War Rig vs Peacekeepers. I dunno. I already use Actium religiously lol.
I still don't get it. I get we all have our preferences and favourites. Omni doesn't bring a lot to the table that Gyrfalcon's doesn't. IMO Gyrfalcon's is bringing more. It can still be played defensively, and it can still help your fire team played right. When you go invis you stop getting targeted, unless you stand where you went invisible, so a damage reduction isn't exactly cake. Gyrfalcon's has the ease of getting invisibility in most content, you can still go invisible almost the same as with Omni. Gyrfalcon's has the offensiveness of volatile rounds, PLUS the reserve overshield for both you and your fire team, if they're close, and you damage boost from a finisher while invisible, Gyrfalcon's is more versatile.
Can you do some builds with the old exotics. Like if we don’t have the new ones from solo lost sectors.?!
anyone else come down here to point out gryfalcon does have team support with its other ability/playstyle that seemed to be overlooked?
people keep saying "offensive v defensive" but everyone's forgetting gyrfalcons is BOTH. not only does it encourage kills (volatile) but it rewards you for getting them (invis). both exotics have devour, but when getting a kill on gyrf you proc devour in addition to going invis. omni doesn't do that and requires you to use a cooldown to go back invis, and you don't get volatile
additionally, no one acknowledges the ability to go invis with finishers. finished overshield mod + invis in finish allows gyrfalcons more methods to going invis and you're invulnerable when doing a finisher , plus it heals you to full with devour
lastly, team comp in destiny doesn't rly matter. everyone has meta builds so no one really struggles with staying alive , sure omni allows util for your team but 9 times out of 10 your teammates will have builds that enable them to stay alive just fine
not to mention gyrfalcons excels in endgame content , especially when applying finisher invis + overshield, as it has plenty of methods to stagger champs and incredibly reliable invisibility . omni requires cooldowns and turns gms into marathons instead of sprints. gyrfalcons offensive capabilities exceed omnis without losing a single drop of defensive potential, supported by devour, finishers, finisher overshields, machine guns, volatile , with finishers and devour via void breach being the most significant.
gyrfalcons def has a higher skill curve in endgame content, but with practice it's impossible to die , even in situations with zero killable enemies if you manage cooldowns properly
tbh i prefer omnioculus for quite a big and important reason wich is the fact that i am too broke to buy witch queen
