    Well never before in all my 60+ years have I had goosebumps for 17 minutes straight. That is such a magnificent collection I can only wish that it be photo'd, explained and put in print. I cannot be the only one who would pay for such a treasure. But for now I will surely download and save these videos so I can refer to them if I ever get lucky enough to unearth something like this. Thank you BW.

    That is priceless history and it all has a story!
    I was raised in a neighborhood in Baltimore that was created after they destroyed Fort Marshall and raised a church and built public schools with the materials.
    In 2015, there was an Uprising in town. In 1861 a similar event was called the Pratt Street Riot of the Civil War.
    Great collection - great video!

    Your little ordnance prank made me jump out of my skin. I grew up in Vicksburg, MS a mere 20 Yards from the border of National Civil War Military Park. We, primarily my two older brothers, used to walk the creeks (off park property) and find all kinds of stuff including ordnances. Momma and Daddy wouldn't let us keep in the house as what you related regarding danger was commonly known. Pretty sure there where construction permit stipulations that if "something" was discovered it had to been inspected by a park historian to determine its status. At 62, my collection is NO WHERE like this gentleman's! Great video series.

    PS forgot to say I love the videos. It is fun to see you guys going through an old time digger collection. It reminds me of some of the old collections I saw back in the day.
    You have to tell your friend to relax a little bit when it comes to those shells. Yes some of them are still “live” but they did not detonate when they were fired, they did not detonate when they were dug, they did not detonate in the trunk of the car coming back from the dig and they did not detonate in that hot room. The odds of any of them spontaneously detonating now are very, very, very remote. The most dangerous time around them now is when they are getting drilled for deactivation. You did the right thing though when you unscrewed the anvil cap on the one shell. If you can get that cap off you can pull the percussion cap off the slider nipple and the fuze is deactivated.

    • @thebattlefieldwalker2841
      @thebattlefieldwalker2841  10 місяців тому

      Agreed 100% Hoarder. I know of only three ways guys have died with CW ordnance: (1) Botched attempt to drill or deactivate (2) One guy dug one in the black muck of a swamp and he put it on his woodstove to "dry it out." And forgot about it.... (3) In the 60s in Mississippi a guy was walking in a heavy wind and an unknown 24# cannonball was dislodged from a treetop where it had been for 100 years. It fell out of the tree, hit him smack on top of the head and killed him instantly.

None so far, but no period COINAGE either. I think there are some hidden things we haven't found yet...? Hey and thanks for the "Best Video" vote. I'm FRAMING this comment!

    Amazing 😍!!! Don't know which ones to talk about. How about the belt plate with cut corners, wd be great to find out if it's 1812 or earlier, or when it was issued. Would love to have been with him when he found some of those. Probably the biggest,most extensive collection that stayed with the original finder to date( as far as our civil war goes.) Thanks again guys

    That's What I Would Do. . . . . Photograph All Of What You Have And Make Books Out Of The Photographs So That You Get Your Money 💸💰 Out Of It And Either Donate Or Sell The Entire Collection To A Museum Because That Is Where This Collection Belongs A Museum So That Everyone Can See It ♥️
