I bought the attachment for the drill on Amazon for $25, it was a total game changer from hand plucking. I lay my bird on a tarp on the ground and move the drill plucker around until I have one side done, flip the bird over and do the other side.
As a little boy, my aunt knuckle had a dairy farm and raised up to four or 500 chickens. And all the Cousins would it be in charge of plucking the chickens! I hated it. I wish I would've learned the rest of the process from watching 15 adults process meatbirds.
You mentioned my exact concern!! Atracting Prey!! We have goats and free range chickens. I am sooo nervous about where to cull and not attract coyotes, fox and every other animal on to the property?!! We are prey free right now, never had any incidents even though I'm sure their somewhere on the peripheral. :/
GBR!! My husband made me on with an old plastic barrel and broken cement mixer motor. Only purchased fingers and a motor belt. Even though he made it he doesn’t help. 😂 I do 2 dozen every year by myself.

I live in SD & have laying hens & a rooster. Have meat chickens coming in September which will be a first.

My set up is so similar. We made a plucker out of an old dryer rim, works great!
We just brought home 20 days old white rocks.
