I did DBT during the pandemic. I found it to be the most impersonal and robotic therapy I’ve ever taken. The lead therapist would brag about her success rate… but we lost one other person while I was there to suicide, and most were there over a year with no real improvements. I left and found a meditation group that’s spiritually based and found how to interact with people on my level. I am thankful for seeing what not to do so clearly.
I been recently diagnosed with bpd and a friend talked about me doing dbt therapy so I been looking into what it like and different people reaction to it
Hi Megan, thanks heaps for making this video! I tried to DM you, but couldn't find your IG handle... I also live in Melbourne, and I was wondering if you could please tell me where you completed your DBT program?
@@megzalicious7 It came out crazy long lol but if you watch a bit from 49:50 i'd love to hear what you think! looking forward to any new vids you might be working on! ua-cam.com/video/FNIPDAFO7L4/v-deo.html
I started doing a DBT workbook with my therapist, it'll hopefully help. I have been getting worse with my medicine, and might have to start doing group therapy if I don't improve! Any tips?
ahh that sounds so rough! if your medicine is making you feel worse, definitely speak to your psychiatrist. i only got through dbt because my medication helped me regulate my emotions a bit, which meant i was able to focus on therapy. my other tip is don't be afraid of group therapy! i think it's worth trying, not just as a last resort :) good luck!
@@megzalicious7 UPDATE: I attempted and ended up in a psychiatric hospital (got discharged yesterday) and now I'm going to group therapy 5 days a week after school
@@emersa. That sucks to read, em. I highly encourage you to find yourself a CBT shrink, who's familiar with all of these third wave approaches(DBT, ACT, MBCT, SFT, etc etc), like so ua-cam.com/video/lS2E79j-Bag/v-deo.html I had a similar experience to yours, when seeing a practitioner who used only DBT. Any shrink who relies on only one strategy is, to quote AT Beck, failing their client
