Grande Sonnerie is THE grand comp to have ❤
I always thought the JA series had beautiful cases.
Nice watch but not for 150k
150k plus tip sir
Truly an understated masterpiece from one of the Holy Trinity. Those who know... know.
@@stanwilson7040 only a music box just does 1 song over and over. This piece is mechanically setup to read the time and tell you.
@@stanwilson7040 you would have to see the movement to even remotely understand this watch
A simply stunning watch. The only question is, why doesn't Audemars Piguet make watches like this anymore? This is far superior to the endless variations of the Royal Oak and its uglier brother, the Royal Oak Offshore. Even the Code 11:59, although aesthetically better than the ROs, lacks the beauty of AP watches from years past. With this model, it's easy to see why AP are considered part of the Holy Trinity; with their modern offerings, it's harder to see how they continue to hold onto that honour.
they just came out with a 1159 Sonnerie. saw it on IG yesterday.
I've seen this sentiment a lot lately, which I think is strange. The Jules Audemars line was not particularly beloved when it was in production. There was a reason it was canceled.
The "taste" of the public is often fickle and puzzling. The Edward Piguet line was wonderful, too.
@@APOSTA-pz7vs it's not the complications I think AP are lacking, it's just their overall design aesthetic. The Code 11 59 is a good looking watch, certainly better looking than the majority of Royal Oaks, but it's the ugly red-headed stepchild compared to this mid-90s quarter repeater. AP have the ability and the back catalogue to make stunning dress watches like Patek and Vacheron, but they seem to concentrate on endless variations of the RO and then wonder why everyone treats them like a one trick pony.
@@FFL3001 I think the Jules Audemars line was a bit bland design wise and as Tim notes, this quarter repeater is part of APs haute de gamme lineup. I just wish AP would take a leaf out of Vacheron and Patek's decision to look back at their vintage pieces and make modern versions. That line... That line would move AP beyond their current malaise as a one trick pony.
