Wonderful video. We just sat on the couch and watched the whole thing on the TV. We left the city 2 years ago because we had the same pit in our stomach and knew something wasn't right and it was time to leave. It's changed us as much as having children has. Our friends and family don't understand our urge for prepardness and self reliance. Finding our tribe on UA-cam has been a blessing. You have a kind soul. I know how hard it is to be yourself on UA-cam. Always share what's on your mind. You are a great mother. Thank you for sharing with us. And keep creating!
Thank you for your kind words. I love watching your videos, too. We must have left the city at about the same time as your family. Not many understand the urge for preparedness, but it is lovely to find a tribe of folks who understand.
I have always grown flower gardens but never food. Last year was the first time I ventured into veggies and I started small with just potatoes and onions. This year I will be growing about a dozen things to eat in addition to some medicinal plants. I am being led to grow more. It’s a little overwhelming with so much to learn. Anything you can share would be helpful. I’m looking forward to my garden being a place of healing also. 🙏🏻♥️
Thank you for sharing, Red. I am happy to hear that you find your garden to be a place of healing. What medicinal plants are you growing? I ordered some special ones online and hope to add more to my gardens and learn more about using medicinal plants.
@@UnderThreeAcres so far stinging nettle ( pain relief), cat nip ( digestion) calendula (pain, stomach, inflammation), ashwagandha( anxiety, energy, depression), comfrey (muscle sprains, burns, bruises, inflammation of the joints), aloe Vera (burns, skin conditions), lavender ( digestion, headaches, stress), elderberry (colds, flu, immune booster), chamomile( stomach upset, relaxant, anti-inflammatory), echinacea ( pain relief, antimicrobial, colds) , sarracenia purpurea ( digestive issues, fluid retention, urinary issues, treat small pox). Those are the ones I have for now. I hope to add much more in the future. Always looking for suggestions too!
@@Red2U wow! Our lists are similar. Instead of ashwagandha, I’m planting Siberian ginseng. It is an adaptagen. Sarracenia purpurrea is one that I haven’t heard of. With the exception of stinging nettle, I am growing all the same ones. I am also adding elecampane, valerian, hyssop, mallow, and yarrow. Comfrey has to be one of my favorite. The compost tea from it’s leaves is a wonderful fertilizer and anything planted near it will thrive.
@@UnderThreeAcres those are some wonderful suggestions! I will research them. The stinging nettles is just like the comfrey as far as making compost tea. It is a back up fertilizer for me as well lol. I’ve been researching natural fertilizer options. So much to learn!
How do you get your kids to help out? My son acts like he's being tortured when I get him to help me with the yard work and weeding. Someone tracked dog poop in the house and he chose scrubbing that off the steps rather than help with yard work!
We are together all the time, so helping out is just part of our day. BUT that doesn't mean that they are always happy to help. They grunt and groan sometimes, but I try to make it fun. We always have fun snacks or drinks on days where we have a lot to get done.
