- The Rabbit R1 is the newly released AI assistant that promises some features that would otherwise not be "available" as a smartphone app. It's 200$ price tag could have been watered down to a simple android app that would be way more successful as some of the biggest tech reviewers would suggest, sadly this was found to be true shortly after the Rabbit R1 came out, a user discovered that it is indeed an android app with an android interface and it could be made as an apk for android phones. -Its got a scroll wheel they had to reduce the sensitivity of because the wheel rolls when you place it on a table
- It's got a 1000mAH battery that dies too quickly and needs 45 mins to recharge.

-Lastly the info it provides may or may not be correct.
Basically a lower version of a regular 200USD phone.
Lower version of a $20 phone. I could walk into a store right now buy a 3.5inch $20 phone from 2013 install a ROM of the latest android and put the R1 app on it and boom Rabbit R1.

Incredible how improving on the designs of Rabbit R1 just gives you a phone.
- remove the hardware scrolling for the more intuitive swipe of touchscreens
- increase the screen size to improve visibility
- instead of clunky two-handed volume controls, just put physical volume buttons (volume control is crucial for voice-based systems)
- use two cameras on both sides as they serve differing purposes (now you can even increase the picture quality because it doesn't need to swivel)
- add a dedicated back button instead of literally having to scroll all the way up in the menu
- allow users to tap on the touchscreen (which the R1 already has) rather than use one button to do everything

Because smartphone is a peak technology of current era. The next technology would be fully AR which we already have prototype that's apple VR. The only thing we have to wait for is to reduce the device size to a normal spectacle-size and capable battery life.
@@youravghuman5231 apple's AR was a failure not on the part of it being bad tech but on the part of it being niche, with use cases in gaming which it doesnt cover and industries that may benefit from 3D angles or a screen where one is imfeasible

Rabbit R2 will be able to connect your account and interact with your smartphone
and next, R3 will be able to use various applications from Google Play, R4 can be connected to everything, even a washing machine, R5 will be everything and nothing for anyone
The R2 would have a pro model called R2D2 which is rumored to be much bigger but also much more useful

Wow, that's some flashback. I remembered those Java phone games that weren't adaptive. So if you get file for a phone with lesser screen, you get this. Even late apps were multiscreen but sure developers didn't bother with that. Even more, they did some heavy mods to force it to run at that resolution, probably to not run into some scaling bugs. R1 is so slow because it's literally sub 100$ phone guts in there with smaller screen and battery. Round of applause for pulling this out and bigger respect for community to port this app.

@@youravghuman5231 Its lame that that's pretty much all it is right now, but I think most people who bought it wanted it for the promised Action Model. The action model is literally they're only excuse for not making it a smartphone app because of how much user information it needs access to.

Let's be honest, the R1, and all of it's alternatives suck because they're based on a DUMB concept.
Instead of making an AI assistant app for a smartwatch or a smartphone, they're trying to convince people to spend hundreds of dollars for a device they have to carry around and charge everyday, yet it has 1/100 the power and features our smartphones already have.
It's almost like, walking around with a calculator in one hand and a smartphone on the other.
The smartphone can already calculate so why walk around with a calculator ?
Now, obviously if you are walking around with a calculator, then you probably do because it offers extra features and can make more complex calculations.
But all the AI assistants are exactly the opposite when compared to a phone.
A smartphone is capable of running the same "AI assistant" apps which are based on ChatGDP and barely work.
It's also miles faster and has Google lens, as well as countless of other features.
These products don't offer quite literally anything.
The reason why they made it as a device might be because there are already so many AI copycat apps that are the same thing, and the same goes for this R1. They don't wanna compete in that space so they made it as a "proprietary hardware and software" so people wouldn't know it's just a basic thing and thought it's advanced.

Not only is it an Android app, I also found out after analyzing the apk that it uses one of my open source Android libraries without providing any attribution to me lol.
I've also seen accusations that this whole "Large Action Model" is a fraud and the services it can used were hard-coded into the device. If true, this whole thing is a scam.

I think smart watch have things like heart rate, blood pressure, more accurate step counting, fitness tracking and etc which smart phone don't have but it's also the sole reason I don't own smart watch, way too much personal critical data send to big corporate.

in principle it should not, as the LAM and LLM at the core of it's actions and responses is hosted in the cloud

I think this was only bad because their biggest feature that made this thing so popular just doesn't exist in the launch version. L.A.M was supposed to be a game changer and do things you can't (yet) do on a smartphone run chatbot. It had nothing to do with hardware, but rather lower level access to the software then your typical phone will allow.
That being said, I'm not an R1 owner. But I'm sad to see it having turned out this way.
