They only have vowels like "e" and syllables like "de". So they literally can't say "connected" without major English training. They assume it has to be something like "co-ne-ku-ta-du". Those are the syllables that have in their languages.

Likely because the lady was reading English, the schwa got appended to the end of the word connected, thus making the UH sound. Just a guess, anyway. I'm not a linguist nor do I speak Mandarin Chinese.
