I am so glad you did this video. I've kept snowballs for about 8 years on and off, currently have a growing colony. I always wondered why they weren't more popular. Out of all the neos I have raised, the snowballs are my all time favorite. If I could only keep one type, they would be the one, Thanks for showing them some love.
My snowballs have taken a lot and keep on going. So easy and tough.
Just bought me some snowballs. Can’t wait
Awesome 👍
These look awesome !! Your passion has won me over .. I have decided to set up a 32 gallon flex tank as a shrimp tank …. How many shrimp do you think would be the limit on this size of tank ( planning ahead ).. once set up and cycled I would like to order some snow balls from you … great job
Thank you. A 32 gallon tank can hold over 1000 shrimp. No need to worry about having too many, they will breed up until they either quit having enough resources (food) or until water parameters go bad. Basically you feed based on what your maintenance is. If you want tons of shrimp that you dont mind doing the extra work for you feed more and do more water changes which is what I do. If you want an easy more hands off approach feed less with less water changes but you will end up with less shrimp.
Good timing. I bought my first group of snowballs just last week. I wasn't sure I was going to like them as no photos of them have ever really thrilled me but wanted to start a tank with a different colour of neos and with the limited availability of shrimp in Aus, I bought some black substrate and once the tank was established, some snowballs. It didn't take long to fall in love with them though. They are super active and fun to watch..
Yeah, they're pretty cool. They seem to be a bit more active, a bit more hardy, and a bit more prolific. Their white really stands out on black substrate and lots of green plants.
@@MarkShellyAquatics my one piece of advice as a new snowball owner - don't freak out when you see white shells. After I had them for a few days, I spotted a dead shrimp. No big deal, it can happen particularly after being in the mail for a few days, new environment, etc but still disappointing. I go to take the corpse out to find it is just a moult husk! With my blues, reds, yellows and tangerines, I was never mistaken between a live shrimp and a moult husk but for the snowballs I sure was at first and am quickly becoming more adept at spotting the difference. No losses in my tank yet but a few moult husks that have given me pause to investigate.
@@garthantash lol yeah, a good clean molt can look like a dead one.
I started to see the appeal of the snowball morph when I saw a few in a nice manicured nano setup with black substrate and moss. They pop really well and have an elegance to them you wouldn't get from a bunch of Glass Shrimp or even amanos. They are one-of-a-kind in the hobby if ever any invertebrate was.
Snowballs have been a lot of fun. Always prolific and very hardy even compared to other neos.
skittles tank looking good!!
Thank you 😊 The snowballs really pop in there.
dope thumbnail mr shelly
👍
Idk what it is , I’ve never been into shrimp but something about your passion makes me wanna get some lol
I do like them a lot lol 😆
Love the Snowballs! Shared to fishtubers notifications and TN FISH MAFIA!
Thank you Bob 😊
Beautiful shrimp. Just picked up 8 today. So stoked. 2 berried, 4 saddled and 2 males heh. Should see 100s soon
Snowballs have always bred like crazy for me. Whenever I sale a bunch when tank starts getting full, there is always a wave of babies to replace them.
@@MarkShellyAquatics amazingballs
It be cool to see you get together some of the orders !
Ive had several people suggest that to me lately. Will be a video coming soon.
@@MarkShellyAquatics nice! My shipment should be here today
Now you're just making me think about setup another NEO tank, the Snowballs do look cool ... 😃
Lol spreading my addiction lol 😆
amaazing shrimp. Just curious but why put the brick in front of the filter?
Its what holds the filter in place, and the plecos like them.
I like them but they never sell when I have them in the shop
I go months without selling any at all then bam 50 in a week lol. Weird how they do that.
@@MarkShellyAquatics I’m definitely going to set up more shrimp tanks when I get time
Got some awesome blue rilli today
How many Snowball shrimps I can have in 10 gallon? Is it ok to have them with Amano shrimp together?
Not sure about amanos, but snowballs are just neos, so same as any other nep shrimp. You can have 100s in a 10g tank
Curious what happens if you breed a bluevelvet with them and curious what brand of wafers do you give them
Not sure man, never have done it before, try it out and let me know 👍
hey Mark, what kinda moss are those? i'm trying to grow it like that thick
It is pilo moss
Hey man I think there might be something wrong with the sound on this one
Seemed fine to me. Before videos go live I watch them on my phone and on my tv screen home entertainment system, all seems ok.
I think the problem you are having is the 4k version is probably still processing. Bit behind this week with youtube. Been working on my next expansion, but not making a video of me decluttering and selling/giving away my possessions to make room for more tanks lol.
@@MarkShellyAquatics ahhhh ok it's fixed now lol
Snowball shrimps breed like cherry shrimps?
They are cherry shrimp. While a slighly different subspecies they are still Neocaridina and will breed with all cherry shrimp.
I massaged your website and asked a ? And never gotten a response yet it’s been a week now
Never got it, I answer all my emails several times a day. You can email me directly markshelly@ymail.com, sometimes I think the forms on the website can be a bit buggy
Are you Chris? Just found an email in my spam folder. From about a week ago, not sure why or how it got caught by spam filter.
I was wondering how many of each color shrimp/ male female you get when you order Skittle shrimp I was going to order 2 of the 20
Just trying to get tanks set up right so they don’t die I have watched soo many of your videos I started from the beginning videos from 4 years ago
@@lilMagAtWork69 My skittles is just random scoops of whatever is in there at that time. You will get enough males/females to start a colony out of 20 random shrimp. But no guarantees on color or males and females. Anything from wilds to perfect shrimp. Lots of really nice shrimp born in there since even my culls are pretty decent and have good genetics.
ive managed to get 4 of these , but at least 3 have saddles they are very elusive so not sure if i have a male .if i use a red cherry male can i cull them back to clear or would a wild or red rilli male be better ?
You would probably get a mix of whites, reds, and wilds, and maybe something interesting like a rili. Never really purposely mixed snowballs with others on purpose, try it and find out. 👍
@@MarkShellyAquatics thanks for the quick reply
Hello Mark, some of my yellow goldenbacks bred with greens produced snowballs or clear shrimps. Which line do these snowballs really came from?
@ray-antraya4880 snowballs are their own thing and related close to blue pearl, blue pearls are just snowballs with little tint of blue. Greens make lots of culls, I get a few clear/whitish culls in my greens too, but they're not snowballs, just culls.
@@MarkShellyAquatics Thank you brother. -love from Philippines
