- Is Disneyland BACK!? I ask this question in light of the return of Fantasmic and what that means to the overall state of well being of Disneyland. How we FEEL about Disneyland. Just part of the larger Disneyland picture that we'll discuss as tour every land and every attraction as part of our State of Disneyland report.

I don't know what you did before this, just grateful you've found your calling. You're excellent at this, I enjoy all of your shows but State of is by far my favorites. Disneyland, DCA, and now it seems you're working in Universal and Knott's. You truly are meant for this, cheers my friend. It would be an honor to one day meet you and maybe swap Disneyland stories over a cold one. I was actually in the park with my daughter on this day who will be taking the reigns very soon. We were sitting on a bench as you were coming up Main Street, you were suddenly mobbed by several fans wanting photos. Your videos are closely watched by Park operations and taken very seriously according to her. Someday when you're not obviously so busy shooting or already surrounded by fans I'll stop and shake your hand . Enjoy Tonight my friend.
I have been here at Disneyland yesterday and today. The crowds are enormous. I feel like Disney kinda screwed up regarding crowd management. It also doesn’t help when rides than never required lightning lanes got them, plus having all of critter country & Haunted Mansion shut down. Seriously poor planning Disney. 👎🏻 p.s. the CMs are being overworked.
2:09 , hearing the Main Street music, the shops, and the people, never fails to almost make me shed a tear. Really wish I lived in Anaheim, and had a magic key annual pass. Greetings again, from Vancouver, Canada 🇨🇦.
I'm also from Vancity, and it's rough being a disney fan a country away 😭 just getting a direct flight down there for a decent price sucks unless you want to fly into LAX but who wants to fly into LAX....

I personally AM a fan of them holding back and then releasing reservations of all types because it’s more fair.. ppl can have a chance at different times. Makes much more sense than releasing it all at once early on and never having another chance
When the reservation system is gone, then I will consider Disney back. I know it looks like the reservation system is going nowhere, but it needs to go away to really be back. (Just my humble opinion).

You're right. I worked in a ticket office at a sports and entertainment complex. ANY ticket system can be manipulated. Any place that sells tickets to anything can be manipulated.
Fresh Baked dropped off my algorithm for no discernible reason. Hopefully binge watching the last ten days will help me fix that! (200 thou around the corner, bout time!)

Yes I have seen youtubers out there bashing Tiana's Adventure, and a good majority probably do want it to fail... but I think it is more animosity towards Disney taking something as classic as Splash Mountain and changing it. (They seem to do that quite often lately in general). I grew up with splash mountain and my 7yr old will never experience it which makes me a little sad, but I will give Tianna's a chance, well there is no choice in the matter... either you ride the ride or not.
Here's a fun fact: credit card delinquencies are almost at 2008 levels. That's why the crowds are low. Credit card bills are coming due and folks are broke.
At the same time people can use credit cards to buy Disneyland passes and merchandise so I'm not sure that's valid. Disneyland has increased my credit card balance that's for sure.
And 2 main attractions are closed some people won’t pay top dollar to not experience everything.
I would go at least once a year and maybe Halloween Oogie Boogie but cannot afford it anymore coming from Arizona.
All I hear is blah blah complaining about this and that ,oh everything is expensive. I was there yesterday and there was alot of ppl paying and enjoying thier life’s. Those are the ones who are willing to pay for the experience and those are the ones Disney target. All this complaining doesn’t get you anywhere in life. Oh well some work hard for the finer things and some just cry about it.

I like when the parks are not too crowded and walkable! It’s not fun when it’s too busy- before when you usually are talking about is Disneyland back I thought you meant that it wasn’t as crowded and that it being very crowded was a good thing, but maybe you were talking about the general vibe and magic of Disneyland? I hope so!!
The way you’re describing the dining reservations - either the dynamic is totally different at DL than WDW. Or you’re not too active with them regularly.
Very common for people to book, hold, and drop within the week of- prior to the cancellation policy…. As they’re either on their vacation or have a better idea what they want to do once they’re closer to the date
DL and WDW are very different parks with very different clientele. Over half of DL revenue comes from locals, hunting reservations, booking when things are first released is more of a sport here. FL only has 10-15% rev from locals. The culture is different. Cancellations and releasing those seats is unique in CA. The DL guests are 30 minutes away, why would they cancel?

It's odd that May was so bleak for passholders considering we were always hearing how relaxed it was in every video until just this week. Seemed to be low volume even around May the 4th.

I was at California Adventure on the 20th, and it was packed!
A lot of Utah schools ended last week and I know a lot of Utahns were headed to Disneyland this week. That may be why it's booked. I blame Getaway Today! 😂
Any possibility that another factor could be summer staffing increasing as schools are out.

Why are wait times so off today? How do they update wait times?
Everybody said it was nuts on Tuesday.. like so bad that the single rider line at the Matterhorn was an hour and other ride waits were 2 hours. They said it wasn’t fun and was uncomfortable it was so full

It’s just a way to get views. Disneyland being “back” is just blogger hyperbole and is totally subjective.
Disneyland has been different (in some people’s opinion) and that has been a negative thing for them. Now they have changed their opinions, based on recent park changes and they don’t seem to understand that the only thing that is “back” is their personal opinion of what the park is offering.

David, regarding the frequent confusion about why tickets are available on unexpected (read: busy) days: it seems clear they’re simply holding tickets available for day-of release right? Wouldn’t that almost always be the case so no matter how “busy” it gets they can always still release some tickets and avoid selling out frequently?
While you were going through the tip board and talking about the low wait times, i just have to wonder if it’s due to the fantasmic viewing packages. for example my family would be paying $175 for priority viewing so maybe that’s keeping families from purchasing genie plus? but then you would think that the standby queues would be longer on their own so maybe i’m totally wrong.
The crowds are horrible to me. Chaos like that makes my anxiety go through the roof :(
I understand some folks believe it's "politics" to create a ride around a Black character. I respectfully disagree. For a long, long, long, time, all the rides that had characters were around white characters (Peter Pan, Snow White, Pinocchio, Alice in Wonderland, etc.) and no one thought that was "politics." Suddenly when there is a ride based on a Black charscter, it's "politics" but that makes no sense. Why shouldn't Black children have one or more character rides where the character looks like them? It's great when any and every person can see something of themselves in Disney characters. I love that in the last several years, Disney has recognized the importance of representation - bravo, Disney!
I don’t think anyone is upset that there is a ride centered around a black character. It’s that Song of the South was not racist and a few people bullied Disney into thinking it was. They should have kept Splash Mountain and added Tiana so we could have both.
@@janetpatri8786 I understand. If some people believed it was racist, they are of course able to have that opinion. Maybe they were/are right? Maybe not? I'm no expert, for sure. But if any Black people were or are saying "this is racist" then I think it's appropriate to listen to them. I can't ever know what it's like to walk around as a black person in the US. I've never been followed around a store or stopped while driving just because of the color of my skin, for instance, but every Black friends I have (and it's not a small number) - has had those experiences. It doesn't hurt me to listen to what Black people are saying - and I do listen to them and their experiences. And I believe them.
Of course you can believe as you believe, as well.
I think Splash Mountain was past it's prime and needed a refresh and update regardless and I LOVE what I've seen of the new inside and theme! It's so colorful and gorgeous!

Groundhog's Day!
I cringe at the packed park. I love the reservation system. We have been at the park many times as last week. I used my MK to the max 😊! With college, highschool, junior highschool and elementary schools getting out. I'll stay away from my beloved Disneyland.
Being at the park when it's at capacity is not fun in any way. I always wonder when they say folks are hurting for money and then I see all of these people paying high prices to get in. I guess folks are really taking advantage of the SoCal discounts.

You are correct at some point the rollercoaster in frontier land is scheduled for track replacement. When they did that with space mountain it was closed two years.
They will have the Haunted Mansion back it just needs all of next month and then half of August is when they will uninstall Haunted Mansion and then reinstall the Haunted Mansion Holiday so don’t give up quite yet just one whole month and then they are finally done, also don’t believe in the rumor about the Haunted Mansion please

Not only do I not see a lot of children except at Toontown, but I also do not see a lot of gray-headed people. Please doublecheck me. It seems the reason Disneyland isn't as full as usual is that they lost guests both young and old. It appears to be teens through 50 somethings. Grandpa and grandma aren't bringing the young'uns to Disneyland anymore?

Nobody would be upset about a Tiana based ride being added to the parks.Tiana deserves a ride, a restaurant, a show. There was no need to bring politics into this. Dude: It’s very obvious from your video that the park is no where near capacity. The crowds are sparse at best. The Disney Stock just tanked. Peltz has left the sinking ship. I’m taking my money out too before it’s too late.

How do you know what factors are at play as to attendance. Disney has the data. Break it down. Annual pass holders, purchased tickets, employee passes, comp passes.
If you can't see that basic data it is anecdotal and of no value for comparison.
No because entertainment is being cut left and right. No Golden Horseshoe, no TLT, Fantasy Faire is only 4 days a week, Dr. Strange is closing next month… more to come. Go to city hall and make your voices heard.

You seem like someone in a bad marriage (Disney) and will put up with anything to keep it going. Disney is damaging its reputation and it will eventually hurt its bottom line.

So sad. And I grew up in Disneyland all my life. It’s not the same. I hate the fact that they are working on all these expansions to the park and they aren’t even touching tomorrow land and fixing up the areas first that really need it.

Galaxys edge is literally a 14 acre art display and you've clearly never been or youd appreciate how well built it is. But no keep whining because rides are all that matters. I was there a few weeks ago. Disneyland is terrible now. The magic is gone. Too many people. Every thing is so overpriced. So sad. Disneyland died when Covid hit. And I was there when it did.
Cool story. I’m assuming you’re not planning to return, and that means that you’re going to leave Disneyland for those who still enjoy it.
