Great tips Kirsty! I'm not as precise with filing so I can never get all the lifting without feeling like I'm causing more damage with the continuous filing. I just soak it off lol
I will always drop everything to watch these videos. I do my own nails at home and have for about 5 years but it has really been in the last year that I have started making leaps and bounds on the quality of my nails. You have taught me SO much about structure and understanding the art of nail enhancements! Thank you for always putting out fun quality educational videos! 💕
Anyone who has ever had a strand of hair slid under even chipping nail polish knows how practical putting the glue on the back of that lifting nail was!
I am still learning and quite often have lifting no matter what I do. Seeing this is encouraging as now I know how to repair instead of redo the whole nail
Thank you kirsty for this, we wasnt really taught or shown exactly how to deal with lifting just a case of being told its the same as an infill but file the lifting away which didnt really help in showing how not to cause damage or more lifting.
This literally just happened to me a week ago. I caught my pointer finger (of course on my dominant hand) and the back half lifted! OUCH! But I got home, I used a sharp edged bit on my efile, and cut into my nail just before the lifting started- and when I got it close enough to my natural nail I switched to a hand file- and then filled as I normally would preping as normal- and it still took 2 days to feel normal after all that!! She is right- with everything you do, you can feel it come off more and more and it hurts!
Same here. I have been waiting for someone to do nails of a peacock feather on the hole set of hands. I think it would be so amazing and stunningly gorgeous 💞
There is a couple of things my teacher did not teach me. This video explains the use of acrylics. Thank you love watching the videos of nails. Yes I am Native American Cosmetologist. I love to do nails the most.
When I have a lifted nail, by the time I've filed all the lifted part away, there's not much left and so much natural nail is exposed, and it seems like it's almost easier to just sculpt a new one. But that's just a personal preference for me.
I am so glad that I watched this Kirsty as I didn’t even think of germs I’m a diabetic and sometimes blood gets under my nails I never thought about it before Thankyou so much
I love your videos! I just replaced a nail that popped off using your nail hack using a nail tip and a dual form. Worked perfectly! Your video on liquid to powder ratio and how to apply the bead to the nail was such a help since I have always struggled with product application. I am now getting into the habit of wiping my brush after putting the bead on the nail and before patting and pressing the product into place. Thanh you so much for clear and concise instructions!
ok so its been almost a year of watching naio nails for me and that leopard is what first caught my attention, then i just couldn't stop watching! what you do Kirsty is AMAZING!!! oh and this video has helped me with my own nails as they love to lift no matter what the salon does. so hopefully i can go more than 5 days without lifting.
TIP: I was always told to FILE BEHIND ALL THE LIFTED AREAS with your hand file/e-file........ then the lifted area just flakes away and you do not over file the natural nail.
Natalie De Biase Sorry to wade in but saw your comment and thought I could help... i use a safety bit to file down the bulk of the entire nail, as a rule going over the same area no more than three times at once, going back to it after doing the same in other parts. As the acrylic becomes thinner this rule of three goes to two, then thinner again, it goes to 1. Once you can see lighter sections which indicate lifting I go just behind where that lighter area starts and file along the line and POP the lift should just separate and pop off. Once you’re well versed with this you could alternatively file the bulk of the nail down with safety but then swap to a diamond cross bit and use the top edge of the bit at an almost 60 degree angle to cut into the acrylic along this same lighter line just behind the lift to cut it quickly but be SO careful because this is a sharp edge hence cutting well and as soon as it breaks through the acrylic you have to stop so as not to cut into the natural nail. I highly recommend getting some e file training if you haven’t already with a local salon, Young Nails are the best in the biz. Good luck! 😀
Have you ever had a client with nails that have detached from the nail bed? If so, did you do their nails? What extra precautions did you take and what was the overall procedure that you used?
Outstanding fix Kirsty! This vid tackled a ton of issues I'll be saving for reference. Thank you so much! I'll cry a bit when you have to take off the leopard it's such masterpiece, seriously!!
I have been binge watching your videos today and I can't tell you how awesome they are!!! I went to cosmetology school back in 2004 and nails wear my things for sure! I got to say though most of what I learned about doing a great set of nails was through trial and error. I didn't feel like school taught us much. I took extra nail classes outside of school and practiced on myself as much as I could. I would say I was pretty good at doing a good set of nails, but speed was my down fall. I was slow and got about as fast as 1 hour 1/2 for a full set of French pink and white, which was awesome in my book. But not to the employers I worked for even though. They wanted you done in 40-50 minutes heaven forbid some wants a fun glammed up set of nails. Anyways I've been out of the loop of the nail world for thr last 10 years because I made a career move to professional motherhood and homemaker and home educator of my children. But watching your videos is reminding me of the passion I have for beautiful nail and creating art on a small space. I have gleaned tons of knowledge from you I never know or came across all those years ago. Your work is amazing and its even more amazing that you share it will all of us on UA-cam! I can't thank you enough for taking time out of you life to do all that you do to make the videos happen. Thanks so much! Ps I love the sliver Sparkle hair strands in your hair from your previous video very pretty!
Kristy I live in canada I was born and raised to 13 years old then brought to Canada ì love seeing you hearing your lovely accent you do amazing nails I love watching you work if I lived in England I would come to you for my nails keep doing nails my name is una
Thank you so much for this video! I have wondered if there was a proper way to be doing this. I do my own nails, have no formal training and do not do anyone else's of course. I noticed you strictly used a regular nail file. Is that because it helps to prevent further lifting? I have always used my efile and am wondering now if I should stop doing that.
I truely enjoy your videos and they are very informative also. I must say watching them helped me so much in proper acrylic application and how to form the beads, their size and such. Please keep up the good work.
What country is this that so many women wear their nails this extreme (LY BEAUTIFUL!!) I’m in the USA and there’s definitely bold nail wearers, I loved it when I was younger but I NEVER see nails like this here, or even on tv. I wish I could find the talent, I’d absolutely pay!!
I comand you for doing this video! I myself just take the nail off after it starts lifting, I don't have the patience or the skills to fix it lol but I might try after watching this. Thanks for the tips
OMG! I'm not a pro, only doing nails to myself but I'm really proud btw :D I always thought this way of repairing is a "cheap work" and I never told anybody how I fix my lifted nails :D I was so lazy to rebuild the whole nail, that's why I thought why can not I remove only the part that has lifted?? And it works not only for me as I saw :D Thank you :D
Kristy what do you do for the nail fungus/ germs that grow from nails lifting and water getting next to natual nail? Uuugg im not experienced but learning and i did a dumb thing by not doing as your video shows. I didnt file enough away and filled the nail and wore them thinking i had done a good job. The things we learn in hindsight.
I would love for you to do my nails. I have pachyonychia congenita and no salons will do my nails. I’ve taught myself to do free form acrylic and they turn out ok but take 3 hours to do.
Hi Chrissy I noticed when you use the the foils you don't put foil glue on you just clean the back and you stick it on top of the gel that seems to look better and work better is that why you do that? What do you charge not you but in a salon what do you charge to fix a nail like that because that's a lot of work that that's my problem in charging it seems like I give most my stuff away for free then I don't have money to replace stuff so if you would please help me . you charge for the repairs on that now thank you so much I learned so much from you I practice everything you do. I just appreciate you so much with all your videos. Besides being amazing nail tech and artist that you are . you are above and beyond amazing teacher thank you
Hi , I once got an intrapped airbubble in my nail and it lifted slightly and water and germs got inside. I got a moldy spot that would not go away! I had to strip my nails and let them grow out so I could cut that green spot off! Disgusting I'll have you know! 😂
Thanks so much for this! I was not sure what to do if this occurred now I know! I e learned a lot from your tutorials I am waiting to do my own nails u til I have mastered these techniques, I currently only practice on my practice hand and e@ch time I get better. I hope to be able to get my own set on by Christmas as I’ve been learning for over a year now online, I wish I could attend nail school unfortunately as I’m disabled (I was hit by a drunk driver in 2005 which left me with brain damage, seizures, chronic migraines and caused me to lose my entire pancreas, spleen, and gall bladder in 2009 due to internal organ damage I sustained from that wreck. I have no immune system so I can’t go to the nail salon. In fact that is why I started to do my own nails. I was getting a mani pedi at my local salon and even though I went during the week while children were in school the salon people had their sick child in the back which I didn’t know until too late. I contracted his stomach virus as did my dad who was getting his feet done too he was sick for 2 days I was hospitalized for 8 days and sick for over 3 months I lost 37lbs during that bout of illness suffered numerous seiUres and flat lined twice while in the hospital from this simple stomach virus it was then that I realized I couldn’t do the normal things others did anymore and as the 16th person to have the surgery to remove those vital organs and the 1st who had brain damage and seizures so the drs had no idea that could happen either, I was in essence their lab rat. So now I stay home on my family’s rural farm well away from the dangers of the outside world. If not for my family I would’ve died yrs ago so I’m very lucky to be here and I hope that by being their lab rat I was able to help the new patients to not have to go through what I have. Thanks for your posts they cheer me up and make my day I really enjoy learning from you!
CrazyAunt CC wow, I'm glad you're still alive and I hope you are still able to enjoy life. Learning to do nails so you can still have them is a wonderful thing! Sometimes looking pretty helps us feel good. Is there any possibility of you have transplant organs to replace the ones you lost? My brother works in transplant medicine at UMM and he was on the team that did the face transplant last year. I believe it was number 22 in the entire world and the most complete one so far. They did it on a soldier who was in an explosion and he had great results. That was a special case of course, but they do organs routinely. Usually solid organs like kidneys are pretty easy, I know pancreas and spleen and liver can be harder due to the nature of the tissue, but they are doing great things at UMM and many other hospitals as well.
I usually drill a trench (avoiding the natural nail) with my efile where the lift is, use the nippers to take off the lifted area that is no longer attached because of the trench. then file it flush.... much faster than using the hand file.
Suzie I love your nail work I wished you lived around Stratford ontario canada I would love to get my nails done by you I watch your videos all the time
As I'm self learning, I have a question. I use Acrygel, I file to remove any lifting ( which isn't a lot now I've been practising more). Is this ok to do with Acrygel or should I be removing the whole thing every time? Thanks in advance xx
Question forgive me if it's already been asked but with that much lifting what are the benefits to repairing that nail vs just filing down and redoing it.... why not create a new nail?
Great video, may I ask what grit hand file would you use to remove lifting, and would you down grade the files grits as the lifting minimises??? Cheers from Australia 🌺🐨
I was repairing a lift the other day and it seems that as we file the lifted area away, more product lift with it, so annoying! I did manage to fix and keep the nail but it was a pain!
I want to know what to do if the nail underneath gets broken or cracked across the nail. Or if it lifts so far that it’s not really salvageable, what can we do to still salvage it. Can we just put acrylic underneath and stick it back on? That’s the kind of stuff I want to know. Because I don’t want to have to go to my nail tech and spend money every time my nails lift bc I’m very prone to lifting and it happens a lot, like right now! 4 of my nails are super lifted. Ones lifted almost all the way to the tip and the free edge is ripped too. So I want to know what we can do at home to help keep the nails we have on versus making a new nail. Tips anyone?
I just love you and your videos, and your style is always so cool! You're really funny and I've learned A LOT watching your channel, thanks so much. 💙🙃
I have 4 fingers which seem to lift no matter what, and no matter of what seems to adhere acrylic to them.. This is roughly how Ive treated them often I will nipper off some of the main bulk of the lift because it seems the only bit that properly sticks is on the nail beyond the finger!
You should do a vid of you teaching cameraman to do an acrylic nail
🙌🙌🙌Like this comment if you guys would like it to happen 🙌🙌🙌

yes yes yes!!!@@NaioNailsOfficial

Great tips Kirsty! I'm not as precise with filing so I can never get all the lifting without feeling like I'm causing more damage with the continuous filing. I just soak it off lol
LongHairPrettyNails same!!!
Me too! I chase the lifting all over the damn nail!
I agree!
I'm same but totally makes sense to me now to hold the nail while filing.... Game changer
Line eraser

I am still learning and quite often have lifting no matter what I do. Seeing this is encouraging as now I know how to repair instead of redo the whole nail
The part about stabilizing the nail so it doesn't keep lifting when you file, is something I needed to know :) So thank you :)
Thank you kirsty for this, we wasnt really taught or shown exactly how to deal with lifting just a case of being told its the same as an infill but file the lifting away which didnt really help in showing how not to cause damage or more lifting.
Loved this, please do more on problem nails, either the product or the natural nail itself.

OMG!!!!! I do that when my nails have lifted. I'm glad to see you doing this. Now I don't feel like I'm lazy. 😂😂😂😂
I would love if you made the profile of a 3d peacock that flows over the whole set.

Nice nail "surgery", Kirsty. Perfect and flawless repair.
Great educational video for me. My nails lift often because I have oily nail beds. Tysm for this tutorial! You rock Kirsty! 😍💅

I think there was even a tutorial on that on this channel, about 5-6 years ago. Maybe that tutorial is still online.
Thats how i do it with an efile. U can see the outline of the lift and ill just file along that line and the lifted part will pop right off .
@@sugahgarden1961 I'm looking for info on e-filing the lifted areas, can you explain how you do it exactly and what bits you use? Thanks 😀

This is the first time I have seen you without any extensions on. X
Looks like it’s time to shoot another video of Kirsty doing a new set on herself.
Yessssss! Christmas nails!
Bacteria Party, makes me think of the movie "Osmosis Jones". The germs had the whole nightclub jumping.

Lol @ Kristy's face when Adam said she wasn't that delicate 😅😅😅😅
I'm allergic to the acrylic liquid so I'm trying to learn gel now and you're still the best teacher Kristy! From your biggest fan!

Kirsty is from Stoke on trent in the UK
Wondered what you did on other nails around fabulous leopard, beautiful
I comand you for doing this video! I myself just take the nail off after it starts lifting, I don't have the patience or the skills to fix it lol but I might try after watching this. Thanks for the tips
Hi Kristy, is there a reason why you hand file over the e-file? Wouldn’t it be faster with the e-file?
Would you recommend soaking a full set off if there has been lifting on more than one nail? Thanks love your channel
Do we get a video of Kirsty doing her nails again soon? *fingers crossed*
Thank you because I stopped watching this channel over a year ago. I don't think there's a new technique on fixing lifting
OMG! Fantastic as usual! I don’t learn things like that at college!! 👍🏻☺️
Wait.....we're NOT supposed to superglue them when they lift? Uh, who knew.
You can temporarily till your technician can fix it or if you do them yourself filing it down is quicker than doing a whole new nail
When do you just take all the nail off instead of filing so much off
After launching a gem into my eye by removing with the nippers, I always wear my glasses now! 🤓👀
Informative as usual😊 I learn more here than I do any where else thanks a bunch💖
Your videos are always very helpful 💕 thanks so much for sharing your work!
Just curious about the e-file you use... it seems so powerful
It's in the video bio/info
I would love for you to do my nails. I have pachyonychia congenita and no salons will do my nails. I’ve taught myself to do free form acrylic and they turn out ok but take 3 hours to do.
sgrundyuk what is that?
At this point, when so much of the natural nail is exposed, I'd want a new nail. But, I guess then you wouldn't have a tutorial.
Kirsty, what would you have done if you found fungus under the lifted bit ?
Do you have a video of this nail set before the break? I absolutely love that nail.
Hi Chrissy I noticed when you use the the foils you don't put foil glue on you just clean the back and you stick it on top of the gel that seems to look better and work better is that why you do that? never thought to clean the foil before application - great tip!
Hi Kirsty, I like your personality so much. Love your art and appreciate your skills. Keep going on! I eagerly wait for your videos. Thank you.
Fantastic work! Looks flawless.
It's official you're a real pro at what you do....I could never be like you 🤔🤔😅😅...
Welcome back Kirsty have missed your vids..
Hi , I once got an intrapped airbubble in my nail and it lifted slightly and water and germs got inside. I got a moldy spot that would not go away! I had to strip my nails and let them grow out so I could cut that green spot off! Disgusting I'll have you know! 😂
Åsa Möllestål if that happens again, I’d soak in 99% alcohol and buff lightly
Åsa Möllestål ahh!! Glad it didn’t get bad for you! How can we prevent air bubbles??
Teatree
Soak it once a day in equal parts warm/hot water and vinegar, even works thru acrylic. Gone in 3 or 4 days
@@dawndelosmuertos4025 It is not a fungus. It's a bacteria called Pseudomonas.
Would acrygel be the same process, or would you have to soak the whole thing off and start again?
I so want to see you do your ocean nails for the cruise with the nail stars!
Kirstie, I love this look. Would you say the same technique essentially is the same for gel extensions?
I absolutely LOVE watching your videos. You are so talented. xxx
Just love kirsty and her work .😊

what nail drill do you use ir are you using
I was repairing a lift the other day and it seems that as we file the lifted area away, more product lift with it, so annoying!
Would love to see a video on poly gel nails!!
Yaaaaass... camera quality!💅🏿❤
I just love you and your videos, and your style is always so cool! You're really funny and I've learned A LOT watching your channel, thanks so much. 💙🙃
For the amount that you had to file off would it have been just as easy/fast to take the whole nail off and start again?
What kind of E-file head did you use in this video Kirsty?

I appreciate this video so much! I’ve watched it four times today and rescued my left thumb nail while I watched lmao 😂
My teeth would of been under that and pulled off lol. she did good keeping it on to be fixed. Thanks for sharing x
Are you going to do some Xmas nails on yourself, can we have a video pretty please
This is a educational video, thanks for this one
You make it look so easy. Thanks for this! 💕
I have 4 fingers which seem to lift no matter what, and no matter of what seems to adhere acrylic to them.. This is roughly how Ive treated them often I will nipper off some of the main bulk of the lift because it seems the only bit that properly sticks is on the nail beyond the finger!
How do you fix lifting on Polygel/Acrygel?
What do you if the lifting is on the free edge of the nail?
Whats the name of the very first bit u used ?
Hi hun. Very beautiful work 👍👍💞
I'm with Lollowall. I would love to see you do a set of nails of a peacock feathers on someone. That would be so amazing and stunningly gorgeous. 💞😘
