    hey, it is silica gel, when wet, pour it in a pan and put it in an oven at @ 250 degrees f for about 2 hrs,and it is reusable. i am a chemist and this is advice for you to save $$$$$.

      Excellent. I'm not a chemist, but definitely a geek who lives in Lauderdale and can really use this stuff, despite the constant A/C. Gonna mess around with a few things for this, but glad you rang in !!!! Trying to keep the humidity below 55 or so.

      I wish someone could figure out how much the electric bill for this would be against just buying a new damp rid tub.
      If only they could be dried out in the sun instead.
      By the way, do you poor the water out first or pour everything into the pan?

    My original intention for this humidifier was to use it for plants that require high moisture levels. After using it in my room, ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxtD9aJ2m6GU-X1IChQxjn9l31K1A7Kpwj however, I think that's where it is going to stay in the fall and winter season at least. The increased humidity in my room made the room warmer and more comfortable. I had first ran the humidifier for 4 hours with the timer setting for it. After the first hour, I checked my room and can feel the difference. When the full 4 hours was up, I checked again and noticed that the humidifier was shut off as it is suppose to. The moisture level never seem to get passed 56/57%. I then let it run until all the water is used up, which it wasn't all used up. There are still some left in the base that you are not suppose to add water to. I filled up the water tank all the way again, being careful when removing it from the base. Some left over water may spill out. After putting it back on and setting the unit to auto, I let it operate. It didn't stop running, rather I don't know if it did at any point since I didn't check it regularly, for 24 hours after which the water in the tank ran out. The moisture reading never passed 56/57%, which may be a good thing for me. Being situated right next to my bed, the noise was not very noticeable with the occasional water gurgle from time to time as the unit ran.

    you can buy a cheap condense pump for humidifier ($50-$100) and it hook it up to the humidifier. It is very easy to hook up. You just connect the pump to the dehumifier with a PVC pipe or a small hose then the water will be discharged into the pump reservoir then once the water reaches a certain level the pump will empty the water for you.

    One thing you can do that may make it work even faster is have a fan in that same room pointed at the DampRid and then the moisture gets absorbed a lot quicker.

    This product works well and it comes in several sizes. It is set and forget. The only time I've experienced a negative is coming into contact with a wet collected product. I had the bag kit and when I removed it when it was filled I stabbed it with a knife and drained the " fluid" into a toilet so it didn't leak into my trash. Only to learn later that it jacked up my pocket knife blade big time. I cleaned it off but the chemicals it collected etchited and it jacked up my knife. Lesson learned! They work well and when full throw them away!!!! And never use them in a gun safe. Just a word to the wise, I sell a ton of them but don't use them with guns or keep safe metal products. Having said that I use them all over my home just don't mess with the collected liquid. Piece. ✌️

    I bought one today and I'm wondering if I'm using it properly. It's for a bedroom thay has an air conditioner unit blowing cold air. However, the air is still humidity around 60%. I'm hoping this DampRid can fix that. Should I temporarily turn off the AC?

    • @ReptilianLepton
      @ReptilianLepton 2 роки тому +4

      The AC is already dehumidifying your room - that is simply inherent to how ACs operate. So, turning off the AC would be counterproductive. If the humidity is still on the high end with the AC running you might need to service the AC, for example cleaning the coils or checking the compressor charge. However, 40-60% humidity is within the bounds of acceptable levels for most situations.

    How do you think it would work on odor absorption?

    • @ThreeStormFitness
      @ThreeStormFitness  6 років тому +1

      I think it helps musty odor control, but that's probably due to the fact that it's knocking down the humidity (aka stopping the source of the musty odor over time)
      I don't believe it has any direct odor control (if it does, it doesn't always work well. ..like the time I accidentally locked my cat in the gym overnight and he crapped on the floor).
      Also, damprid makes a separate product for odor absorption, which tells me that it's not one of this product's primary features.

    If you are getting a couple cans full of water often i would say your dehumidifier is working great. Just add a condensate pump and forget about it. You might be able to pump it out to your wifes garden and make that water beneficial

    It has a scent not a "smell". Smell is a verb.

    How do you know it works from the pail, darker? Heavier? Water in it?

    • @ThreeStormFitness
      @ThreeStormFitness  6 років тому +5

      Another commenter compared these tubs to diapers... Which was a disgustingly brilliant analogy.
      In short, they're heavier AND you can see the liquid... Just like a really full diaper :)

      LOL,, Im 58 yrs old and last time I saw a full diaper was when I was about 10 yrs old guarding my little cousins, I dont think back then it was catching much moisture 🤣

    You know what that most likely is? The same stuff they put in diapers. You could probably take a bunch of diapers and place them around the shop and do the same thing. 😄 Amazing what all is packaged in different ways and sold to us as a groundbreaking proprietary product.

      Three Storm Fitness 😄 Idk but I’ve seen them swell up to 4 times their size at swimming holes. I do think the damprid looks better and is easier to dispose of than a wet diaper though.

      Hey Sarina, mine stopped smelling in a matter of days, but they definitely had a mellow flowery odor to them...some people are weird about that, so I wanted to note it.
      Yeh, they aren't $30...I totally flaked on that (or got ripped off). Sorry for the confusion.

    Dehumidifiers save money on the long run. These get expensive pretty quick

    • @moses420

      12$ and they last for 6 months .. only way you'd save money is if you have solar power for your dehumidifier
