"We were allowed to travel freely" , you mean like the constitution says? Before Covid, Filipinos were thin and some skinny. Now, things are very different. Great job Rod.
I'm 6-3 and had one experience with a vhire. My wife and 4 members of her family were going from Akland to Iloilo. We waited for a van and then got on. I did not make it in the front seat so was forced into the cramped back. Then cargo was added and seats adjusted. It was ridiculous. I decided there was no way I would ride in those conditions. All 6 of us got off and we took the much slower bus. So glad we did.
At the ferry terminal I think the drivers have to pay a fee to the terminal to pick up passengers there so they charge more, even the tricycles. You could probably get a taxi to Ubay for 2500 once you get away from the terminal. It's a question of time vs. money. For someone who doesn't live there and is there for a few weeks the taxi may be a better option because it's going to get you there in under 2 hours vs. 4+ hours for the bus.
Good point. We were approached with high prices at the ferry terminal in Cebu City also until we walked a block past them and found a taxi willing to use the meter.
My wife had the same problem years ago, her family name is Pitulan but her birth certificate said Pitolan. That took a lot of time and effort to correct that. What you have nowadays is they issue the birth, marriage certificate etc unauthorized first for you to check. If all OK you hand it back and they sign, stamp etc so no more issues.
Thank you, this video had the info I needed. I’m about to travel from Dumaguete to Bohol and when I went to book the ticket online the site said you had to be double vaccinated which I am not. I thought maybe being the Philippines they just hadn’t got around to changing it and it seems that was right. Also great info at the end with the taxis ect, I always try to avoid those who first come to you because the price is usually incredibly inflated, even within the airports tourists are getting ripped off.
I've taken a multitude of RORO ferries on my island hopping motorcycle travels this year. Each port has had a different process. When returning to Cebu island from Negros Occidental I had to go to the Coast Guard station to get authorization to board the ferry. They wanted to see the motorcycle paperwork and my drivers licence and International drivers licence. I'm sure there was a fee, but I forget how much.
Thank you for the interesting video as always.. how long was the ferry ride? If at all possible I am never going to ride in a van with 19 people, I hope I do not have to.. can you imagine the stress on the tires and the suspension.. on the ferry I would definitely sit up top where I can see everything and I will always know where the light preservers are and be close to them..hehe.. if I did a lot of fairy traveling I would definitely invest in a personal life vest like my bassmasters life fest I had when I was fishing.. I wish the best for you and your girl and I will always be watching and learning and enjoying.. 👍👍 thanks 👍👍...ps . I was just thinking why did you not take the airplane instead of the ferry?👍👍😎🤗
The plane would land at the south tip of Panglao island, Bohol and then it would be a 30+ minute ride back to Tagbilaran City. The travel agent at the mall did not tell me about my options so I should have asked as the business class would have been better.
My Mom's home province, better take public transportation as renting vans has tourist prices. I usually take the plane to Bohol from Manila so taking an airport bus to Dao Terminal then bus to Candijay. It's definitely a lot cheaper than renting a van.
I have taken 1 day trips where the fee for van and driver was 8K for the day Thorlin. This 3 day trip ended up being 5 days with more cash travel. I had brought plenty ....but could run low as I didn't bring my debit card for cash and didn't want to get cash with my credit card.
Wow I checked some other routes online and it looks like the ferry prices are about 2x what the were four years ago. As with the buses, the air conditioned option may get very cold, particularly after dark.
Another great show wow the sea looked rough You know rod i been here in bohol now for 35 Months and not much happens on this island there's a woman that may be able to correct the typo on your wife's birth certificate saving you a return trip and next time let me pick you up i want to talk with you about many things
What a shambles Rod, regarding Arlenes birth certificate problem. Unreal. I don't think this would happen here in the West? Guess it's all been corrected, hopefully by now? Regards to you both, from us.
It is going to take a month or so to get it "fixed" Bob with Arlene needing to take another trip back to Ubay, Bohol with all of the documented evidence.
@@AmazingPhilippines1 ,., I always ask and agree on the prices before I go anywhere here in The Philippines, So there will be no dramas at the end of the trip. Even though I could afford it, it just makes me feel better not getting rip off.
@@AmazingPhilippines1 So instead of making millions as an financial consultant you blog and give this information for free. I think many will thank you someday.
Rod got triggered with the tourist fixer rates. They want your hotel to add a few hundred more. Drivers inside the terminal are not the best. Think in the end plane plane is easier.
Good overview Glad domestic travel is OK now. The Chinese are finally starting to push back from the tyrants. It is what it is with toilet seats lol. They get broken easily.

That was a bad decision on my part and my back is still complaining Matt.
Thank you sir, I will probably be taking this route in early Feb.
Good video Rod, just made it into Cebu city at 1am. I hit some bumps at quarantine but they were as helpful as they could be. Take care Rod.
Stay in touch Robert.
Wow that my province sir safe travels going to bohol
This video is very helpful Rod. Does OceanJet have a daily trip from Duma to Tagbilaran? Would you recommend the ferry for friends and family?
I think they do Jimbo, probably more than one that stops of in Tagbilaran on the way to Cebu City.
@@AmazingPhilippines1 Thank you Sir

I have even heard that sometimes they get the gender wrong. Crazy.

I think they have not updated their info as it shouldn't be vax requirement anymore Wes.

When we were returning to Cebu island from Negros Occidental last week all they wanted was our motorcycle paperwork.
Thanks for the tour and info!
Thanks James. Are you doing much traveling outside of Bacolod?
That trike fare was so cheap , with inflation and exchange rate I would take it in a heartbeat. Enjoy the lifestyle in Bohol👍👍
He was waiting for a 3rd passenger but gave me a deal at 100 to go with 2 only, usually 35 pesos each Harold. Very cheap.

Good video Rod. I have paid p18k before for a van for just me... But that was to go 250 miles or 450 kilometers. P4k was too much for that ride.

I did not understand what the 4K was for.. was that 4K for a ride for just the two of you from the ferry terminal to you a hotel in ubay? Thanks 👍👍
Yes, 4000 pesos for 2 of us to rent the van and driver to Ubay Richard.
Wow I checked some other routes online and it looks like the ferry prices are about 2x what the were four years ago. As with the buses, the air conditioned option may get very cold, particularly after dark.
I think many businesses are trying to recoup some of their loses and the higher price of fuel.
Do you need pill for sea sickness!! or its smooth sailing?
it can get rough on windy days but usually not too bad my experience
We usually take the SuperCat from Cebu to Tagbilaran to visit family. The faster, the better!
I agree. I have taken a couple of "slow" ferries as that is what was available at the time.
pila pamasahe from seaport to bus terminal ma'am?
I've ridden the V-hire Rod. I know how the sardines feel! lol
LOL! That was not a good ride but I was in a bit of a hurry Don.

Thanks for the offer Michael. We should get together when our paths cross.
That lady wanting to get you to choose the 4000pesos plan very pushy! Rod you handled her firmly and polity.
I am finding this at many ferry terminals Douglas, very aggresive salespeople.
FYI ROD THE DFA IS OPENING A OFFICE IN BOHOL IT WILL BE LOCATED IN THE GOVERNOR MANSION tagbilaran
Thanks Michael. What is the time schedule for it to open, do you know?
@@AmazingPhilippines1 I will find out from the governors assistant who told me
How many hours from dumaguete to bohol
Only an hour or so I think.

I think many prices have risen a bit Rick with companies trying to make up for losses over 3 years plus the higher cost of fuel.
