LoL wife and I heard fortunate son on radio today and I’m like, hey always wanted to learn that one. So I search and there is Carl with a perfect instruction 😄 I can now play it, thanks for another Carl ! I have Hysteria DOWN, even the solo. Thanks for that one too 👍
Wow Progenie and Marcel you are both idiots, he wasn't criticising the video he was complimenting it for not rambling on and getting to the lesson quickly, learn to read.
Love the down tuning and the pull offs. One of the great Rock songs of all time. Everybody knows what it's about. I was 15 when this song came out, and CCR was #1 in the world at that time.
Thank you sir! Didn’t sound right in standard tuning. Then I watched some live videos and saw he was tuned down. Your voicings match up with what I was seeing and hearing.
Dam I was close,I was using standard tuning obviously in different fret position but didn't sound the same, drop D,thanks again Carl, keep up the great work you do on your site,😀😀🤘🤘🤘🤘
Yeah he is, he also shows solos and stuff..but Marty is great too! It's just that Marty explains lessons like for total beginners who hold guitar for the first time and Carl is for a bit more advanced players.
What's up with new videos using the different tunings? That's one of the things I loved about your videos I did have to pull out my fender or Gibson could use my standard HP Special Custom.
Had to learn this song and every version taught on UA-cam just didn't sound right. I know this video is 8 years old but thanks for the D tuning tip off like others have mentioned.
great lesson..! thank you very much for the classic from Creedence...! what amp do you use and how to you get that tone, sounds hella good..! nice axe btw..!
I love Carl's videos, and this lesson is is the only one I've found on UA-cam that shows how to correctly play the song as Fogerty played it. A gentle correction, though - tuning every string down a half step does not yield an open D tuning. Open D tuning would be D-A-D-F#-A-D. Other than that, great job!
Hey thanks for watching! When I say D tuning in the video and in the written description it means D standard which is a typical way of saying tune every string down a whole step... open D is a completely different thing... if you look in the description you will see the correct notes and that they are tuned a whole step down for each string
Interesting. There's no mention of the different tuning in the "authentic transcriptions" Guitar Anthology book. I believe the presenter here when he says that Creedence played it in the D tuning. I also agree that it's probably not worth it to bother with the REAL authentic tuning in a youtube video. Frustrating for me, but I'm sure a lot of people love it. To each his own. I'd rather learn it in standard tuning.
Jonathan Evans Carl’s nailed the real authentic tuning. The book (in this case) is incorrect, as a lot of older rock books are. Try checking out an older Stones book if you ever run across one at a used bookstore: it’ll have stuff like “Brown Sugar,” “Gimme Shelter,” “Tumbling Dice” etc rendered with standard-tuning cowboy chords that just don’t sound right for the material (and aren’t!).
I'd MUCH rather it be taught in the tuning the artist uses, with the little fills and details that the artist uses. If you want to adapt it to a different tuning like Standard, or play a simpler version, then you can do that yourself once you see how it is actually performed.
Carl Brown is the man, i like Marty Schwartz have learned alot from him also, but Carl is right to the point.
Let me explain the 2 chords in 10 minute video -Marty
marty’s like marvel and carl’s like dc
Absolutely correct
Marty explains everything more specifically BUT Carl make full songs I like em both
Marty doesn't usually play the songs correctly though
Carl is the Best. I really appreciate how he tries to teach the way it is played on the albums

I have Hysteria DOWN, even the solo. Thanks for that one too 👍
Great lesson! Starts out with the song, instead of 10 minutes of talking! Thumbs up!
lol you want that shit than go to marty schwartz fuck off
why does everyone play this completely differently lmao
is your lesson on youtube.. if so i want to criticize it.
Wow Progenie and Marcel you are both idiots, he wasn't criticising the video he was complimenting it for not rambling on and getting to the lesson quickly, learn to read.

Love it. More classics please! A lesson on The Stones' Sympathy For The Devil solo would be great.
Thanks. Now I finally know why my fills never sounded quite right. I'm playing in G standard tuning.
I didn't know Chris Ostreicher from American Pie taught guitar lessons, very good.
Best lesson on this song! Thank you!
Thank's for the "down tuned" version. Another great lesson!
You’re the only person so far that I have seen, that in the lesson, plays the little lick at the end of the phrase. Good job!
Thank you sir! Didn’t sound right in standard tuning. Then I watched some live videos and saw he was tuned down. Your voicings match up with what I was seeing and hearing.
Always the best!Go straight to you every time..Thanks for all you do on a daily basis. Rock on!🎸
It just works out perfect in drop C. So fun to play that way.
Your the only guy who teaches this correctly that ive seen
Thank You Carl!
Dam I was close,I was using standard tuning obviously in different fret position but didn't sound the same, drop D,thanks again Carl, keep up the great work you do on your site,😀😀🤘🤘🤘🤘
Nice Guitar, Ernie Ball Music Man(Sterling Ball, the fortunate son) Great lesson too, no BS just the straight up licks, chords and style, love it.
Carl brown is better then Marty, change my mind
Yeah he is, he also shows solos and stuff..but Marty is great too! It's just that Marty explains lessons like for total beginners who hold guitar for the first time and Carl is for a bit more advanced players.
Marty is over rated
Awww, don't hate on my boy Marty! He is more beginner oriented while Carl seems to be more for intermediate players.
Marty who?
effects brand please
That guitar sounds great!!
Thank you ! You are doing it right. Seen videos from other you tubers and they’re all playing it wrong.
Good job keeping it easy to understand! Thanks for the download.

Ben Chambers I got too many complaints so I just decided to teach it the way it was originally tuned. Sorry...
+Ben Chambers That's the way it's supposed to be played...

Had to learn this song and every version taught on UA-cam just didn't sound right.
I know this video is 8 years old but thanks for the D tuning tip off like others have mentioned.
