I agree with some of these, but I don't think Pink Floyd's 1969 run was all that great. I do love the A-side of More but the B-side is pretty weak (expect for Ibiza Bar). Ummagumma is weird one, I do love the Live LP of it, but the Studio LP is a unlistenable experiment with the only song that I come back is Narrow Way Pt3.
Now lets see you do a list for the best three albums in a year 😊 My nomination would be Fairport Convention in 1969 with "What We Did On Our Holidays", "Unhalfbricking", and "Liege and Lief".
When I clicked here, I anticipated one of the two Beatles pairings, *Help!* and *Rubber Soul.* I didn't have my eyes and ears pealed for the pairing of *Sgt. Pepper* and *Magical Mystery Tour,* but I welcome it; they were 2 of the albums I heard in 1987 at the start of my personal beatlemania.
Uriah Heep - Demons and Wizards / The Magician's Birthday (1972) Deep Purple - Burn / Stormbringer (1974) KISS - Destroyer / Rock and Roll Over (1976) Thin Lizzy - Jailbreak / Johnny the Fox (1976)
Agree 100% with your number one choice. If you count Magical Mystery Tour as an official studio album then it has to be one of the greatest albums of all time, as good as Sgt Pepper. Had these been released as a double album for Xmas 67 then without any doubt this would be the greatest album ever. Personally I’d put The Doors and Strange Days a lot higher and what about Led Zeppelin and Led Zeppelin II, did I miss it? Also Red Rose Speedway and Band on the Run by Wings, For Your Pleasure and Stranded by Roxy Music (all 1973).
Can't argue with any on this list. My suggestion is "The Hangman's Beautiful Daughter" and "Wee Tam and the Big Huge". -1968. The latter was a double album.
Good list, but the omission of Genesis (A Trick of the Tail/Wind and Wuthering) is not justified. As for Magical Mystery Tour, in 1987 the album was accepted into the core catalog of the Beatles.
Although starless and bible black is not a really good album, the magnificency of red is enough to give them the first position. A trick of the tail and wind and wuthering second. Yes album and fragile third.
@@stevstevstevrich totally true that the night watch is perfect. I like very much this record, i was only trying to state that is not as good of others (being sensational as all of them).
I would put Led Zeppelin at 1, and the Beatles down at 2. Those are the only positions I could be certain about though. Love this list idea. Perhaps you could do Top (X#) Albums by Solo Artists?
Yes, for example "Honky Chateau" and "Don't Shoot Me I'm Only The Piano Player" in 1972, and "Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy" and "Rock of the Westies" in 1975.
A album by definition lasts between 40 to 60 minutes (with double albums well, being double the length). It doesn’t matter if it’s a single LP, or a double EP as both have a similar length, making it a album
Sure it was never released as an album in the UK, but it is widely accepted as one of the core studio albums, mostly I think because people want Strawberry Fields and Penny Lane to be on one of the albums
CCR - 1969 - Willy And The Poor Boys/ Green River
They could go in a list of best three albums in one year, with those and Bayou Country
@@cowboyfromhelI Oh for sure, I just picked my two personal preferences
Really great to see Kate here
1. Yes Album/Fragile
2. Low/"Heroes"
3. Starless & bible black/Red
4. A trick of the tail/Wind and Wuthering
5. More/Ummagumma

@@TheTornadoMan thats why I put it last. I prefer More to Ummagumma
Roxy Music: For Your Pleasure and Stranded are so overlooked
I'd put The Doors / Strange Days much higher, but other than that great list!
No Elton? 😢 2 albums in 73 and 75, and 3 in 70! He and Taupin were churning out material round the clock , straight out the gate.
Uriah Heep, Demons and Wizards & The Magician's Birthday (1972)
Good choice! 👍
Moody blues, in 69. On the Threshold of a Dream and To our Children's Children's children
Bowie must be first

Fairport Convention is a good nomination
I’ll say Creedence Clearwater Revival though
Bayou Country, Green River and
Willy and the Poor Boys
ooo that would be a rough list to make, maybe like a top 5 list

And CCR? Where are they on this list?
Alice Cooper - Love it to Death / Killer 1971
I love Alice

The led zeppelins are number 3
Would Fela Kuti's releases be considered 'albums'? If yes, then he'd definitely make this list numerous times
Guess Who - American Woman/Share The Land
oooo love The Guess Who, I didn't know both those came out the same year
Alice Cooper Love It to Death and Killer 1971
Blondie Plastic Letters, Parallel Lines 1978
1977: Da Ramones - Leave Home/Rocket to Russia; The Jam - In the City/This is the Modern World.

Fly By Night and Caress Of Steel 1975 Rush

I personally think starless and bible black is incredible, side 2 is perfect and side 1 has some brilliant stuff like the night watch imo

Me too
I think the Beatles deserve the #1
@@cae2525 Yeah
I think the top 3 is perfectly fine.
Didn't Elton John put out two albums per year in his heyday?
Yes, for example "Honky Chateau" and "Don't Shoot Me I'm Only The Piano Player" in 1972, and "Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy" and "Rock of the Westies" in 1975.
King Gizzard: two albums??? Try 5.
Where's mezmerize/hipnotize?
Use your illusion IyII?
This wrong... Magical Mystery Tour was a double EP, not a LP, all stuff that was edit in the States not have so much Credit like UK versions
🤓☝🏻
@@musicminute2004it’s a fair point?

Les maisons de disques abusaient.
Ils prenaient les créateurs pour des machines.
1974 , KISS and Hotter Than Hell
