30 Best Three Rock Album Runs of All Time
Some of these artists are arguably not "rock" like Kate of Leonard, but I think they're at least rock adjacent. There were some artists where I considered two different 3 album runs, but Bowie was the only one where both stood out enough to include.

the 60's and 70's were hard to do because there were too many songs I wanted to pick every year it was hard to narrow it down. the 90's and 2000's were hard for me because I couldn't find enough songs I liked. Hope you enjoy, have a go at making your own list in the comments if you feel inclined. video idea from ua-cam.com/video/6iKuKlYvMSA/v-deo.html&ab_channel=DavidBennettPiano Also follow me...

50 opening tracks was easier to come up with than closing tracks, but for closing the top choice was pretty obvious for me, it was less obvious with this one, a few of em could've ended up on top. 25 Favorite Solo Artists of All Time

this has got to be the freakiest list ive ever done, it felt so weird putting Bob Dylan next to Kendrick. and this list really exposes how little I know about rap. I chose not to include Bob Marley and Jimi Hendrix, I love em both but most of there work was released with there bands, The Wailers and The Experience so I don't think they count as solo artists. I included The Beatles boys because ...

Add on The Who Sell Out and Live At Leeds and you’d get one mighty five album Who run 🎸
U2 and rem should be here instead of some that aint as hood
Dylan’s 1965-66 electric trilogy - Bringing it All Back Home, Highway 61 Revisited, and Blonde on Blonde - really transformed what people thought rock lyrics could be. We can hear its impact on “A Day in the Life,” “Sympathy for the Devil,” “McArthur Park,” “American Pie,” “Life on Mars,” “Stairway to Heaven,” “Hotel California” …
I was worried you wouldn’t include the Radiohead triple and disappointed that you missed The Unforgettable Fire > The Joshua Tree > Achtung Baby
The Band. Music From Big Pink The Band Stage Fright
Some personal favorites that weren't on the list The Cure: Seventeen Seconds Faith Pornography Death Cab for Cutie: We Have The Facts The Photo Album Transatlanticism Iron Maiden: The Number of the Beast Piece of Mind Powerslave Megadeth: Peace Sells So Far, So Good, So What Rust in Peace Metallica: Ride the Lightning Master of Puppets ...And Justice For All Modest Mouse: This is a Long Drive Lonesome Crowded West Moon and Antarctica My Chemical Romance: I Brought You My Bullets Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge The Black Parade Nine Inch Nails: Pretty Hate Machine The Downward Spiral The Fragile Primus: Frizzle Fry Sailing the Seas of Cheese Pork Soda Queens of the Stone Age: Self-Titled Rated R Songs for the Deaf Slayer: Reign in Blood South of Heaven Seasons in the Abyss Slipknot: Self-Titled Iowa Vol. 3 The Smashing Pumpkins: Gish Siamese Dream Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness (could also drop Gish in favor of Adore) The Smiths: Self-Titled Meat is Murder The Queen is Dead Stone Temple Pilots: Tiny Music Core Purple Sunny Day Real Estate: Diary Self-Titled How it Feels to be Something On Swans: To Be Kind The Seer The Glowing Man Taking Back Sunday: Tell All Your Friends Where You Want To Be Louder Now Talking Heads: Fear of Music Remain in Light Speaking in Tongues Tool: Ænema Lateralus 10,000 Days (could also drop Days in favor of Undertow) The White Stripes: De Stijl White Blood Cells Elephant
Wishbone Ash Pilgrimage Argus
Tho just as a personal choice…my favorite 3 album run by Rush is Permanent Waves/Moving Pictures/Signals
The Yes album Fragile Close to the Edge
The first three albums from Santana were amazing.
Daltrey is roger!!!
C’mon the best three albums in a row are the first three cheap Trick albums.
RHCP: Blood Sugar Sex Magik One Hot Minute Californication
The Stooges -The Stooges -Fun House -Raw Power
Springsteen Wild Innocent through Tunnel of Love (7 albums in 16 years) is kinda goated
Nirvana feels a little lost in this list:)
Of these choices, Led Zep or The Beatles should be number one. In general, I sometimes thought the choices of albums in this video were off a little or a lot, but this was a satisfying list on the whole. 👍
Led Zeppelin could have also been in there with the first three albums. But generally a good list. Good to see those King Crimson albums included, especially Larks Tongues In Aspic.
You could argue that pink floyd had 4 great album runs with meddle, dsotm predecessor.
Obscured By Clouds was Floyd's next release after Meddle, not DSOTM.
CCR. Elton John. ACDC.
Starless and Bible Black may be the greatest rock album people are completely unaware of!!
You DEFINITELY Nailed the RUSH Trifecta!!!!👏👊✊
You could easily make a Five Album Run video, starting with A Farewell to Kings and ending with Signals.
@@davidjorgensen877 Rush is my favorite band and In my opinion, their 6 album run from 2112 to Signals is Easily Top 3 for true Rock band 6 album runs! Obviously Zeppelin is top 3.I would have to give thought for the other.Maybe Floyd!🤔👏
I would put 2112 through Moving Pictures against any 5 album run.
I go with Dylan at number 1 and Beatles 2
Bowie IS the most overrated artist i know
Ok
Wishbone Ash, Pilgrimage and Argus....eat that!
Very nicely played, keep growing
1. Nursery Cryme, Foxtrot, Selling England By The Pound (Genesis 1971-1973) ... 2. The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway, A Trick Of The Tail, Wind & Wuthering (Genesis 1974-1976), 3. Standing In The Spotlight, I Hate Freaks Like You, Ain't It Fun?/Zonked! (Dee Dee Ramone 1989-1997) ... 4. Y Ahora Qué Pasa Eh?, Fuera De Sektor, Mercado Indio (Los Viola...es 1985-1987) ... 5. Salve, Revolución!!, No Somos Nada (La Polla Records 1984-1987).
true, genesis could also have had two seperate great 3 album runs
Roxy music, For your pleasure, Stranded
For me, it’s Stranded, Country Life, Siren.
@@sanddab fair shout
respect to your list, but my personal favorite 3 album run is RHCP with californication, by the way and stadium arcadium.
1. Emerson Lake & Palmer 2. Tarkus 3. Pictures at an exhibition
Facelift - Dirt - Alice in Chains Revolver - Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band - Magical Mystery Tour Hybrid Theory - Meteora - Minutes to Midnight The Moon and the Melodies - Blue Bell Knoll - Heaven or Las Vegas Seventeen Seconds - Faith - Pornography Kuuchuu Camp - Long Season - Uchu Nippon Setagaya Queens of the Stone Age - Rated R - Songs for the Deaf Just for a Day - Souvlaki - Pygmalion some of my favourites
I like Rubber Soul a little more than Magical Mystery Tour but both incredible albums
The cure, the chamelleons, the smiths, U2, coldplay, tears for fears, REM, depeche mode, mike oldfield and fish.
Agreed with the smiths except for strangeways
You can remove almost everyone, leaving only Gillan, Plant, Tyler (they really know how to scream), and add metal vocalists from the 80s to the remaining places
Great list. Some post 70s suggestions; The Cure - Head on the Door, Kiss Me, Disintegration. The National - Alligator, Boxer, High Violet. Wilco - Being There, Summer Teeth, Yankee Hotel Foxtrot. U2 - Joshua Tree, Rattle n Hum, Achtung Baby. Even Coldplay - Parachutes, Rush of Blood, X&Y or an Australian touch - You Am I - HiFi Way, Hourly Daily, #4 Record
For me, U2 would be War, Unforgettable Fire, and Joshua Tree.
Interesting ranking. I would put genesis king crimson and yes in the top4 along with pink floyd (in any order). I like also the inclusion of fleetwood mac, kate bush and radiohead. The rest of my list until 30 is (no order): marillion, supertramp, dire straits, police, peter gabriel, roger waters, tori amos, ani di franco, natalie merchant, pj harvey, lana del rey, fiona apple, sarah mchlaughan
I'm a big PF fan but I actually haven't listened to any of his solo work other than his version of DSOTM. I'll have to give him a look
You will most likely love amused to death and is this the life.@@videosbaisam
Interesting concept. I have a few differences of opinion. For Joel, I'd replace Glass Houses with Turnstiles. For The Clash, I'd replace Sandanista with their self-titled debut. I think Steely Dan's first 3 albums are their most consistent 3 album run. Below is a list of the best rock album runs I could think of by artists that didn't make your list: 1. R.E.M.: All 9 albums released in 1983-1994 are excellent, so take your pick. 2. Kinks: Face to Face, Something Else, Village Green Preservation Society (or Arthur instead of Face to Face) 3. Van Morrison: Astral Weeks, Moondance, His Band and Street Choir 4. Stevie Wonder: Innervisions, Fulfillingness’ First Finale, Songs in the Key of Life 5. Elvis Costello: My Aim Is True, This Year’s Model, Armed Forces 6. Replacements: Let It Be, Tim, Pleased to Meet Me 7. Sonic Youth: Daydream Nation, Goo, Dirty (or Sister instead of Dirty) 8. CCR: Green River, Willy and the Poor Boys, Cosmos Factory 9. Rod Stewart: Gasoline Alley, Every Picture Tells a Story, Never a Dull Moment 10. Fairport Convention: What We Did on Our Holidays, Unhalfbricking, Liege & Lief 11. X: Los Angeles, Wild Gift, Under the Big Black Sun 12. Otis Redding: Otis Blue, The Soul Album, Dictionary of Soul 13. Talking Heads: Fear of Music, Remain in Light, Speaking in Tongues 14. Elton John: Honky Chateau, Don’t Shoot Me I’m Only the Piano Player, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road 15. Joni Mitchell: Blue, For the Roses, Court and Spark
I like all of the 70s steely dan album. I could see any combination of 3. Those 3 stevie wonders albums are incredible, if I was doing all artists and not just rock he would prob be on top
big clash fan here, completely agree, also agree with elvis costello. thumbs up! ps-- combat rock is completely underrated (i know it;s after sandinista, just saying)
No 1 I ecpected The White Album, Abbey Road, Let it be.
yellow submarine messes up the order
@@videosbaisam Yellow Submarine is only in the US considered as a full fledged album. In Europe it is not released as a follow up for The White Album.
Beggars Banquet - Let It Bleed - Sticky Fingers - Exile on Main Street is a pretty great 4-album run.
I might do a video of 4 album runs, but I feel like it would be pretty much the same as this list, with just one more album added onto each
the Smiths made 4 fantastic studio albums on the spin❤❤❤
The Eagles - One of these Nights Hotel California The Long Run
The Ramones Ramones Leave Home Rocket to Russia
You must be a moron to exclude Aerosmith
Facelift Dirt Alice in Chains (self titled album)
How about Faith No More: The Real Thing. Angel Dust, King For a Day. Three excellent and very diverse albums.
You need to listen to 2000 more albums. And some good ones this time. Most of your choices are appalling.
Amazing list, finally Station to station, Starless and bible black, The yes album and Gaucho are getting recognition
I am a simple man: As Long as Pink Floyd is No. 1, the List is valid
Valid indeed🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
That's the word, man.
Agree 100% with your number one choice. If you count Magical Mystery Tour as an official studio album then it has to be one of the greatest albums of all time, as good as Sgt Pepper. Had these been released as a double album for Xmas 67 then without any doubt this would be the greatest album ever. Personally I’d put The Doors and Strange Days a lot higher and what about Led Zeppelin and Led Zeppelin II, did I miss it? Also Red Rose Speedway and Band on the Run by Wings, For Your Pleasure and Stranded by Roxy Music (all 1973).
The led zeppelins are number 3
Superb list, great choices. Hard to choose just 3 albums from some artists as they had longer runs of 4 or more albums. Eg you could extend the Beatles run to include The White Album and Abbey Road if you exclude Yellow Submarine which wasn’t a proper album and the double EP Magical Mystery Tour (although you could include the US version too if you class this as an official album). Zeppelin had 8 great studio albums from the debut Led Zeppelin to In Through the Out Door. All 6 albums by The Doors and all 4 by The Velvet Underground constitute classic runs. You could add The Wall and The Final Cut to make a 5 album run for Pink Floyd, Beggar’s Banquet to make 4 for the Stones. Bowie arguably has ten from Hunky Dory to Scary Monsters (excluding the covers album Pin Ups). Steely Dan arguably all 7 from Can’t Buy a Thrill to Gaucho. The first 5 Roxy Music albums. U2 could have War, The Unforgettable Fire & The Joshua Tree followed by a 4 album run Achtung Baby, Zooropa, Pop, and All That You Can’t Leave Behind. So many great artists / albums.
I'd argue to start earlier with Meddle through The Wall instead of The Final Cut... if you ignore Obscured by Clouds, which is a movie soundtrack.
I may do a list of 4-5 album runs, it is tricky though, there's normally one dud that messes up the streak, like Yellow Submarine or Pin Ups
Iron Maiden - The Number of the Beast, Piece of Mind, Powerslave
